View Full Version : Is Edge moving into the X-Pac zone?

I've noticed that Edge never really got much of a response when he returned from injury. Yeah, he got a reasonable face reaction but not a great one. During the 'near-turn' thing with Jericho, he didn't really get booed much. I don't think this tweener stance is working for him at all. Now, he's on the near-turn path again, he's again not playing it well at all. The boo's weren't exactly loud at last week's Raw....I think perhaps a programme with Christian either against him or allied with him (not as a regular tag-team though) is one way out of this, as Christian is a far more believable heel than he is right now....

Out of the wrestlers like Orton, Eugene,Undertaker who deserves to be in XPAC zone they pick Edge. I don't know why they booing Edge. This whole Edge thing reminds me of when the fans turn on the Rock.

I think Edge is far more talented, so I think whenever they make it clear what direction they want to go with him (ie as a heel) he'll get over.

Edge is a far better wrestler than X-Pac.

I also happen to like what they are doing with Edge now... though I wish they would just turn him 100% heel already.

I'm hoping that what Edge is suffering from now is similar to what the Rock had when he started. Edge just needs to do the heel turn and then he's away as a mega heel.

He needs to be heel. His character is not as entertaining as on smackdown since he's only got Angry Edge and none of the Funny Edge right now.

Edge is no where near as bad as X-Pac

X-Pac: Blahhh *crotch chops* hate me hate me blahhh *sticks tongue out* (thinks to himself 'wow, these people really think I'm a good heel')

At least there's some support behind Edge, and most people here would love it if he returned to the character he had in 2000.

In case you didn't know, I don't like Edgeward.

As much as I don't like him, I think he is better than X-Punk. Just remember, Edge WAS entertaining at one time and X-pac.. well, sucks. Edgeward is bland now and he needs to revert into a dark character again or something, instead of his current "urg, I need attention, I hurt you!" thing going on with him.

So to FINALLY answer the question, yes, at the moment he is raising to that X-Pac heat.. but it won't be as much as X's but it's getting there.

No, no. There is a difference between X-Pac heat and not giving a shit. With Edge people just don't care what he does and he has no real heat one way or the other. X-Pac had "get the fuck off my tv and never come back" heat.

I would say Edge has "Edge Heat" but he has no heat.

Edge bores the arse off of me.

Same here, his matches are usually my third pissbreak of the night next to the womens matches and big noses usual half hour rants about nothing in paticular.

Edge is just the same character / blue chipper babyface right now. The situation he's in is begging for him to turn heel, finally.

Edge may receive heat after a full heel turn, but a lot of it will probably be X-Pac heat due to his lackluster matches.

Edge is a solid worker, actually so was X-Pac, but I think Edge is a better "WWE" wrestler than X-Pac was. I think once they turn Edge hell full fledge, and let him hook back up with Christian, you'll see him get over again. But I dont get why people would say he's trash in the ring, because he's not.

Gouda

I concur 100%. Edge isn't trash in the ring. He's just got a bad character right now.

Maybe that's what the WWE is trying to do. Make the fans so bored with his character as a tweener that when he does turn heel, he's a bigger and more successful heel than ever before!

...or maybe the WWE just doesn't know what the fuck they're doing.

Brian Gerwitz: Did we turn Edge yet?

Steph McMahon: Yeah, I thought we turned him at Summerslam.

Booker 1: No, we teased it at Summerslam, but we didn't turn him.

Gerwitz: So what? Is he still a fuckin tweener???

Booker 1: No, I think he's a face. He's one of the possible opponents for Triple H on Tuesday.

Gerwitz: Then why the fuck do we keep having him attack Jericho?!?!

Steph: I don't know! Daddy! Is Edge a face or a heel?

Vince McMahon: ...Edge? Who's Edge?

i disagree, in manchester, he got the 2nd biggest heel reaction behind rob conway

well the boo's were pretty loud live in manchester but they were dubbed down quite a bit on tv. edge does simply doesn't do anything for me at the moment. what the hell happened to his 'when i get all healed up,i want a match with jericho first' angle. and now he's got pushed up to the top and left jericho in the intercontinental picture.

as much as orton's face push was rushed and botched, a heel turn for edge can't come fast enough - well he did spear benoit and HBK last week and got booed out of the place, does that count as a turn?!

Edge has sure as hell bored me since he returned. E & C seem to be the only way to make him entertaining again but I think Christian is doing perfectly well on his own. I think they made a mistake sending him to Raw as he was doing just fine on SMackdown.

My mate spoke to Edge last week in Sheffield for 1/2 hour and he said that the won't be doing that again, or at least it's not in the pipe line right now

Although it would rule, if they did it like a Jericho/Christian partnership, so they both have established singles careers and Tag rather than being just a tag team

And i dissagree with the Xpac not being as talented as Edge.

Shawn Walterman just got very lazy, he was an outstanding talent in his earlier years in the WWF, Bret vs 123 Kid is a great match. But once he got involved in the Clique i'm sure he realised that he could still get the job done without killing himself in his matches.

Edge right now is performing to the best of his abilities (that i've seen) and to be fair he's average at best, You can hardly call him techincally sound, he doesn't do high flying moves, he''s not a power house either, there is not 1 thing about Edge that you can put him in a catogory for.

I think it's fairly sfae to say that he's going to turn heel soon and hopefully this will ignite a new side to him that we haven't seen yet, but as of right now he's not impressed me

What Would Kevin Do?

In theory, if HBK fights HHH, they would have Benoit and Edge teaming up to fight La Resistance. Benoit and Edge lost the belts to them originally, remember?

Here's what they should do. Have Edge get so pissed at not being in the main event, he just leaves. He doesn't even show up for the tag match.

The next night on Raw, Edge is angry, but he's more moody, depressed sorta, yadda yadda yadda. IN theory, and as bad as it may sound, have Edge try to have a Raven esque gimmick. If Edge could do it, it would be great. The problem is, if he botched it, it would blow horribly. Have Edge spout off random speeches about not getting what he deserves, the people only liking him because he's a pretty boy, etc. Edge could even cut his hair short (he does want to), and say he's sick of being a pretty boy, and that he's not eye candy for the desolate masses, etc..

Hey, it could work.

Granted it could work, but lets not go down the Raven route. There's a guy called Scott on TNA who does it alot better then Edge ever could

Touche. It's better than pseudo angry Edge though. Edge needs something new, and without Christian, I really don't buy cocky Edge. I thought he was a retarted surfer on Smackdown. The only other path I can really see Edge taking is cutting his hair and joining Evolution.

BTW, Edge needs to stop using the spear as a finisher. It looks weak.

I agree with WWKD. Edge has got in a good nitch character wise right now. THe only thing he really needs is good writing to help him develop his character. For the moment, all we're seeing is an occasional hissey fit from him once every two or three weeks. I honestly think that the WWE could gain more by gambling on an Edge push than a Snitzky push, but I guess Vince would prefer a half assed push over a complete push that would have really gotten Edge over as the tweener or heel he's supposed to be.
