View Full Version : Stupidest mark I have ever met

Ok I met this guy at work who has the most ridiculous views on wrestling, that I just feel the need to share with you all

First of all he thinks how good of an in ring worker you are has nothing to do with if you are a good wrestler. Just your win/loss record. Being able to put on a great match means jack shit if you don't get the win. He thinks anyone who uses technical wrestling sucks. Also apparently Undertaker is the only true legend in the history of the business, because Ric flair and Harley Race and such never did anything in their career but get their ass kicked. And now some selected Quotes:
"Benoit sucks because he couldn't keep Triple H from the belt."
"Japanese wrestlers all suck because wrestling was invented in america and they are just trying to copy us."
"Undertaker and the Big Show are the best wrestlers in the company right now."
"Goldberg rules"

Don't take this post the wrong way. I don't have anything against marks.Hell, before I met this guy I never even used the word. You should be able to watch wrestling however you want. But this guy is just a dick about it. He treats everyone like they are morons who don't know a thing about wrestling, then he says this shit. Sorry to rant but I had to get that off my chest.

Now you see the proof right there. This is what I have been saying a few times in the difference between marks and smarks. There is a reason whyb Taker still draws. That kid just said it. He is a consumer of the product and I bet most casual fans feel the same way.

I don't know what Benoit has to do with HHH getting the belt back, but with that statement you can see how "wrestler x" is viewed as a loser because he couldn't win the big one and lost to HHH. That's Orton right there.

You have to remember, these people have no idea what goes on backstage, they only know what is happening on TV. Taker demolishes everybody = he is the best. Benoit gets beat down all the time by Evolution = he sucks. That's the story.

That is why Orton needs to beat the shit out of everyone almost every week. People like ass kickers who never lose, plain and simple.

People also like people that are good on the mic, which is why not many people like Orton.

^^Well, that's half true. Goldberg, Taker, Warrior. All were over and all had zero mic skills. With Orton, he does need to talk, but if he could go out there and say something like "Now I want HHH, Evolution and whomever else back in that locker room who has a problem with me to get out here right now because I'm about to show everyone what it's like to be hit with an **THROWS MIC UP** R.....K......O.....

That's all he needs to do really.

I was talking to one of my friend's house mates, and he was going on about Raw being vastly superior and Smackdown having no good wrestlers.

I brought up Angle and Eddie, and his response was "They're good for Smackdown, but they wouldn't last 5 minutes on Raw..."

My response was :|

The diffrence between Orton and Taker Goldberg and Warrior is that those guys didnt need to talk... They were/are basicly silent monsters... Orton, on the other hand, isnt a powerhouse like them, and he needs something to back up his wrestling skills for the marks...

And only because he's a bitch about it, not because he believes all that crap.

They won't though. They go to raw and say;

Kurt: We are Kurt an Eddie and we cant beat the best!
HHH comes out and a handicap match starts after 4 mins HHH pedigrees both of them and wins.

The real question is who enjoy wrestling more, Marks or SMARKS? Marks complain but it has nothing to with politics, it's all based on on-screen characters. Marks also don't worry about future storylines/angles/fueds, it's all about the present. Smarks want longer matches, Marks will take either as long as the match is fun. Smarks hate spotfests and hardcore junk, but Marks love that stuff.

Most people memorable moments came from when they were MARKS!!!

If you tell a Mark, Hogan is not one of the greatest of all time, they will look at you strange.

LC, you make it sound like the vast majority of wrestling fans are complete fucking morons like the guy this new guy was talking about. (BTW, Hi new guy...fignuts...)but the truth is that I highly doubt that this guy that fignuts was talking about represents a majority of the 3.0 ratings that wrestling shows continually get. This is the kind of fan who flips through the channels and catches wrestling on, watches it for five minutes, then flips back to fucking real world/road rules whatever.

Fig should ask the guy what happened last monday. For instance, "Stupid guy, did you see the speech Rick Flair made about virgins? I heard he got in big trouble because of it." and the dumbass would probably say "Derf...no....Taker rulzors" (and he would actually say "rulzors" too which would only complement his stupidicy.)

My point is that these fans (who may or may not out number us) are not the target audience of the WWE, because they're not the prime ratings demographic of the WWE. If the WWE wants its ratings to rise again, they need to smarten us back up. Break Kayfaybe again and train these idiots to watch hardcore like us. THat's the only way the WWE will come out of this. Don't bend the programming around the fingers of morons...bend the morons around our fingers. And speaking of fingers and Rick Flair's virgins....oh never mind.

Why would he ask the guy did Flair get in trouble? Marks don't go on the net,not that much.

I must admit, am one of those guys who watch ROad Rules or RW vs.RR on MTV during Raw. It's like my new Nitro. I learn how to flip between the two. Raw sometimes can get boring, I need to change the channel sometimes. Oddly enough, I never change the channel during SMackdown and Impact but yet Raw get higher ratings?

You said break kayfabe but the fans will not watch Raw everyweek just to see normal stuff. Everybody don't like long matches(20 minutes or more) between two guys they don't care about. How many long matches we seen in the Attitude era on Raw. Alot of people is turn off by guys like Benoit,Shelton Benjamin, etc. If that was the case, Raw ratings will be even worse.

I actually think WWE listen to the net too much this year. They change their minds every month like the net about things. Catering to internet fans will hurt them even more.
