like the red sox thread, but for the Pats.

Instead of having 786216759 different topics about the team, just use this one for general discussion.

They just beat the Seahawks for their 20th straight win and 17th consecutive regular season win *which also ties THAT record.

I actually would like to see the Pats go all the way undefeated aswell. Then the whole winning streak would mean a helluva lot more. With the Pats it wouldn't be like some random team real good one year and doing this amazing feat, they are actually a really good team, and if any recent team was going to do it I would like it being the Pats rather than the Rams or something. That being said, it kinda sucks cause the Pats may have been a little bit better last year, but maybe not at the same time?

How can you honestly rate the Vikings over the Eagles. Christ, the Eagles beat the Vikings already, that should tell you right there. Minnesota's defense is awful; Philadelphia's isn't.

VonErich Lives
10-22-2004, 12:08 AM
yeah, Pats then Eagles. Colts... dunno... I don't think they have the defense... thats gonna kill them in any big game.

Vikes, gotta see if Moss doesn't play, how they do... been doing well w/ RB roulette.

BCWWF
10-22-2004, 01:41 AM
The Vikings and Eagles game was just a joke, the Vikings were playing way too conservative. If they played again I wouldn't call the Eagles outright favorites, give them the edge but they weren't anything special against the Vikes.

Regardless, the Vikes are probably a bit high @ #4 right now

road doggy dogg
10-22-2004, 02:25 AM
Oh please. THE EAGLES BEAT THE VIKINGS, so clearly they are the better of the two teams. I don't know how else to put it. "It was the only quality team they played." Bullshit. The Giants, 4-1? Yeah. Detroit and Chicago are gimmes, but Carolina isn't horrible (granted they're not very good). The point is, Philly is beating the teams they should, although their win over Chicago left a bit to be desired. Minnesota is looking good, but guess what? They're 4-1. Philadelphia is unbeaten. They are the better team of the two right now. And that's totally not taking into consideration that Moss might not even play this week. But whateverrrrr. They're both good teams, but Philadelphia is better.

As for the Jets, I dunno. They're looking pretty good. Depends how long Martin can continue playing like this. Even then, if Martin starts slowing down, Pennington is good enough to keep the offense decent. His and Moss' numbers aren't that good right now, but that's because the Jets have been running the ball so well and haven't had the need to pass. I know it's an obvious statement, but their game against the Pats will show whether or not they're for real. They have had a very generous schedule so far, so that has to be taken into consideration. However, sometimes even simply winning the games you should be winning is all that matters. I think they're gonna be good this year, but not elite. They'll probably get a wildcard though.

Also, I think this year's Chargers are gonna be the same as last year's Bengals. Just instead, Brees = Kitna and Rivers = Palmer. If Rivers doesn't play at all this year, the Chargers are gonna be back to losing again next year. That's why the Bengals are looking so bad right now. The Chargers will probably finish 8-8 or so, but when Brees is gone and Rivers is starting, I don't think they'll do so good. I dunno, just something I thought offf

BCWWF
10-22-2004, 04:35 AM
I said that the Eagles were a better team. I also said that the Eagles were not far and away the better team. I said that if they play again the Eagles will not be a lock to win it. It will be close.

VonErich Lives

What a fun game... The first qtr was great... I think like 4 or 5 drives ate the whole qtr.

The jets had the clock and got all the way down and bang... big turnovers.

The pats got lucky, there turnover didn't hurt them... and when the defense had to come up big and stuff the Jets at the end hey did.

They kept showing pictures of schilling bloody sock, ortiz and from last nights sox game ortiz hr, bellhorn hr and foulkes final K.

forgot how much fun it was going to nfl games... what a great stadium... think I might have to get club seats next year (it's the only "season ticket" available, the others have like 60K on a waiting list).

Yeah, having no Moss is no excuse, we have four running backs who are all capable of carrying the load, and Burleson/Robinson/Campbell are all good enough to pick up the slack in Moss's absence. They did well enough without him against the Titans last week.

I dunno how well Culpepper played, but from what I watched of the game on NFL.com, he didn't look like the same guy who threw 5 TDs in three games. Can't really judge it very well from just watching the online shit though.

5-2 is still a great start, I can see another loss coming at Indy next week (which I personally won't mind :o) but the Packers are catching up

Giants are impressive, they only have the Packers and the Rams/Seahawks to be worried about as far as a playoff place goes.

