View Full Version : B.J. Surhoff is sensitive about his age...

So, went to the Sox game last night, sat near the Visiting dugout and have sat there many times before. Me and/or my friends always give a hard time to the LF. Nothing personal or swearing. We used to tease Paul O'Neil about being old and pale, Bryns for missing home plate...

So, last night it was Surhoff, who hit a Grand Slam the night before.

Was the 1st or 2nd inning, he's walking from LF to the dugout and I say "Excuse me, Mr. Surhoff, how are you enjoying you retirement".

His response, which in all the years no player has ever responded.

"Why don't you come on this field and kick my ass and then I'll retire".

I couldn't stop laughing... not sure that it was he responded or an old-age joke got under his skin so much... The rest of my section heard his comment and a few people made some comments I wouldn't have... not creative and vulger "BJ blows" and "BJ sucks"....

I went back at the age "Hey Mr. Surhoff, I have your rookie card, you look great in B&W, too bad they didn't have color film back then".

Anyway, I just thinks it's a riot a simple comment got to him, and does leave open w/ the recent Anieheim incident the players could have over reacted.

Lol, that'd be crazy. The only player I could get to respond to me was some guy named Baldwin who was called up to the Twins for a few weeks last season

LOL one time we heckled this guy Cuddyer from the Twins so bad that they pulled him out of the game. He couldn't handle us anymore. There were like 12 of us giving him shit every time he was in the field.

Gay ass baseball haha

Haha, no wonder they moved him to third base

Yeah opposing left fielders at SAFECO get so much shit from me and my friends. Currently our favorite targets are Eric Byrnes, Kevin Mench, Manny Ramirez, Jose Guillen, and Coco Crisp. Byrnes & Manny are too easy. Old school faves were Darin Erstad, Rusty Greer, Chuck Knoblauch, and Ben Grieve. Oh yeah our all time favorite guy to pick on was some jobber for the Royals named Mark Quinn.

The first year the Twins started to rebound (2001), the Yankee's came into town with Chuck Knoblauch in left field (He came up with the Twins in 1991 and demanded out in 1997 I think). Some guys from my school made a line of shirts reading "H-E-Y C-H-U-C-K Y-O-U S-U-C-K" and some other guys had a line reading "Look out, were everywhere." He may or may not have been hit with things, but it was a big deal in Minnesota and they got on the front page of the paper.
