Hendrix died without a will. His estate went to his father. When his father died it sparked this lawsuit. The father had changed his will over the years several times. In the end, the judge went with what was the last will's wishes.

I don't know these people well enough to comment. However, just being someone's brother/sister, doesn't mean you automatically get their stuff when they die.