Yeah, the Injury bug has hit hard... Dillon, Law, Gay, Light....

Ty Law left the stadium on crutches w/ a cast on... I'm a little worried about trying to cover STL rec w/o Law and Poole is also injured, Gay who was the backup got hurt, they had to move a Saftey to CB.

VonErich Lives
11-01-2004, 05:30 PM
So, 2 OL injured, 2 starting CB injured, backup CB injured, WR's injured... and the Pats still had a shot in the 4th.

I must admit, the Steelers still make me laugh... this is the team in 2001 we're doing interviews before the AFC championship talking about their superbowl plans and people they'd bring and where they were going to stay, etc... and then got their butt kicked in their own home.

So, they spend the whole offseason talking about how they were they better team and that was their trophy (the Raiders did this also) but the steelers really kept it going... so... what happened week #1? The Pats destroyed them, not even close!

So, now finally the Steelers w/ a new QB, new RB and others are saying "See, we told you in 2001 we were the better team, it only took us 2 years to prove it"

Meanwhile the Pats are saying... "Where's your ring?"

Steelers "We broke the streak, we broke the streak"

Pats "Yeah, we just want to be undefeated in the playoffs".

Anyway, I take nothing away from the steelers yesterday, yes the Pats had some major/key injuries, but you have to have depth which the Pats always have... More importantly, there were no injuries on the DL/LB and the Steelers OL (after the 1st) physically beat up the pats DL.

but, thats why we play 16 games and then the playoffs... I just really hope to meet them again in the playoffs. :)

You really have no clue as to what your talking about do you?

Roethlisberger picked apart there system?

Really, I'd like to know what game you watched. What won it for the steelers was the running game, the Steelers OL dominated the Pats DL/LB.

As I said, it's one loss and the Steelers earned that win, no bones about it...

but to try and pretend having out your starting LT, both start CB (one pro-bowler), a Backup CB and the starting RB didn't have any effect? Come'on, get real!

Injuries change the game, put Dillon back in there it's a different game. I'm not saying the Pats would have won, cause who knows, but the Loss of Dillon hurt the most.

As for the team you've cheered for, for 13 years...

umm, how many rings in those 13 years?

That's what I love about the steelers, finally, they feel they redeemed themselves from 2001, when they were making superbowl plans before playing the AFC championship... where they lost in their OWN HOME then game one the following year, they were going to prove how good they were and got their ass kicked.

Again, I take nothing away from the steelers wins, but it's the players and fans who somehow think this 1 win is better then having 2 superbowl rings, that really makes me laugh.

It's true of any team that wins... when one team wins, there are plenty of teams that don't... Plenty of "Why not me" fans...

Especially teams w/ long winning histories (Yankees, Celtics are the first two that come to mind).

I tell ya though, you almost gave me a woddie putting the Pats in the same league as the Yankees.

4 superbowls, 2 wins.

The only team I can really compare w/ the Yanks is the Celtics. Hockey, I would guess the Candiens? not sure, I'm not a huge hockey follower.

We beat the Eagles without our star runningback Duce Staley, so stop whining about Cory Dildo, who the Steelers used to stop twice a year.

AND IT'S SPELLED PITTSBURGH!

Don't worry, the Pats will see you in the AFC championship... of course, they might be playing and the Steelers will have to buy tickets! :)

Given this a bump.

Pats win again, would have been a different game w/ Lewis healthy, but a win is a win.

Pats will take the Division, they'll probably drop a game down the final stretch to like Cleveland or SF someone they should lose to. (see last year, Washington and Buffallo).

Law and Poole will be back for the playoffs.
Matt Light went down today, if he misses any time, that's a big loss.

AFC's got some hot teams, Pats, Steelers, Chargers.

It's being undefeated in the playoffs that counts.

Yeah i'm kinda glad the NFC is shit, meaning the Vikings can come 2nd and still get in the wildcard

Damn Pats are nasty

Troy Brown almost had another INT today  Also, Deion Branch is the fucking man. I am so glad he is back from injury. Patriots beat up on a Lewis-less Ravens team today which was cool. Mud bowl in New England and Snowbowl in Denver. Pretty "hot" day for NFL football
