Shawn Michaels suffered a torn meniscus in the three-way match tonight in Chicago and needs surgery. It is not a definite at this point that he won't work tomorrow if he is voted in (and if he isn't, he theoretically should work the tag match), but at this point the odds are against him working.

Sucks for HBK, but maybe this could be Edge's big chance. Show me something Edge. Show me.

Well, I wasted my vote. God dammit!

I hope Edge get's it if HBK doesn't.

I think they should rig it, have Benoit win it. Then in the tag match have Edge turn on HBK and "injuring" him.

We can have like the 9 millionth HBK injury angle.

Damn, this sucks. Hopefully it is a work, though, and it wouldn't surprise me to see Benoit get the title shot, and have Edge have to fight the World Tag Team Champions alone. He can either win the World Tag Team Championship by himself, and then feud with HBK when he returns. He could win them by himself, and declare Christian his partner the next night on RAW. He could wrestle alongside Christian at Taboo Tuesday for the belts, winning. He could lose the tag match, then feud with HBK heading into Survivor Series, as Edge has been betrayed by everyone and everything, including himself.

I hope they change this bad situation into a good one, so HBK can have a good program set up for him when he's ready.

FUCK. man this hurts big time. I think they're better off going with a triple threat between HHH/Benoit/Edge. They can just say that there was a tie in the voting or something (even though HBK would clean house on the votes)

How'd you manage that?

I thought somethin looked wrong after that sunsetflip off the top rope. Man that really does suck. Well luckily I was gonna vote for Edgecrap to do the job cause I don't want Benoit jobbin to HHH.

Injured my ass!

The 'Has Been Kid' is faking it!
He doesn't want to face the fact that he doesn't break hearts anymore, and maybe there are other faces in the company who are more over than him.
Plus, who wants to see HHH v HBK........again?
Give Benoit the title shot (and the belt) and put Edge into the tag team match with Christian and reform E & C! That'd be cool!

At least then this PPV might be remembered.....

Looks like HBK pulled a HHH :shifty:

Anyway, I voted for Benoit... They're pretty much fucked if he gets the title shot and they go with it... With the tag match, if he can do it, he can work very little and lose... That's really not a big problem if he can atleast do simple things... (Sweet Chin Music out of the question I'd imagin...)

I dunno, he did SCM last night. Course now It would make no sense to do it.

Xero
10-19-2004, 10:12 AM
He did it only once I believe, and it was on Benoit who had Edge in the Sharpshooter... They were extremely low to the ground and all HBK had to do was extend his leg...

Still, he won't be able to wrestle a 10-20 minuite main event if this is true...

from: http://www.arthroscopy.com/sp05005.htm

The most commonly performed surgical procedures on the knee include a meniscectomy (removal of the meniscus), meniscal repair, and ligament reconstruction. The traditional method of surgery for a torn meniscus (cartilage) involves admission to a hospital for several days, one or more surgical incisions that may average several inches, several weeks on crutches, and up to several months to completely rehabilitate the knee. This is called an arthrotomy in medical terms.

The arthrotomy method of doing surgery has been gradually replaced by a procedure known as arthroscopy. This is still a surgical procedure, but with several differences. Arthroscopy involves inserting a fiberoptic telescope that is about the size of a pencil into the joint through an incision that is approximately 1/8 inch long. Fluid is then inserted into the joint to distend the joint and to allow for the visualization of the structures within that joint. Then, using miniature instruments which may be as small as 1/10 of an inch, the structures are examined and the surgery is performed.

This is usually done as an outpatient. On the average, most patients are able to walk without crutches within 48 hours. An active rehabilitation program is then initiated in an effort to rebuild the muscle strength in the muscles around the knee, thus relieving the stress on the knee. In most patients, an exercise program is started by the seventh post-operative day on Nautilus type equipment. Patients are usually on some type of activity restriction for approximately 6 weeks after surgery, or until rehabilitation has been successfully completed. Obviously these general guidelines must be individualized and may change during the recovery phase. Arthroscopy is much less traumatic to the muscles, ligaments and the tissues than the traditional method of opening the knee.

it doesn't look good.

unless you can take painkiller injections, then i'd say there is no chance he'll wrestle at taboo tuesday.
and he will be out for maybe a couple of months after that.

Still, better than an ACL. A lot of Australian footballers do their ACL, and that is about a year out

Whether you like Shawn Michaels or you don't, I really don't see what Shawn Michaels has to gain by feigning injury here. :-\

Yeah that really sucks for HBK. I'm still surprised he hasn't aggrivated his back ever since he came back. Seems like he's just injuring one body part after another.

What the hell? Edge betrayed himself? :wtf:

Just when he was getting the momentum to move into the WWE Championship division on SmackDown!, he went and injured himself. Edge's body let Edge down (well at least I can see Edge explaining it like that).

Rather you like Shawn or not (personally I like him) this is a huge blow to Raw. Not just this card, but the roster as a whole. Shawn who is a shell of what he was is still better than most the roster (not just Raw, Smackdown included). Hopefully the injury isn't as serious as being reported.

Gone Mad
10-19-2004, 06:27 PM
As I suspected during the Raw thread, Shawn is really injured. I voted for Benoit so it's no problem that HBK is injured. They can mention the injury to the crowd and say that Edge will have a new partner, and of course it would be Xtian (who could be made to be the one who "took out" HBK, who does not get a shot at the IC title and finds this loop hole to get a title).

The Cerebral Assassin

Having a triple threat main event is the best idea now.

I hope that they tilt the votes to create a tie between Edge and Benoit, so McMahon can come out and make it a triple threat match.

Corkscrewed

They'll need to set up ANOTHER career ending injury angle for Michaels. If Edge gets the shot... that would suck, though he could injure Michaels and set up a future feud. Or hell, he should do that anyway. In fact, if HBK wins the poll, Edge can get pissed off and attack HBK. That takes Shawn out, and Edge is then punished by being taken out and Benoit put in. Or if Benoit comes in second, he gets the shot.
