View Full Version : Poll! JBL V. Booker in main event

Mr. JL

Should John Bradshaw Layfield V. Booker T for the WWE Championship be the main event for Survivor Series?

If Booker gets the 'nod' should this match be the main event? He would become the first ever black WWE Champion by my count. The fans have popped huge for him the past two weeks of his face turn. However, if the match sucks and the fans are pissed off it could very much hurt Booker's reign as Champion ...but even if this match is NOT in the main event and sucks Booker's reign will be lacking non the less.

I believe that if the WWE wants Booker to look BIG then I would put his match in the main event. Fans will go, WHOA shit he's in the main event. FUCKING KICK ASS.

My gut feelings are that the fans will POP like crazy (simular to Eddie's and Benoit's title victories) if Booker takes home the belt.

Thoughts? ... Votes?

....wait for Poll

looks as if EVolution is going to be in a Survivor Series match. so the World Heavyweight title will not be defended

That cracker is white in comparison to Booker

Mr. Nerfect

But in terms of race...:-\

The Rock's actually Samoan isn't he? It doesn't really matter, however. I think Booker & JBL should get the main event slot. JBL will probably win, or get disqualifyed. I would love to see Booker T win the title, however. I'm hoping for a 6-Man Hell in a Cell or an Elimination Chamber at Armageddon. JBL vs. Booker T vs. The Big Show vs. Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle vs. The Undertaker.

Mr. JL

That would be alright but Guerrero, Angle & Show are in the classic survivor series match and Taker is facing Little Johnny so we have to face reality.... I bet RVD is the first one eliminated in the classic survivor series match because that is a reality I have come to expect.

Yeah I think this should happen, but only if Booker wins, I don't want the 5-Time WcW champion to job to a Richboy Nazi! Booker is getting old now, and will probably retire within the next few years, so they should give him at least one championship run, he sure as hell deserves one!
Also, would this be Booker T's first main event since coming to the WWE?

Mr. JL
10-29-2004, 08:25 PM

He was in the main event for...

1. Invasion '01 - Inaugural Brawl
2. Summer Slam '01 - WCW Championship - Booker T V. The Rock
3. Survivor Series '01 - Winner Takes All Match (if this counts)
4. Survivor Series '02 - Elimination Chamber Match (again, if this counts)

Only one... one on one main event for Booker thus far in the WWE.

I still say I don't wanna see Booker in the match. Let alone as the main attraction main event for Survivor Series. I mean this is one of the big 4.

Booker T should have won at WM 18. Therefore, there is no reason he shouldn't main event now.

Also, the Rock is half black, half samoan.

It should be the main event, since it is for the WWE Championship and since SD is doing much better numbers than RAW lately.

But if they go with War Games, I'm almost certain that would be the main event.

Hey what do you know, Hunter will be in that match. Well I'll be damned!

Definately. It woul almost be like having the Royal Rumble before the WWE Championship match. I think if they book JBL vs. Booker T to be a major match, and have the commentators put it over as a more traditional form of competition and really use the hitory of the WWE Championship to build this up (especially with the DVD on its way out), I think this match could be lively.

If the WWE puts both guys on even ground, and makes sure they keep the match hyped throughout the night (so the fans don't forget about it, even during the War Games), I can see the respective main events being almost evenly distributed amonst the fans as far as reactions go. If Booker & JBL put in 110% effort, and work a 30+ minute passion filled match, I think we could see a **** match (I believe JBL is better than a lot of people give him credit for).

Thats one thing I hate about the way the WWE handles SD. If you listen to how JR puts over the HHH Title on RAW, he talks about the "history" it has and emphasizes that its "THE" world championship. SD's big selling point should be that they have the linear and quote unquote "real" World title. Its the title that you can date back both from WWE and WCW. But because SD is not the HHH show, they dont say that. Or I assume thats the reason anyway.

Yeah, I've always assumed that the WWE Championship on SmackDown! is actually the Undisputed Championship that Chris Jericho started at Vengeance 2001 by winning both the World Championship (WCW Championship) and (the then) WWF Championship. I've always considered it to be WWF Championship+WCW Championship= Undisputed Championship/WWE Championship. I don't know why, but I never considered the titles to be unifyed. I just pictured them defended, retained and lost together. Almost as if they were one championship.

I think the WWE should use this somehow, and have Booker T claims he wants to become a six-time WCW Champion, and a first-time WWE Champion. I can even see Booker T bringing back the WCW Championship to represent his heavyweight championship reign.

