Remember that season the Dolphins went undefeated that entire season... I wanna say '72 but I have too much fear that I'm wrong on the year. Anyway watchin SportsCenter and they actually had the nerve to compare the greatness of the Dolphins of that season to this undefeated streak of the Pats.
I honestly don't like it. I mean on one side you have a team that went undefeated an entire season. The only team I can think of that came close was the 15-1 Vikings even though they lost like midway through the season to the Bucs.
And on the otherside you have a team that started winnin games somewhere in the season and continued winnin in the next season.
To make such a comparison as the Pats really bein that good is beyond me. I'm just lookin for thoughts on do you really think that the pats of this season and last season deserve to be put on the same pedistal as the undefeated Dolphins?
I'm goin with no.

Who cares if they're undefeated so far this season. Look at the teams they've been playing. Cardinals? Bills? Dolphins next? They barely beat the Colts. The only challenge they have this season.. will be their next 3 games after the dolphins. Then they're just going back to playing crap teams this season.

First of all you weren't alive in 1972. Second of all there are at least three topics where the Patriots are the main point of discussion. Third of all, I doubt they will go undefeated, their run defense is a bit worse than in the years past. If they go undefeated it would be pretty cool, and I think they would be considered equals to the Dolphins and also pretty much a dynasty, but I don't think they will.

They do deserve to be on the same level as the Dolphins, because they won the same number of games in a row, and the Patriots are going to break the record for games in a row.

Uncle Tom, you're an idoit.
Also the dolphins didn't have a salary cap to deal with.

The salary cap complain is stupid, how many good players have they lost to the cap in the past three years? I can't think of any more than Lawyer Milloy and he sucks now anyways.

LOL I'm sorry, but that sounded ridiculous, the way you opened there.
"The uh... Dolphins? Yeah, Miami... in the year, I think 1972? Maybe it was 73... I don't know, I didn't watch them at all. But anyways, somebody was saying that this year's Pats are better than them, WHAT THE FUCK?! That's fucking crazy, the '86 Dolphins were fucking dominant. How anyone can even compare them is mind-boggling. '46 Dolphins 4 lyf"
Anyways, the Bears also went 15-1 in '85.
Also, how the hell can you say the Pats' streak isn't impressive?! Because it happened over 2 seasons? OH DEAR FUCKING LORD, THE PATRIOTS ARE CONSISTENT. THAT MEANS THEY ARE AWFUL. Get real. It's even more impressive because of the way the league is nowadays. The '72 Dolphins didn't have a salary cap. Do you think with one they would have been as good as they were? No. That is why the Patriots are so impressive. In the modern NFL where it is very rare to keep the same core of players year after year, they still have developed a very good team chemistry and can win with it.
Anyways, even if the Pats lose a couple games this season, they're still good. They could lose next week against Miami and go 15-1, but they've still won 15 games in the season. No single game is an easy win for any team, because every game is totally different. That is what makes any type of consecutive winning streak amazing. There are no teams that have zero chance of winning any game, and that makes for great football. Someone else mentioned the calibre of teams they beat. To that I say, bullshit. The Cardinals are awful, but guess what? EVERY SINGLE GAME this year, they have been in. They haven't lost any blowouts, and were within 7 points in every game except the one against the Pats. And even then, the Pats were HEAVILY favored, and Arizona still put up a fight. They barely lost to one of this year's better teams in Atlanta. And look at the Bills too. Yeah they're 0-3, and their offense is horrible, but they could very well be 3-0. Their first two games were lost by 3 points apiece, and the game against the Pats was within their grasp until that fumble recovery TD which ended it. There's more to how good or bad a team is than simply their record. In week 3, Detroit was 2-0 but everybody knew they weren't one of the best teams in the league. Likewise, just because the teams the Patriots beat aren't all undefeated doesn't mean they are pushovers.
RAaaaar I spent too much time arguing that I forgot what I'm even trying to say now

You hit it on the head. With the Free Agency era and Salary Cap, it is so hard to keep a team together.
The NFL is so close compared to earlier generations that every team can do anything on any given day.
Makes it to me, the most exciting sports league to watch.

I know that the Dolphins had a pretty dominate running back attack. Didn't they only win the Bowl by like 7? Even then Garo Yepremian botched a FG or something like that? If I remember correctly.

The Pats streak is impressive especially with the level of competition in the Nfl these days.Sure the Cards,Bills, fins aren't great but this team had mad heart. In indy last year I remember them stopping the colts on 1st and goal at the one 4 times with the game near it's end. That's impressive.I believe the streak will end next week though against the seahawks
