View Full Version : Anyone else upset for Bryan Singer to leave X-Men 3 to do Superman?

I am so pissed off. Though I can't blame Bryan Singer for wanting to do Superman instead of X-Men because it's been his lifelong dream to do a Superman movie, but still, I think X-Men movies can't be done by any other director but him.

I mean, I have a feeling that Hugh Jackman is going to drop out of the Wolverine character since Singer left the X-Men series. I have a feeling Patrick Stewart may do the same thing.

Halle Berry already left the X-men series, and I have a feeling that more will leave the series since Singer is no longer part of the X-Men series.

Singer was just about ready to prepare for X-men 3, but he just left it in the dump by going to do Superman.

Although, I do think that Bryan Singer would make a good Superman movie, but he should wait to finish X-Men 3. Now that Bryan Singer won't be doing X-Men 3, I will not watch it. :n:

Really, this sucks. I think X-men has so much more depth than the Superman character, not to mention all indications are they are going to follow the Dark Phoenix Saga.

I am really suprised for a couple of reasons:

The last interview that I saw Singer give, he was stoked about adding his favorite X-men characters (Beast, Gambit, and Colosus {in a larger role})

Second, about the actors leaving, did they not sign a binding 3 movie deal? This was what I remember being said, it is the reason the studio put so much investment into the X-men movies.

Superman would probably be a great movie, but it's off and on and has a musical chair syndrome for directors. This is the same script that J. Cameron wrote and tried to bring to the screen in the early '90s right?

Sweet. I like Superman more than X-Men so this is good news to me!

I love Superman myself. I grew up my whole life on Superman since I was a kid.

The only reason I would see the new "Superman" only if Christopher Reeve has a cameo in it. Even if he's in a wheelchair still, I'm sure Reeve can fit in some kind of role. No Christopher Reeve appearrance in the new "Superman", I will not see that either.

I liked the first 2 movies, so it's a shame he's leaving. I'm a bit skeptical about Superman because there's only so much you can do with him. X-Men is more suited to movies due to the team's huge roster.

I know this may make me sound stupid but where's the source for all of this?
The last I heard Singer as you say was definitely looking foward to making the third instalment.
The actors and actresses had a 2 movie deal. Thank God because Halle Berry sucked as Storm, what was all that compassion about, you're playing a Goddess. Supposedly she pulled out because she wanted third movie to be based aroud Storm, but that was something I read in a magazine so I can't say whether it's true or not.
Has Hugh Jackman officially turned down the role of Wolverine, I saw an interview with him about a month back where he said he couldn't wait to play Wolverine again and rubbished rumours about him not starring in the film.
Funky is right about X Men, it's universe is so huge that the franchise could go on forever. However the films seem to be following the Ultimate X Men series, this was shown by how the Phoenix was an evolutionary phase of Jean Grey and not something that took over her body as was originally done.

Why exactly?

I hope not just because he's a cripple.

I hope Dean Cain doesn't make a cameo but I'm all for Teerri Hatcher getting naked.

I'm disappointed he isn't doing X-Men, but glad he is doing Superman. Superman has been such a cursed project for the longest time now but if anyone can save it, I think it's Singer. He's already began scouting locations and whatnot so that's a good sign that he will definitely be staying with it.

Disrespecting a legendary man that made the Superman movies for what it was just made you very low. Never disrespect the handicap.

He's not saying that he disrespects handicapped people. He's saying that they shouldn't patronize Christopher "Superman" Reeve by giving him a cameo to make him feel better about being handicapped.

The reasoning should be that "hey, this is guy who made the 80s movies as good as they were. Let's pay homage to him by having hm in a cameo".

Same thing they did with Starsky & Hutch.

So who's going to play Superman?

So who's going to play Superman?

No one yet. Strongest rumors I've heard so far are Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ) and Tom Welling (Smallville).

Tom Welling should not be in a Superman movie unless it's after Smallville is over and is some sort of "movie sequel" thingy.

Reeves is hardly legendary he was in no way a great actor. Gets far too much praise for falling off a horse.

:?: Which Superman are we talking about here? George Reeves did not fall off a horse. Christoper Reeve did. But they were both Supes.

I really don't see the point of another Superman movie. It's been done. Numerous TV adapations (one of them not exactly massively long ago either), a highly successful series of films. Why bother with yet another version of the same story? Incredibly pointless if they all they do is another story that states his origins...

Hopefully X-Men 3 still happens, and hopefully it doesn't suck...

I heard Nic Cage was playing Superman.

The Nicholas Cage rumour has been flying around ever since news of a new Superman movie began to circulate.

Nah, Cage is out. He is doing Ghost Rider, however.

According to supermanhomepage.com

"When asked if it will be a sequel, remake, or origin story, he said, in so many words, sequel. He said that the previous movies will be referenced in a "vague historical sense" (this wasn't clarified), and that the origin itself will be handled in the same way it was in the first Batman movie, with intercutting flashbacks."

This movie can go either way. Either bad or good. Naturally I'm hoping good since I love Superman.

I'm happy that Singer is doing Superman instead of X3 since I'm a big DC fan and I think that it's time that DC fans got a good comic book movie. Marvel has been producing great comic book movies such as Spiderman, X-Men, X2, Spiderman 2, Daredevil, and many others while the last good comic book movie that we got was Batman Returns. It looks as if we're gonna get some good movies such as Batman Begins and this Superman movies. But I still hope that X3 is good since I enjoyed the last two X-Men films.

How can anyone be a DC fan over marvel, obviously DC lacks the depth and culture the Marvel brings. Of course, JLA would probably defeat the Avengers, but only because the Marvel Universe lacks Kryptonite. Excelsior!

Just Kidding, I do like Marvel a bit over DC, but DC has some great titles;

Green Arrow
Swamp Thing (though I prefer ManThing)
Batman's Dark Knight line
Flash
I even like what DC has done with Aquaman recently, but I still cannot get over the Aquatic Telepathy time.

Batman Begins may be interesting. This is lukewarm news; X3 won't be as great as the first two, but the Superman production really needed a kick in the ass. Making this a DC/Marvel thing is so middle school guys, get over it.
