Well I voted Sheets, he won't win it, but just take a look at his numbers.

not that Sheets is bad because he certainly had a great year but Johnson was just better

I will be SHOCKED if Johnson gets it. Not that I don't think he's had a great year, but CY Youngs usually never go to a guy who is pitching to a last place team. His record is going to kill him, even though I know it's misleading.

I should of looked at every stats before voting. I went with Schmidt out of impulse, but I think Clemens is going to take it.

I decided to go with Johnson. I could seriously make a case for each one of these guys though.

Carpenter: Best starting pitcher on the best team in baseball.
Clemens: Completely carried the pitching staff of the current Wild Card team on his back. 18 wins and still dominating at 40 years old.
Gagne: Easily the best relief pitcher in the NL, most likely in the MLB. He might possibly have the best fastball, curveball, and changeup in the NL.
Johnson: The most dominating pitcher in baseball this year, leading the MLB in every category other than wins due to his shitty team. The Braves will agree with this pick.
Pavano: With Beckett, Burnett, and Willis all injured/struggling, Pavano turned out the best season of his career. Best pitcher in the NL in the month of September.
Peavy: Leads the MLB in ERA. And he has to face Bonds and Beltre and pitch at Coors Field on a regular basis.
Scmidt: Absoultely unhittable in the first half. He caught Muldritis in the 2nd half but at the All Star Break he was considered a lock for this award. The amount of 1 and 2 hit games is amazing.
Sheets: Strikeout machine, second only to Randy. Playing on a shitty team hurt him but he was lights out for a while.
Zambrano: Before the season started, the Cubs were supposed to have the best starting 5 in baseball. Prior Wood and Clement didn't live up to the hype but Zambrano exceeded expectations and emerged as the ace.

Johnson's been dominant, but the award is always given to the most dominant pitcher with the most wins. Going by that, I'll say Clemens gets it.

I would just like to point out that the Blue Jays weren't great last year and Halladay still won it. Granted the Jays were nowhere near as bad as the Diamondwaddings, but they were never in playoff contention.

Halladay won 21 games, was second in strike outs, one of the lowest ERA's annnnnd was considered by the players to be the best pitcher last year.
