The Minnesota Wilds Sergei Zholtok unfortunately passed away today. He had some sort of heart defect. Arythmia or however it is spelt. I read it first of Hockeysfuture but then got it confirmed on TSN. Sucks too..he was just 31. I just remember really liking him as a Hab. He was a pretty good role player.
Anyways, just thought maybe some of you guys who may know of him or like him, or just are interested in all things dealing in some way with hockey would care to know.
RIP Sergei.

Sergei Zholtok, dead at 31

TSN.ca Staff

11/3/2004

Sergei Zholtok, a centre who finished the 2003-2004 NHL season with the Nashville Predators, died Wednesday in Latvia. He was 31.

A third-round pick of the Boston Bruins in 1992, Zholtok played 588 NHL games for six teams, scoring 111 goals and 258 points.

Zholtok was playing for Riga in Latvia this year and Zholtok excused himself from a game in Belarus with five minutes left and collapsed and died on the way to the room.

Zholtok was forced to the sidelines a couple of times last year with mysterious health ailments that included dizziness and fatigue. RDS is reporting that he suffered from cardiac arrhythmia.

Zholtok had his greatest success with the Minnesota Wild, scoring a career-high 42 points in 2002-2003, then following up with 13 points in 18 playoff games as the Wild made an improbable run to the Western Conference Finals..

He also played for Ottawa, Montreal and Edmonton in the NHL.

WTF, that is so out of the blue? Zholtok was the man, he was a stud in Minnesota. I was going to buy his jersey last year. Thats so random, I didn't even know there was anything. Thanks for the memories man, rest in peace.

I don't know a whole lot about him really... he was really good on Minnesota's PP unit in 2002-2003, if I remember. I dunno, it sucks real bad to hear about anyone dying so young. RIP.

It's a shame for anyone to die at a young age like that.

The same thing is happening with footballers, someone has to figure out what the fuck is up with all these heart-related deaths in sport.

R.I.P Sergei. :(

He varied between the first and second line on the Wild I think. Last year he played with Gaborik and Dupuis I think, so he was one of the better guys.

My mistake too..I totally forgot he was with the Preds currently. Ah well doesnt matter. But yeah, to die that young is a shame. Especially when you have a family. Not sure that he does, but it's tough..anyways it sucks.

Shit thats right he was traded to the Preditors. A bunch of Wild players were. Its been so long since I noticed hockey I am forgetting things. If I am not mistaken though, the Wild was looking to bring him back this year because he was a free agent.

Damn shame. It seems like a player dies every year. It seems like death can happen to anybody at anytime.

R.I.P

At least he died doing something he enjoyed.
