I'm starting to see that they're building up Orton the right way now. With last nights RKO fest, he's looking more and more credible and he's getting over a lot more as a face.

Actually now that i think about it, that whole RKOfest sounds very Austin 99. Stunnering everything that moves and all.

SWEET!

Speaking of Austin... Anyone (who's seen RAW) notice that Coach sold the RKO like Rock would the Stunner?

It was pretty cool with that RKO fest... Looks like Randy is getting the right kind of support, now if only WWE can use him well...

It was pretty cool. I don't care if they're using the Austin treatment again... as long as it works. :D

But that's not a very good move name :shifty:

I used to hate it when Austin would go on his Stunning rampages, but I really enjoyed Orton last night. Now, as long as he doesn't do this every freaking week, I'll be ecstatic.

Great way to build up the character, though.

Hence why the called it the RKO not the Randy Keith Orton.Back in the day Jake the Snake use to call the DDT Damiens Dinner Time

I knew it stood for his name I just never knew K was for Keith.

Did anyone else think that Orton looked bigger last night.

He might have to do it every week though. If you go back to 97, Austin was stunning the Hart's, HBK, Mankind, Taker, Vince left and right every week. But the thing was that the fans never got tired of it and I really don't see the fans getting tired of Orton if he's just laying out the roster all the time. Eventually, you have to get a few segments in there where Evolution gets the best of Orton though.

Yeah, but the key word is a "few" times where Evo get some heat on him. Its like I was saying over at the RAW thread I would say the show should end similar to tonight about 80-85% of the time between now and Mania. Peopel are marks for whoever the flavour of the month is. When Hogan was over, people couldn't get enough of him Hulking up and destroying everyone every week. Ditto for Austin.

The problem with the WWE is that HHH wants to play the ultra badass heel (which is somewhat of an oxymoron) and he wants Evo to be the same. Thats why they've had Orton not only get beat down, but he's also done a JOB beyond the title match at Unforgiven. Thats rediculous. And thats why orton will never get over anywhere near the level they need him to. People dont want to pay money to see their "hero" wind up "unconscious" and looking like pussy.

Naw, he still sucks.

But maybe you know, a fued between him and Edge would suck too.

Last night's attack was cool, but it's nothing we haven't seen before (see: Smackdown a couple weeks ago with Big Show, see: Austin in 99, see: Austin in 01, see: Sting with the nWo, you get the picture).

They need for him to develop some sort of freshness that we haven't seen before that keeps the fans coming back for more. John Cena has that certain "it" that makes you mark out when he walks out to the ring; the same type of "it" that Rock and Austin had in their primes. I still don't feel that "it" from Randy Orton yet.

But I'll give it time.

That is what I have been saying. Orton has always seemed forced and fake. It seems like they are forcing him into this role, while Cena evoled into his role, and is a natural fit.

They need to have something similar to when Flair took Austin off TV back in 2002. Following Taboo Tuesday, have Orton permanently banned from Raw by Bischoff, and then show up through the crowd and randomly RKO people, mess things up backstage, sabatoge the sound trailer so that half a show takes place with no pyro, music, or videos, and do things to generally disrupt the show. Keep this going through to the end of the year, and then send Orton into the Royal Rumble. However, don't have him win from number 1, since they just had Benoit do that. Instead have him somehow but someone's number or somesuch just previous to the Rumble, and book the Rumble with Bischoff swearing that Orton won't be in the Rumble, and Orton swearing he'll be there some way.

I loved the "RKO fest" and never got tired of it with Austin. Hope it continues.

The no music/videos/pyro thing would actually be a cool idea.

Soon they should have Orton shave his head and drive an ATV to the ring

Something different like that, just to distinguish him from Austin's antics. Have it fall into a HHH segment, and afterwards have him on Bischoff's ass because he didn't look impressive.

Yeah having Orton pull a Stone Cold would work about as well as Orton ripping off the Rock. Next.

Coldwaver- If they did your idea, people on this board would be complaining non-stop about how they're tired of it and have seen it all before. And I would be one of those people.

More on this, it should be mentioned that RAW ratings recently have went down from hour one to #2. Since Orton-HHH is the new focal point of the shows, that cant be a good sign, and supports the theory that beating him early was a bad idea. Well the whole face turn was a bad idea, but there's no need to go there.

The other thing is that even if he does get over and even if Mania is reaosnably successful with him in one of the top two or three spots, it still doesn't change the fact that chasing the title for the first time would be more valuable that winning it for a second time. Especially since they could have played off his quest to beocme the youngest WWE champ of all time, and had to accomplish the feat at Mania or fail. To me that would have been a better story, but its too late now.

Ya I agree with Cynick ^

It would have been better if he and HHH switched roles (Face/Heel)

Hell no. HHH would suck as a face. For soem reason I think HHH as champ right now is perfect timing almost, i say almost because he should've won it off Benoit or something then randy and HHH could've started this feud. But we all know what the WWE's like eh, it wont be long before we see a 19 yr old as the youngest world champion in the wwe.
