MSNBC inteviewed JBL and Mick Foley this afternoon. Foley said they decided to get involved because they may be more in touch with the American people than candidates because they travel the country and mix with young voters. JBL, when asked if the Smackdown Your Vote campaign works, said it does work because they are reaching out to the disgruntled younger citizens who don't feel their votes matter.
JBL talked about how politics affect the under 30 group. Foley said he has been part of spirited debates in WWE locker rooms over the years and he proposed the idea of a publc debate to Vince McMahon. Foley said McMahon decided to move it to a college campus. Foley said it won't be scripted and will probably be better than the actual presidential debate due to there being fewer rules.
JBL said viewers aren't going to get spin and instead will see a "straight forward debate." Foley said in the same way the bar is set low for the president, it's set even lower for them, so it won't be hard to exceed expectations. When asked if the debate would remain civil or be fought under WWE rules, JBL joked that "I have the athletic ability of a drunk elephant", so he wants it to remain an intellectual debate without anything physical.

All right, that made me laugh. Sorry about that. :(
