Ok, Naitch did a poll on the WWE Championship and The World Heavyweight. So, I thought I'd do one about two titles that are often considered equal. So, which title do you see as more worthy?
I would have to say the U.S Title. Although the Intercontinental title has had some great holders I.E Rock, Orton, Bret Hart, Mr Perfect, Honky Tonk Man, Chris Jericho etc etc. It has also had some holders that.... well, wouldn't have held the US Title. So my vote goes to the United States Championship.
BTW: When I say the US title, I mean the WWE US title, not the WcW one. I believe the first holder of the U.S Title was Eddie Guererro, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Nope, these are both equal in my eyes. They're both the midcard Titles for two completely different companies. Even now, I see them as both equal.

These belts make me sad. They both used to mean so much back when the WWE still had an F and when WCW still had....itself. Now, they've been reduced to World and WWE title anal drippings.
However, if I just had to choose between the title in their current states, I'd give the nod to the Intercontinental title. Just because I like Raw better than SmackDOWN!, though.

I happen to like the IC title better.

OK, Naitch made a thread like this about two equally seen belts - being the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship. So I'm asking what you see as a more important title?
I'd have to say the U.S Title, as although there have been some great IC title holders in its time - i.e Rock, HBK, Bret Hart, Orton, Y2J, Honky Tonk Man, Curt Hennig etc etc. There have also been some IC title holders who, well....wouldn't have held the US championship. So my vote goes to the U.S Title.
BTW: When I say US title, I mean the WWE US title, not the WcW one. So the first US title was Eddie Guererro, I think?

IC. It's looking like IC belt might be getting some prestige back. You never know though.
We are all forgetting that Tajiri was the US champ. Then again, that was back when the WWE had like 35y892389328932589 belts. With a y. I do love Tajiri though.

no contest
IC by a mile
I value the IC title almost as high as the world titles.
IC belt. At one point I rated this higher than the WWE title.

IC belt holds so much more than the U.S. title.
IC belt is the stuff

Intercontinental for me. It soudns bigger. :shifty:
But yeah, whenever I think of the IC Title's history I think of gold. The US Title makes me think silver.
BTW, doesn anyone else think the WWE should bring back a title history page?
One or two months ago, I would say the US title. Lately it's been kinda crappy though. The IC title hasn't had as much credibility since Orton lost it. It's been passed around too much, and they haven't done much in either scene lately. Fuck it, I voted US title :-\
So if you're using the WWE IC title with its histroy from now til 1981 against the WWE US title which was created last year, I'm gonna have to go with the IC belt without a doubt; though today they are pretty much the same title on both shows.

No, I mean in the state they are in now.
Like what LC said in Naitch's thread, if they were both made a year ago; at the same time, then what would you have voted?

When Orton was IC champ I would have said the IC title by a mile. But since then its back to being tossed back and forth, and doesn't mean much. Hopefully they keep it on Shelton for some time.
The US title hasn't meant as much, although the Cena-BT made it seem at least somewhat important. Now Carlito is in a similar situation to Shelton, he can have a big impact with the belt, but who knows?
So I'd go with the IC overall.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok.
In your first post you mentioned people who held the IC title back in the eighties and nineties; so I figured you were taking the whole history of the title into consideration (which is actually merged with HHH's RAW title, but that's a different argument altogether).
I still go with IC though. Mainly because the US title has changed hands so many times.

Both are in the dumps a bit.
US title will hopefully get going again once CCC has been around for a bit
whilst the IC title is still recovering from Edge having to drop it. I think that effected the title because:
1. It ended a great reign by Randy Orton
2. Edge was not cvery over at the time
3. When Edge dropped it, for some reason, it was christian VS Jericho for the title. Why not have a tournament to decide who will meet for it at Unforgiven?

IC by far
It doesn't help that the US Belt looks like a toy a 5 year old made.

As if you put the Honky Tonk Man in the same class as Rock, Orton, Hart, Perfect & Jericho!

After the way they TRASHED the US title by giving it to a first-day-on-the-job wannabe Jamaican white boy, the US title has no doubt lost a lot of significance not to mention respect of the fans, therefore the I.C. title is MUCH more prized right now until they fix the US title situation, if they can ever re-salvage the belt's tarnished history to something respectable...they need to seriously consider an RVD/Carlito feud as soon post-survivor series as possible and make Carlito drop the belt to RVD. RVD deserves a push past his previous roles as IC, and World Tag Champ on SD! to where he was on RAW, which on SD! would be the US level...then after about a year to a year and a half give RVD the BIG title push...that would be the PROPER way to utilize RVD's true talents and abilities to the max! :y: "R..." :y: "V..." :y: "D...!"

Just a quick question, does everyone here count the US Title as a new belt, or the same one from WCW fame? I used ot consider it its own title, but since Booker T came out and started telling us how he is a 2-time US Champion it sort of changed my mind.

I consider the U.S Title its own belt, not the same U.S title that was used in WcW. Like I said in the opening post - Eddie Guererro was the first ever U.S Champ ;).

Oh OK. Is there any confirmation either way, though? I agree with you, but I really think the WWE should get an official title webpage, or release a DVD about their titles or something.

There's no confirmation either way I don't think, whenever I look up the WWE U.S Title history it takes me right back to the WcW days. Yeah a web-page should DEFINITELY be done, it's one of the neccesaries to have on a wrestling website. As for the DVD idea, that sounds really cool, and probably will be done. It would be interesting to see the history of all the titles as well. Including titles that aren't active anymore - like the European Title and the Hardcore Title. :y:
