Yeah, I'm thinking about starting a league. You don't need to sign up for some premium pass thing either. And the game is $15 from Best Buy if you want to go out and grab it. Also, you need a network adaptor.
For those of you who have the game, who would be interested in starting up a league? I played a few games online and the lag will take a little gitting used to, but I could probably get used to it.
Post your s/n if you play it online.

Live is better.

I bought Live but it is fucking terrible. Might try to sell it to my boss and get NBA 2k5.

Does Espn 2K5 have a dunkfest?
RoXer
10-17-2004, 10:06 PM
No. It doesn't need one either. If I wanted Mike Bibby dunking over Amare Stoudimire, I would get NBA Jam.
Trips, go with 2K5. $15 at Best Buy.

I still love live better. Better graphics.

Sure.
To get back on-topic, I have 4 non-tpww people who might be intersted in the league. I'm thinking about starting it in a week. Maybe 2.

Fuck man, I played a game tonight against this guy with a 2-1 record, so I thought I could take him...He like set his whole team on tight coverage with double teams on KG and Cassell, it was such a fast paced game, I was blown away by like 30 points.

ESPN 2k5 is awesome. So much better than Live (which is horrible this time around)
Triple A

OK I am definitely getting ESPN tomorrow and getting rid of fucking awful Live.

The computer is actually decent/smart in this game too. Even the computer controlled players on your own team.
For example, the players you don't control can see holes in the defense and cut in to the key without you doing any off-the-ball movement.
I've never seen a basketball game do that before. I'm very impressed.

I think the defense in ESPN is by far the best I've had in a video game. Remember that old shit where you had to hold R1 to play d or whatever?
Anyway, I am so fucking frustrated right now. I just played some huge douche online who was the Kings. The only reason he won was because Peja shot 16-23 from three point and had 59 points. I put up a bunch of points for 5 minute quarters, but this guy was just a huge douche. The Kings are gay in games because they can do fake shit like that, they are always super fake when it comes to three pointers.

Someone else sell me on ESPN.
How is the main camera angle? Is it horizontal or vertical like Live? Live's camera is so shitty. The players are all small and everything's cluttered.
How are the graphics too, compared to Live? Like gimme some details.

In comparison to the ESPN football graphics, basketballs aren't great, but they aren't bad at all. I don't have any problem with the camera, but I never really paid attention to what its like.

JUST GO GET IT NOW, GOD!!!
My season mode is badass. I made a trade (Eisly, Chabarkaba, Lampe) to the Bobcats for thier first round pick. It cleared up some cap room AND gives me a shot at having a top 3 draft pick since the Bobcats are horrible.
I hear 24/7 mode is awesome. Haven't tryed it yet though.
Music is better than Live. Rap isn't my "scene" but it's listenable. There is one rock song by Hazen Street. Also, you can edit arena music. Meaning, when you push the ball upcourt, you can edit what part of what song you want to play. Or at halftime or at the end of the game, you can select that music too.
Commentary hasn't really changed. They put Bill Walton back in and took out Tom Tolbert which pisses me off. I can not stand Walton. It gets repetitive, but all sports games do.
Graphics are good. At first I thought everything looked too rubbery. Like everyone was made out of rubber. But once the game started, it looked pretty real. All of the stadiums are accurate too. You definitly have a feeling of home court advantage.
All the retro jerseys are there from the start. Last year you had to unlock them.
I played online against some guy who used the Kings and the same thing happened to me. Peja shot 15 3ptrs. And I lost by 45 :|
Go get this game at Best But. $15. DO IT!

So does it have any special modes or anything?

24/7 as I previously stated.
Triple A
10-19-2004, 11:34 PM
Yeah I bought it. 19.99, not $15. And I sold Live to my boss for $35.

Whats you s/n?
Triple A
10-19-2004, 11:37 PM
I dunno I only played for like 10 mins before I had to go to work. Seemed real hot. Way better than Live.
Also, not gonna play online yet until I get good. I don't wanna make the same mistake with Madden and start off with a shitty record. Gonna do franchise mode first.
RoXer

I've played like one game online.
Started a 28 game season franchise. Went to the 5th seed in the finals with Suns. I'm currently in the Western finals with a shot at the #1 draft pick

What is the 24/7 mode? I haven't figured it out yet.
RoXer
10-20-2004, 12:14 AM
You create yourself or some you want to. Then go all over and build up your stats. Then you can play online with this character.
RoXer
10-20-2004, 12:15 AM
And if you don't play 24/7 mode withen like 3 weeks, then your stats go down.

Hey, my brother's getting pissed off because his team chemistry is ranked low and he's losing every game, all because during the season, his players come up and ask vague questions, and he always chooses the wrong answer. Anybody know what the "pattern" behind answering correctly to boost team chemistry?

WTF! Someone explain the FT shooting to me. :'(
BCWWF
10-29-2004, 05:22 AM
You use the analog sticks and move them so that the tips practically touch, making a circle in the middle...then you try to stop the ball in there. Also, you don't need to have them perfect, they can be a little wide and just as long as they are even and you stop the ball in, a good shooter will make them.
Peja is fake in the game though, my friend scored 20-30 three pointers with him.
