Overall I think they're pretty solid. Couple people got robbed; Mark Kotsay (best center fielder in baseball), Tejada. Only one they fucked up big time is Jeter. LOL WTF. 2 Mariners though

NL coming tomorrow I think

Ya Christian Guzman should have won instead of Jeter

Surprised by Jeter and Vernon

Vernon is a top center fielder but its so competitive that you'd think missing 30 games would hurt him too much

WTF why did Jeter win. Probably because that one play where he dove into the stands. Everyone is hard on that movie.

Did I just see Cristian Guzman?

Last year I said that Koskie should have got it and Pierzynski should have been considered. Torii is the only Twin to deserve it this year, and is the only one who got it. I am sure Koskie was #2 in third basemen, I thought he should be #1 last year because Chavez missed a lot of the season.

Orlando Hudson should have won at 2B. I know most of you don't know him or think I'm being 'homerish' but he's a better defensive 2B than Boone. Don't get me wrong, Boone is good, but not as good as Orlando.

Wells, good yeah, but I dunno.

YOU'RE SUCH A DICK YOUR HERO. JUST BECAUSE HE IS FROM YOUR HOME TOWN DOESN'T MEAN HE IS GOOD AT HITTING

I am just saying this because clearly offensive numbers and popularity are a large part of these choices. Doug Mientkiewicz should have won last year, but Oelrud was a better hitter, yada yada yada. It sucks, I know, but what can you do.

I'm just curious as to why Jeter?

I agree Your Hero. Hudson should have won.

I think Mientkiewicz would have edged Erstad had he played every day down the stretch

I think a lot of voters were impressed that a former gold glove center fielder made 1 error all eyar at first base (which i remember clearly, and wasnt his fault)

If Cabberia played for the Red Sox for the entire season I bet he would have won it.

Still lol@Jeter winning it for that one catch when he fell into the stands. I know he is pretty solid defensively..but Gold Glove? I dunno, He probably isn't even the best fielding shortstop on his own team

No complaints anywhere for me, I think they nailed these. I probably would've had Beltran instead of Finley, but switching leagues midseason probably hurt his chances.

I agree Beltran should have won instead of Finley

Other than that, good choices for NL :y:

I'd say Jeter is better defensively than A-Rod. And that catch was one of the best defensive plays I've ever seen

Jesus Shuttlesworth

That catch was so over hyped though, I mean I give him credit for that dive into the stands but I don't know

One of the best defensive plays you've ever seen? You must not have seen a lot of defensive plays

John la Rock
11-03-2004, 08:10 PM
lol Have you ever played baseball? Try playing SS and ranging over to get a ball like Jeter did. It's not an easy play whatsoever

The Miz
11-03-2004, 08:14 PM
It wasn't an easy play, it wasn't one of the best defensive plays ever either

Bascially what I am saying here

I know it wasn't an easy play, but saying its one of the best defensive plays you've ever seen is pretty ridiculous. Only reason that play is still shown all the time is because he went into the stands.

I think the point here is you shouldn't win a gold glove by performing one over-the-top play like Jeter made.

BCWWF
11-03-2004, 10:58 PM
I agree with Miz and Stima. It was a good play and took a lot of balls, but it did seem overhyped to me too.

The Outlaw

If that's the best defensive play you've seen, go pick up an Ozzie Smith video and be prepared to piss your pants.

Thank you Outlaw, it needed to be said

That play Jeter made was awesome, yes, but it wasn't near the best play of the season let alone ever.

So he fell over into the stands... I know i'm going to sound like a total homer, but JT Snow makes plays like that like twice a month. It's not a unique thing, but because it's a Yankees player, because it's the pretty-boy Jeter, it's going to be hyped like it's the best play of all time. BAH

LoDuca made a WAY better catch a couple years back...the one where he fell into the dugout chasing a foul ball.
