View Full Version : Biggest mark out moment at a live event
I don't believe we've had this topic before.. and if we did oh well, let's do it again.
Anyone who's been to a live event knows the atmosphere is just indescribable, you HAVE to go there to feel it, so marking out is like 10000x better when you're at a live event. So.. what's your biggest mark out moment at a live event?
For me.. the only live event i've been to was summerslam 2004, and since i avoided all internet spoilers, i thought Benoit vs Orton was just Orton being Benoit's next victim, i was a real orton mark and didn't think he had a chance to win, all of a sudden RKO.. i was like "oh yay benoit's gonna kick out of a finisher.. how cool" and then i hear the 3, first i thought i was hearing things.. and then all of a sudden everyone around me goes insane.. and i was like HOLY F;AKSFJ;KSAFJLASKFJ;A214QOR32J (i lack a better description) and just went wild, i almost ripped my orton sign in half because i was Jumping up and down so much, i wanted to take off my legend killer tour shirt and wave that in the air too lol... it was an amazing feeling and i couldn't talk for the next 2 days.
so.. describe your "special moments"
we're all marks at one time or another, and i bet at live events that rule applies the most :)

Mind Games PPV when HBK and Mankind both went through a table. That was the first time I ever saw anyone go thruough a table.
The same PPV The Undertaker came in during a match and before he came out the Arena got really cold.

I was at No Way Out 2002. Sylvain Grenier was there. My friend was an indy wrestler at the time, and wrestled for the same fed as Grenier. He had no idea the guy would be there, and when we saw him, we were just REALLY happy to see a guy we know succeed.

I met Bret Hart and got his autograph. It was at the Hartford Civic Center, it was opening day for ticket sales for the first Nitro ever at the Civic Center. Bret and the Nitro Girls where signing autos and greeting fan's as you went through to get tix. Definately a cool experiance. BTW it was the Nitro that the Ultimate Warrior made his debut for WCW.

At a house show in Cincinnati, the main event was Bret Hart versus Owen Hart. Bret won the match with the Sharpshooter, and he wouldn't let go of it after the bell. They kept ringing the bell, but he still wouldn't let go. After a while of the bell-ringing not working, they started making announcments that if Bret didn't release the Sharpshooter, he was going to get fined a certain amount of money. I forget the amount exactly. Still, he kept the hold on. A bit later, another announcement was made about a fine, but this time for more money. This went on until the amount got up to like $10,000.
I didn't exactly flip out or anything. Bret and Owen were two of my favorite wrestlers, so I didn't really know what to think. I thought Bret had just snapped. I call it a mark out moment just because I thought it was real for a minute.

Rock/Hogan WMX8 - I've never seen a crowd, at any sporting event as raucous as that night. I think the wrestlers were shocked as well, Rock was certainly shocked by the booing.
Also - Edge's Spear on Jeff Hardy off a ladder at WM 17. Holy Sh*t indeed.

I didn't move to the Detroit area until 2002, so I've only been to live events this year. But I have seen a few moments such as HHH/Kane Casket Match with HBK appearing at the end, Lesnar beating the hell out of Gowen (which had a real nasty chair shot to Zach's head), and even though the results weren't that great, going to the Draft this past March was really awesome. Got to see Austin live for the first time, had a wild crowd all night, saw both RAW and SmackDown superstars in the same building, and had one of the best endings to RAW this year.
Even though I didn't get to meet her, while waiting outside in August for SmackDown, Miss Jackie jogged right by us.

I didn't expect him to be there that night, and when his music hit, everyone was "WTF....BULLDOG!" and the place went nutts. I also managed to catch The Rock's elbow pad when he threw it into the crowd

Mine happened a few weeks before WM19 Smackdown in Pittsburgh, all the talk was Kurt had drop the belt to Brock because of injury and set up a main event that was pretty much set that Brock would win, the had the curve ball, did the switch thing with Kurt and his brother Eric Angle, Kurt came back in rolled Brock up and KEPT THE TITLE, I MARKED OUT SO BAD! Knowing Kurt was then gonna wrestle at WM 19

Coincidently if you watched the PPV on tape you can see Crash Holly 'challenging an Englishmen'. Tv spoils everything.
Anyway WOoh.. Crash holly and Bulldog are bothe dead now.
RIP.
you guys are making me feel bad for not going to Wrestlemania X8 lol.. i really should have gone
oh well just seing it on my tv and knowing it was happening so close to where i live, was also a good feeling