If the WWE took this route, it would make the heavyweight title scene on RAW look almost completely different. On SmackDown!, they have the spirits of the past surrounding the championship and its travels, while on RAW, you have guys like Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit, Y2J, Kane, Maven, Batista, Randy Orton, Ric Flair, etc. trying to establish a new championship, that can take the heat of the "Ultimate Championship" on SmackDown! away from it. It would almost make RAW look like the underdog show, which I can see working for it, sinc eit has the recognizable live timeslot.

I dont think BT is winning the title. Not that I put much stock into what house shows say, but I just dont see it happening. I think they are just using this program as another notch on JBL's belt until he drops the title to Show at the Dec PPV. Then I figure Show drops to Angle in January at the Rumble.

I think you're right. Booker T just doesn't have that luck on his side. I can see Booker picknig up a DQ win over JBL, but I think ultimately The Big Show will be taking the title off him. I'm still hoping for a JBL vs. Booker T vs. The Big Show vs. Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero vs. The Undertakerr 6-Man Hell in a Cell at Armageddon.

If they go with War Games, then it should go last, because nobody should have to try to follow that. Legions of WCW fans will blow one of the biggest collective loads in wrestling history to see something like that come back, and it'll take so long to clean up after that it would cause the time between matches to drag out.

I don't think Booker should be in the title hunt, I don't think he's a great worker. And I don't particularly like his Character, plus all the jobbing around with Golddust didn't do his credibility much good either.

The Title needs to be on Show, Angle, Or Eddie. With Eddie out of the picture for the time being. I think Angle and Show need to get some sort of a feud built up heading into a 6 man HIAC the December PPV.

JBL vs Show vs Angle vs Taker vs Cena vs Heidenreich.

Show takes the victory, drops the title to Angle at the Rumble, Cena wins the rumble.

Angle vs Cena at Wrestlemania 21

I don't think it will be the main event as I see a Raw Main Event with Evolution and the the other guys.

I do agree that Booker should get the title. He should have had it at WM 18.

To answer the question as to why we think he is great in the ring. Well for me it is because he is good in the ring, can work a crowd and is very decent on the mic.

I'll throw my short and sweet two cents in here.

I dont' think BT is World Champion material. I don't like him in the ring all that much (mind you he's not bad in the ring, just doesn't keep me interested) and he's not that good on the mic, and finally, what is his gimmick? Does he have one? Is his gimmick just a nice black guy?

Two Rings, One Giant Cage

2 teams of 4

2 guys start off

Coin Toss decides which team gets to send a member in next after like 2 minutes or something close to that.

Team's then alternate in sending in thier members

When ALL 8 guys are in the ring, the match begins

First guy to get pinned or submit, his team loses

Thanks. I wouldn't mind seeing a modifyed version of this match. Maybe have 10 or so guys, then have it randomly decided who enters. Before all participants have entered the ring, pinfall and submission only eliminates the receiving wrestlers. When every wrestler has entered the cage, it's one fall to a finish.

Or you can just make it 5 on 5 with an elimination rule, with wrestlers entering every 5 minutes.

From memory War Games matches are fairly good, so it might just be best to leave the original idea. I hope they don't change the name to "RAW Games" either.

As for World War III, I wouldn't mind seeing RAW bring one out half-way through the year. Maybe on an edition of RAW. Last year, after a SmackDown! superstar won the Rumble, but then jumped ship to RAW, a 20-Man Royal Rumble was held for the shot at No Way Out. Maybe RAW could hold a World War III match for their title shot at WrestleMania?

Yeah. Probably either one for each brand (30 from each), with the winners facing off to decide who is getting the main event title shot at WrestleMania. I could even see three rings (one red, one blue and one normal) with the Battle Royals taking place in the red ring for RAW, and the blue ring for SmackDown!, with the two competitors, entering the normal ring (which is unused for the night) and either have a normal match, or continue the Rumble rules.

Then again you could have a three rings with 20 men in each and the first person to win their Rumble gets a shot in the main event, while the second winner gets a title shot in the semi-main event, while the last guy to win doesn't get a title shot, but gets another match of his choosing. Or they just go through to have one winner, while the other two are "runners-up".

Mr. Nerfect
11-03-2004, 05:51 PM
Now that we have two classic Survivor Series matches, I think the WWE Championship should take priority, regardless to what carries on the RAW main event, unless it is a War Games, it should declared on level with the SmackDown! event (which will take a backseat to the WWE Championship match).
