I noticed this in the Nov. edition of SmackDown! magazine...

http://www.wrestlinginformer.net/Charlie_Haas.jpg

Notice on his arm band, it says "Russ" or "Buss" (Most likely "Russ")... Anyone know what that stands for/represents?

Russ Haas (nice name, I'm guessing it was Russle) was Charlie's brother, who died. Russ was training to a wrestler with Charlie. Charlie writes "Russ" on his wrist tape as a tribute to his brother.

Russ Haas was Charlie's brother (and original tag partner). Sadly, he died before they left OVW...I'm not sure when or of what exactly, but...

-edit- for a while, Charlie wrestled under the moniker of R.C. Haas as a tribute as well.

I think Russ had a heart disease. Probably similar to what Pillman had.

The Haas Brothers were touted as being one of the future great tag teams, I believe.

Quite a shame. :(

Russ Hass had Heart desise (SP sorry tired worked allday) And was cleared to come back, he worked one match in OVW and then the very same night he had a heart attack, he was taken to a local hospitable, where he was later prononced Dead. Charlie wears the name Russ on his wrist band in the same way Jeff Hardy wore the date of his mother's death on his arm, in tribuit.

Yep all of the above are correct and they were one hell of a tag team Russ could well have been a breakout star a real shame really.

I remember reading an article in one of the WWE magazines where Haas was talking about being in WrestleMania 19. He said that it was his and his brothers dream to make it to WrestleMania, and that day, he finally did. Was a good article.

huh? Didn't Pillmans heart stop in his sleep from a weakened heart caused by drugs and taking an OD of painkillers before he went to bed?

I remember seeing the Haas brothers wrestle at Axxess before WM18 I think it was. Put on a great performance, really stuck in my mind. Always seem to remember Russ being a lot bigger than Charlie - and they certainly got an ovation after the match from a reasonable crowd there. Been trying to remember their opponents all day!

Pillman had a heart condition he never knew about and taking steroids and doing cocaine certainly doesn't help that. He never OD'd, but you'd have to be ignorant to think drugs never played their part. And for the record, I denied Pillman died from drug causes for years before I really knew any better.

As for Russ, he had a heart attack very young, recovered with full medical clearance and then had a second heart failure. I'd think his situation was quite a difference from Pillman's.

Sorry VEL, never even saw your post. Yeah, no doubt Pillman died from drugs, but like Rob said, I was pointing out that he did have a heart condition that he had since he was a kid, but knew nothing about. The drugs just basically pulled the trigger on it. His heart was already 75% diseased when he died.

Rob, you know if the heart condition was genetic?

Apparently it was but don't know for sure. I think his dad died from heart problems.
