No way should those two get anywhere near playing the Cajun, especially Russel Crowe and at the moment no one knows who will be in the next instalment.

If there is another movie it won't be till at least 2008-9 since Bryan Singer has signed on to do Superman

No way is it going to be a big star.

Personally, I'm against putting Gambit in X3. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. He's too similar to Wolverine. They already have a badass loner for whom Rogue has unrequited love. As cool as Gambit is, he's redundant as far as the movies are concerned.

I'd like to see Angel play a prominent role in X3. Possibly even someone like Havok (Scott turns to his brother for counseling after Jean's "death").

X-3 will be clearly the Phoenix Saga.So you will see alot of the characters from that Saga.Im all for Gambit being put in but im hoping Apocalypse and Archangel are put in some time

To put it in wrestling terms, Gambit has "drawing power" and because he's so "over" the crowds are sure to come just for him, but at the same time there are a lot of comic book smarks out there who feel that Gambit was the icon of an age when style was covetted more than substance. He had a kind of kewlness to Wolverine's coolness. Personally I agree with loopy. Angel would be a much better choice visually.

Well if they follow some of the Ultimate X Men series or X Men Evo like they seem to be doing then Gambit could probaably start off as a bad guy working for Apocalypse or Magneto, who could then change sides. I don't care if the character is close to Wolverine, as in they are both loners. Gambit is a great character, my favourite comic book character. He is the don to put it in other words.
Work is due to start on the film very soon, so I'm expecting a 2006 release date still. The film will be awesome, so many different storylines that can be chosen. If it is the Phoenix Saga then I'm looking foward to seeing the Hellfire Club and if they want to take it that far then we could see the Shi'ar, lilandra would be a pretty cool character. Giving Professer X a love storyline.
I like Loopydate's idea of Havok being brought in, that would be a pretty cool storyline.
There's so much that could be done, I would love Angel to be in it in his original form. He could be a superhero that the X Men bump in to and goes on to help them and longer join them. At the end of the film he could have his wings amputated, thus leading to a story with Apocalypse in X-4 if there is one.

I wouldn't do a Shi'Ar or Apocalypse story just yet.

The first two films have set up a very real (if not a bit twisted, what with the mutants and all) world, where normal people just happen to have these bizarre powers. If you suddenly throw them into deep space or have someone travel from an alternate future, that's going to lose a big chunk of the audience.

Now, X-3 is the movie where you start to hint that there may be more at work than simply evolution. When Jean returns in her Phoenix form, you're laying groundwork for these kinds of stories, and possibly by the time X4 rolls around, people will be ready for the out-of-this-world stuff.

And I like the idea of using Gambit as a villain. They've already changed the comic story by not having Rogue start off as a villain, so having Gambit as a lesser villain in 3 could work. As long as they don't rush a Gambit-Rogue storyline. Maybe have him go for Storm or something (assuming they can get Halle Berry back).

My idea for Angel is this:

The movie starts at a big dinner party, celebrating some new business venture by Worthington Enterprises. Charles is there (along with a couple of X-Men, say Scott, Bobby, and Rogue) to congratulate his old friend, Warren. Warren spends the whole first scene wearing an overcoat, with the purple-haired Betsy on his arm. At the end of the evening, after everyone's gone home, Warren and Betsy retire to the bedroom, where he removes his coat to reveal...BIG FUCKING WINGS! You'd think this would shock Betsy, but she just smiles as her eyes glow purple, and the credits roll.

We find out later that he was one of the original students at the Institute, but shunned the "superhero" lifestyle to start his own business. However, later in the film when the villain (say, for example, the Hellfire Club) come out with the information that Jean is alive and on their side, Warren decides to revert to his Angel persona and join the X-Men, promising that it's only going to be a one-off thing.

I like Danny E's idea about using him as the impetus for an Apocalypse story. Either have him seriously injure his wings in battle or throw in a Legacy tease, requiring an amputation.

Loopy I'll join you in being a geek. I love the X Men universe. I like the idea of introducing Angel and Psylocke. As long as they get someone stunning to play her.
I understand what you mean about the shock of the deep space, maybe it would be a step to far.
If there is something to do with the Legacy virus then this would bring in Beast or more like Dr Henry McCoy and if they wanted bring in Colossus in a more serious storyline with Magick being brought in to.
As I've said before the universe is so wide, from what I've seen so far it does seem to be following the Ultimate X Men series. They could play on the storyline of Iceman giving up being a part of the X Men as it's what his family want. Then coming back when Rogue is put into trouble, possibly by Pyro who we see change sides at the end of X-2.

Fox has already targeted May 2006 for X3 to open, with this coming summer as their goal to start shooting. Bryan Singer is not doing X3 at all. Tough to say if he will do any other X-Men movie since he left rather abruptly.
They haven't hired a director yet, but Simon Kinberg has been hired to write it. He re-wrote drafts for the upcoming Elektra and Fantastic Four movies.

I hear he is quite the comic lover, so I have confidence the script is in good hands, for now.

Hopefully he won't be. Gambit is ok but he's just so incredibly overated.
