If you didn't beat Halo 2, you know the deal. Then again you shouldn't have opened this thread. I'm gonna talk about spoilers and such so you were warned. (>Next Post)

Oh lord why did Bungie do this to me. The final quarter of the game built up a situation so intense I was literally preparing myself for MC's trip back to Earth. And then boom. Bungie hits me with what seems to be a fad in entertainment. Granted it was still a nice long game and even Halo 1 didn't have a real end boss either, but damn if I have to wait another 3 years to see the final conflict.
The Arbitor angle is a nice twist that wasn't forced like a certain Metal Gear Solid character, and it made the story a very interesting narrative. The drama within the Covenant was never really an issue for me, but I like how it played out. I also like how events in Halo 1 was told in their way, as they believe the humans released the Flood. It leaves plenty room for player inturpretation.
That plant monster 'Flood-God' creature is the best addition to the story. And it adds a damn good arc that really grabbed me. So with all this; here's my take on Halo's tale so far...
Eons ago there was the Forerunner race that were good at building things. Most likely of their own need to expand and create, they stumbled apon the Flood. The story gives you clues that the Forerunners contained and studied the Flood for a time, and learned they were a parasitic organism that spreaded by sentient being. The Forerunners, in an absurd yet military way of thought, produced Halos that doubled as cages and galactic bombs. If the Flood would escape, they would activate one Halo, that would also initiate others in the universe, to destroy all possible Flood victoms. The Flood did something, because the Forerunners set the Halos off, destroying themselves (also a nice take on the Big Bang Theory). All that's left of the Forerunners were the Halos and their care takers, 343 Guilty Spark and others like him on other Halos.
The Humans meet the Covenant, a united race of aliens hellbent on finding Earth, NOT killing humans. Why? Because in their religon they believe the Halos are a means to get to a sort of Heaven, A Great Journey the Prophets call it. It'll get 'em to Heaven all right, but not like they want to. Earth is tied to the Halos activation, a fail safe switch located in Africa's region. They learned this after capturing Guilty Spark, shortly after he escaped the Alpha Halo's destruction. Some Elites learned of Halo's true nature and spoke against it; but labeled Heretics and banished by pain of death. This is where the Arbitor comes in, a religious zealot who fights for faith and what he probably grew up hearing; not unlike Master Chief who was raised since 6 to be a soldier.
Halo 3 on XBox 2 will do me much good. Hopefully Bungie is already drawing on napkins.

Please tell me that you don't fight the Flood in Halo 2...do you?
You do. Like the second level too. Ridiculous. You would have thought, in 3 years they would have come up with a plot, other then the one they did in Halo.

Damn...I've been completely turned off by Halo 2 in 3 days time. First I heard it was short, and now the return of The Flood. They weren't even difficult, just annoying. BTW Does it give an impression like the humans and covenant will team up in some way down the line?

As a Star Wars fan, long waits aren't new to me.
I liked the story, but the gameplay got repetitive.
Guess Halo 3 is a go for XB2.

Ive had this damn game reserved for 2 years now and a week before it comes out my brother broke my xbox. Ive still yet to get my hands on a working xbox. And untill I get one I refuse to go pick up my game from Gamestop.
I heard this game was really short and that was the only thing I had to worry about it. Halo was great but it was short and I was able to beat it with in a few hours. I hope this one atleast takes me a few days to do it. I will try not to sit down and play it from like 7am to 10pm
You probably don't have it reserved anymore then. They only keep preorders for a certain number of days.

I've been dabbling with the Legendary difficulty and I must warn you all, it isn't easy. Infact; it'll tell you how bad a Halo player you really are. On many occasions you will move only a few houndred yards in a level an HOUR. Think I'm joking? Try it. To be honest, though I have the option to play whatever level on Legendary since I beat the game, I've yet to beat a single one on that difficulty. All that runnin and gunnin got to go, start thinking Rainbow 6.

Is it the white duel wielding Elite at the boarding site? I hate him.
