Just picked this game up today at Target.. pretty nice.. cause you get a free $10 gift certificate. So the game was practically only $40. Anyway.. haven't really played it yet.. but I will put it in tonight and tell you what I think.

Anyone else picked up the game or going to?

So.. yeah. played MKD for a little bit earlier. The konquest mode is kind of funny.. Has a GTA3/Vice City feel to it the way you're free to roam around.. talk to some of the NPCs and can even beat them up if you'd like. Some of the NPC's have you go around doing little tasks for them.. like searching for them.. searching for lost items.. retrieving items etc. Haven't gotten far enough to see what's the story really like though. As for the arcade mode.. it's fun, especially when you're hitting them into walls and send them flying to another part of the map. One thing that I dislike though.. is the move lists :/ I mean, have you noticed how SF2 and MK1.. all the special attacks were so easy to remember... and as game progresses.. the move lists just gets more complicated each time? Anyway.. good & fun game so far.

There's also a Chess game and a Puzzle game.. but I haven't really played those yet.

Got it earlier today for $40 but haven't played it. Looks good from what I did see my brothers doing, I'll play it tomorrow and pass judgment. I'd have to say that the tetris-like game is a huge plus since I am a fan of such, the chess aswell.

SideNote: did anyone have a preorder for the collector's cases? Couldn't get our hands on the one we wanted so gave up on it.

I was lookin' to see if they had the premium one too.. but apparently they didn't. Not sure when those are going to be shipped out.. doesn't really matter anymore, cause I'm not going to buy another copy of the game. Lol.

Anyway.. the puzzle game is confusing. It's not really tetris.. more like.. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. But it's still fun, kind of.

The Chess game is really fun though. Even if you don't know how to play chess, it doesn't matter.. cause it'll let you know which pieces move where. (Although, the pawns movements are wrong, since you're allow to move diagonal whenever you want, but who cares). Each time you take a person's square, the two are engaged in a battle, and whoever wins the match keeps the square. etc. etc. Pry have to play it to really understand what I'm trying to say.

The premium packs and Kollector's edition (which is what I pre-ordered) were delayed a day. Lord only knows why. All I know is that I was highly pissed after calling gamestop 3 days in a row and each time they told me, "Yeah, it will be here on the 5th". So I get there today (Tuesday) and I get "Oh sorry, that's not going to be in untill tomorrow". I officially hate Gamestop now.

Anyway from what I hear most people are pretty happy with the way it turned out. I do wish they would of spent a little more time on the actual fighting... but what can ya do? It just gets pretty annoying when you are trying to play a match with a friend and you have to keep pausing to check the moves list to find out which attack can be linked with another. Maybe I just got spoiled with VF and DOA, but I like being able to push PPK, PP Down + Kick, PP Forward + Kick, PK, P up + kick, etc etc and get a different combo everytime. MK seems a but too controlled. Hence is why I think sadly this will be the last Mk I play unless Boon wises up and realizes it's not 1996 anymore and gaming has evolved. Meh... still can't wait to get online with it though :)

There are too many decent games out recently, Sims 2, THUG2, MKD, Def Jam, Burnout 3, SvR...not enough time :'(

After playing it earlier I'd have to say that it's pretty well put together. The three different fighting styles they have is what keeps throwing me off same way as it did in Deadly Alliance, just can't seem to get the hang of it for some stupid reason. The extra stuff is well done, and well worth it, Konquest inculded. Still only day two so evaluation is still in progress, I'm liking Kira though.

He also lists them for all the unlockable characters too, and infos on how to get them.

Damn it.. anyone else beside me who've played the Versus mode on this game... find it nearly impossible to beat Onaga? The difficulty of this game is so crazy, that it drops the fun factor of this game down to a 3.

Really not liking this game. It feels like the same game as Deadly Alliance with a less impressive roster. Zombie Liu Kang, and Noob-Smoke are pretty cool, but other than that I'm not too impressed with anything about the game. The only good thing I can really say about it is that I got it for free so I didn't waste any money.

Edit: I thought of one thing. The suicide moves are a pretty cool addition :y:

Some guy was on xbox live earlier today and he said "I got a chicken wing in one hand, and I'm bout to kick your ass." I flawless victoried him and then did Sub Zero's fatality and said you better put down that chicken wing. played again and he quit the second time.

Don't care too much for Mortal Kombat. The original two games were good, but they got outdated too quickly. I saw one of the more recent titles a while back (can't remember if it was 3 or 4) and it looked like the game makers decided that quicker movements would substitute for a lack of fluid motion. So here we have so and so slashing with his little sword at lightning speed while his opponent sways back and forth on the balls of her feet like she's got parkinsons and I'm expected to believe that there are really two people out there who fight like this?

I think it's only US players. I played on XBox Live and it has an option to choose where you're from; and all the choices seem to be US States.

I winded up breaking this game last night, damn Onaga. I hate when bosses are so cheap that I can only beat him with certain characters. I flawlessed him twice with Bo' Rai Cho in Drunken Fist, but with Kabal, no matter which combo I did (they're all too quick, about 3 hits each), he countered with that cheap throw. All I have is that bonus disc that wasn't really worth the extra $10 since MK1 is just as cheap (turtling only seems to work for the AI.) Konquest mode is ok but too repetitive, plus I just feel sorry for Shujinko since they took him at age 12 and completely ruined his life.

HAHAHAHA. I 100% totally understand and agree with what you've just said. Onaga is such bullshit.. and at times I just feel like breaking the game too. But never did, my friend borrowed it for the past two weeks now.. maybe I'll sell it to him. That way.. I don't have to break it and get the money to buy a different game.

I got to watch Toke play this last night. I /love/ the opening movie, and after reading the history of the game, I'm impressed how they took several actual endings from Deadly Alliance. In turn, it makes me happy that Reptile is in the game, but not as a playable character..
Reptile - Leave me be...

Is that all he does or is there a way to fight him or something (like they did with Jax)

BTW I am loving Dark Raiden. It'd be pretty interesting if the Earthrealm warriors had to rise against him in the next MK.
