Universal has announced that they'll release an Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: Collector's Edition on 1/4/05. The 2-disc set will feature anamorphic widescreen video, Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 audio, audio commentary with director Michel Gondry and writer Charlie Kaufman, deleted scenes, 2 featurettes (A Look Inside Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and A Conversation with Jim Carrey and Director Michel Gondry), Polyphonic Spree's Light & Day music video and the Lacuna commercial. A commemorative photo book will also be included. There's no SRP set yet.

I could care less I don't give a shit about special features, I just watch the movie. There is one movie I want director commentary on and that's High Plains Drifter because I want to know what the fuck that movies supposed to mean, and I did watch it on Big Fish but that's it.

the only good commentaries on movies are ones on comedy movies.

I think its obvious by now that its not even worth buying the first release of the film. They have done it now with all the movies. It comes out on DVD and everyone gets it. Then they announce a new special edition directors cut of it a few weeks later. Now im interested in looking to see what was taken out of the film and everything but you know the deleted scenes were taken out of for a reason. Because they sucked and didnt go with the story line. They were taken out because they didnt work. So how is watching the scenes alone gonna make them work for me. I say just buy the original release and then hope some where down the line that you see the new special edition in the $10 or less rack.

Those special features are already on the regular edition.

Someone on DVD Times has speculated that the 2nd disk will just be the soundtrack, which would kinda make sense as there's not much they can add to the existing release.
