During his segment on Smackdown tonight, they refered to him as "Hollywood Hogan", not "Hollywood Hulk Hogan". They also edited out all "Hulk" parts that Cole/Taz said during the flashback.

I might've missed why they did this, but what is the reason?

Marvel and something to do with the Incedible Hulk

Marvel filed a lawsuit against the WWE about the rights of the name "Hulk" awhile back.

Why the fuck did they make Big Show get a haircut? He looks better with long hair.

I agree Big Show looks better with long hair and I'm glad he's letting it grow out, I'm surprised of Big Show's new look since his current return. He lost a lot of weight and I'm staring at the screen thinking of myself, "Is that Big Show?" Nah can't be. But it ended up being really him.

And this lawsuit over the Hulk name is stupid bullshit.

Basically, WWE contends they have borrowed ownership of the "Hulk" name until March of next year, while Marvel claims it's expired already.

Either way, it's pretty stupid.

Big Show needed a haircut, it's thinning and especially obviously since it's long.

Also, what's already been said about the Hulk issue is right, but the issue itself is so stupid... how can Marvel claim to lay claim to Hulk? They didn't invent the word Hulk, for one, and secondly WWE or Hogan aren't claiming that THEIR Hulk is in any way "Incredible". I could understand if people might, in some way, confuse the two... but how are they gonna confuse a man who turns into a giant green ogre when he gets angry with a man who's orange and quits when he doesn't get money?

Shhhh... beware before the "Vince deserved it" brigade comes rolling in here.

There was an old WWF program, reportedly that had a green-painted Hogan, though...but that was a one-shot, never mentioned again sort of deal. Someone on here made reference to it...

but yeah, Hulk Hogan and the Incredible Hulk, barring that one aforementioned incident really don't seem to have a lot in common. A pro wrestler with one of the most laughable finishers ever who dresses in red and yellow and waves an American flag....versus a big green guy who breaks stuff. It's the you-know-who versus the you-know-what all over again.

Hogan was actually branded "The Incredible Hulk" Hogan for a small time after his debut, but they quickly shortened it to Hulk Hogan

There is nothing Marvel can do, He will always be known as Hulk Hogan. You cant make a name just not exist.

Marvel owns the trademark, so it's their call. You can't really call it stupid because what respectable business really wants to be associated with the WWE (even in the slightest way) these days? Especially after that retarded tranquilizer stunt.

Then again, Hogan will always e known as Hulk Hogan. :-\

See, the thing is that trademark laws are there so that a well known brand can be protected. If I make a widget and it is profitable I obviously don't want competitors copying my company's name and the name of the product. I wouldn't want another company to make money off of my invention and I wouldn't want customers to get my company or product confused with my competitors.

That was the issue with WWF.

Now, with the name "hulk", it's just rediculous. There is no way in hell that anyone is going to confuse Marvel with the WWE. There is no way that people will mistake Hulk Hogan with The Incredible Hulk. The whole thing is just a legal excuse to grap money on the part of Marvel. And as has been pointed out, Hogan will always be remembered as either "hulk" or "hollywood". No matter what Marvel does that will not change.

Does that mean they cant say "Hulkamania"?

I think this is similar to the WWF vs WWF lawsuit thing. WWE was called WWF for the longest time until they lost that right. Now people call it WWE, I don't hear anybody calling them the WWF still. This may happen with the Hulk name. Word gets out into the general public (usually via small newspaper story) that Hogan can no longer be called Hulk, people will start calling him Hollywood. Hell, my girlfriend who hates wrestling loves Hollywood Hogan. Not once has she called him Hulk.

I think Marvel has a shot at winning this case.
