just a little series i came up with, kinda like "rate the wrestler, and kind of like that thing they do in Maxim magazine. Problem is I am not a computer whiz, so the formating will basically suck. anyway its gonna look something like this:

BRET HART vs. KURT ANGLE

wrestling They are both great. Kurt Angle, as an Olympic gold medalist is as legit as they come. but, there is more to it than just legitimate wrestling. i think Bret Hart was slightly better at selling his opponents offense, but then, he never had to feud with someone like Rey Mysterio. They could both carry anyone to a great match. because there are too many ways to look at this: advantage: draw - 0-0

mic skills who can cut a better promo? Bret Hart was good. whether playing a face or a heel his mic work was always convincing. and convincingness is one thing that Angle's promos generally lack. and as a face i think Angles promos kinda suck. but as a heel Angle's promos are just so damn hilarious and entertainment is what its all about:
advantage: Angle - 0-1

Work Rate both had/have a good work rate with Hitman's being slightly better on account of Angle's broken freakin' neck.
advantage: Hitman - 1-1

"IT" factor both definitely have it. "it" is what makes you realize that this person is going to be a star the moment you see them. they both have it. i think Bret had a little something extra, in that he exuded a certain love and respect for the wrestling business. advantage: Hitman - 2-1

finisher sharpshooter vs. Angle slam/ankle lock. angle slam is weak, so lets just make it sharpshooter vs. ankle lock. here is what i like and dont like about them. sharp shooter is very intricate and seemingly difficult to apply. but just attempting to put it on is a HUGE pop moment now days. the ankle lock is not a very original move, and it seems like in a big match it has to be applied forty times and for a whole 7 minutes befor it works. but it can be applied very quickly and easily and from out of nowhere. plus its pretty cool when he undoes the straps in order to move in for the ankle lock. advantage: Hitman - 3-1

heat face heat easily goes to Bret IMO. as a face Kurt Angle is just too much of a dork. Heel heat is a lot closer of a contest. the problem here for Angle is that nowadays wrestlers turn so often that the characters are not convincing as faces or heels. when Bret went heal it was more of a 'big deal'. the problem here for Bret is that even as a heel he came off as believing that he was 'in the right', making him sympethetic even as a heel. advantage: Hitman - 4-1

contribution to wrestling hitman wins it. when Kurt Angle retires, i dont think his contribution to wrestling will stand up to Hart's. advantage: Hitman - 5-1

so Hitman came out on top. but let me say this. IMO Kurt Angle is the best wrestler in wwe today, and has been for quite some time. and the fact that, according to my calculations, he is not as good as Hitman was, is not Kurt Angles fault. it has more to do with the climate of wrestling these days

100% agree with you, I never really seen Angle in a ***** match. He always came close but it never reach that level. Bret had alot of 5star matches. The greatest match I've ever seen was Hart vs.Austin at SSeries 96.

I don't think Angle would of fit that well in 96 and 97 because WWF was very dark(in a good way). Angle character would of been the happy go lucky type.

I agree, Angle is the best wrestler in the WWE today because Lesnar retired. Lesnar is one of my favorites.

Angle has Bret beat in everything listed with the exception of contribution to wrestling, which I believe Angle will eventually edge the Hitman out. Especially considering the Hitman's tarnished his legacy with all the whining, complaining and bitching he does. When i think Bret Hat now days I think "Bitter Old Man" as opposed to "Wrestling Legend" and I'm sure there are other out there of the same opinion.

Bret is better than Angle in everything except for politics.

There's no comparison..only guy who compares with Bret, even though I hate him, is HBK.

You have those two, then everyone else clawing and scratching behind them.

Owen Hart is the closest I've ever seen to Bret Hart when it comes to wrestling. By the way, Austin is the greatest wrestler ever.

In my mind, they are both so close that I can't even hazard a comparison. The only thing that might give Bret the edge is his overall contribution to the business.

Bret hands down destroys Angle in every category minus promos

I used to be a HUGE Bet fan back in the day, but looking back, what has he really contributed to wrestling? If it weren't for the whole Montreal incident (which is the biggest scam in wrestling history) we wouldn't even be talking about him now. He would have faded into obscurity in WCW.. Hell he practically DID!

So i ask the question... What did Bret Hart contribute to the wretling industry?

Prove me wrong guys.

I'm not a huge Bret fan,he's not even in my top 5 list and maybe not in my top 10 list. I do know Bret contribute to wrestling in many ways though.

He made Austin the popular wrestler he became. His fued with Bret change his career. That fued basically started the Attitude era and what you see today.
Every guy from Canada who wants and wanted to be a wrestler wanted to be like Bret.
He made Owen Hart the popular wrestler he became. His fued with Bret change his career
He made Bulldog the popular wrestler he became. His match with Bret at SSlam change his career.
He was the first WWE champ without a lame cartoon gimmick after the Golden Age.Wrestlers had to learn more than 5 moves to be successful in the WWE.

As much as I love Kurt Angle, Bret Hart will always be the greatest of all time, and he will always be my all-time favorite wrestler.
