Yeah so like an idiot...I haven't been downloading any updates for my virus protection and I think it caught up with me  :(

My computer loads up and everything, then maybe like 10 seconds after it loads it freezes. I don't know what to do. Sometimes I get an error message saying some program I have never heard of performed an illegal opperation or sometimes it just locks up without the error message. I tried to ctrl+alt+del and then endtask on things I didn't think should be there but that didn't really work out

If you can, can you possibly get the name of the program that says is screwing up?

Keep a rescue boot disk handy. It may be able to help you boot up when you get raped by a virus next time. My cousin saved over mine last time, though.

I was having that problem and what I found out was Zone Alarm and my Norton Anti Virus were "fighting" each other. I deleted Zone Alarm and things have been fine ever since.

Afterall, Norton works the same as Zone Alarm, so it's not like you're losing protection.

Don't even need Zonealarm, just get XP :o

really?

I got McAfee and ZoneAlarm but I don't even have enough time to delete anything because my computer freezes up in like 20 seconds

Can you hit F8 and boot into safe mode? Then you can disable them.

I'm not sure if I could boot into safe mode, even if I did i've never done it before and it would probably f somethin up

I am retarded when it comes to computers

You can't mess up by just going into safe mode, it is pretty easy

Yeah go in Safe Mode. Just restart and keep pressing F8 and then it will ask what to do. Run in safe mode and it will load up with just the things Windows needs. Go and delete the program that keeps giving the error. Try the ZoneAlarm thing or whatever too.
