How much does a standard ring cost?

How much does a standard ring cost, and how does one get one? Are there people out there who build them, do you just get the materials and build it yourself, or do you have to get hand-me-downs from other wrestling organizations?

Depending on the cost of the ring, and the condition that the important parts are in, sometimes you're better getting 'em second hand from a wrestling promotion. If it is a steel framed ring, then everything is essential, if it's a wood framed ring then plywood (that is used for flooring) can be bought for about $20-25 a board, and the side and beam boards vary in cost.

As long as the vital parts are OK, then it's cool, but things like padding, and ropes & such are replaceable. If you found an 18 foot ring in A/B condition, say for $2,500 but the ropes and padding needed to be replaced, you might want to pick it up. You could get brand new ropes for about $300-350 (or less), and padding for about $200-500 (depending on what kind you're looking for). So it'd still be cheaper. Kinda like a fix'er upper situation.

I used to have a wood framed ring, but got rid of it, and within the next year or so I'll be getting myself a steel framed ring. Mainly just because it's slightly easier to set up.

Another site, depending on what is to your liking and shit, is www.prowrestlingrings.com - I also prefer Highspots, but everyone is different. I also just figured I'd mention it because you can pick up a few extra items there too (if you ever needed single things, like steps and such).

Ask indy promotions in your area how much you can buy an old ring from them for.

When WCEW (a local indy), went out of business, my buddy bought their ring, almost brand new (only used for 13 matches) for $1,020. Good deal.

We use it all the time.

If you make your own ring (I made a trampoline ring that uses a support like a regular ring, but the trampoline top allows some bounce, but not much) you can buy peices (like ropes or turnbuckles) used from an indy fed. I got cable ropes for $600 for a set of 6. (3 red, 3 black)

My friend and I were talking at an indy show tonight, and one of his friends told us that the ring they were using was some sort of kit. It costed about $800 (Canadian). I'm sure though that everything wasn't in the kit. The ring was okay.

Several online stores sell kits. Most of them include everything except the ropes and turnbuckle pads.

It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. I'd say it was a little better than okay. I've seen a lot owrse. Raven wrestled last night, so it was sturdy enough to support guys his size. He was in a six-man tag match, so it was strong enough to hold that much weight.

Seriously, it's like a Seinfeld moment where someone mentions some off-the-wall kind of thing they want to do and Kramer knows exactly who they should go to. Though we do have a lot of people with connections to Indy wrestling on here, and I actually knew that Highspots had them because I saw them once when I was looking for belt replicas.
