What the hell was up with the match he had against Coach. It served less purpose than the pillow fight did. Orton goes from winning SS to basicly curtain jerking Raw against a non-wrestler, what the hell. Granted, I hate Orton, but where is the logic in this?

The puspose is they want the Coach to be the Number #2 heel on the roster? Fuck, he's been given a bigger push than half the guys on the roster and he's a fucking announcer.

Maybe they want us to forget he won, just like they apparently want us to forget the aftermath of the flair/orton match at taboo tuesday, hurricane's heel turn, and the fact that Ultimo dragon is a good wrestler.

I agree, it was kind of pointless. Should've had him maybe fight Snitsky or Batista instead.

I wonder how you get to be a writer on Raw or Smackdown.

Comments: Now I've been watching WWE(F) for like 8 or 9 years now. And I have enjoyed most of it, but what was up with the de-pushing of Randy Orton. I know he sucks, but how can you explain him winning Survior Series one night, and then the next night having a match against some jackass announcer? Also, what is up with not adding Maven to Evolution? What is the point? Have you all acctaully watched you product lately? A brain dead monkey could write better than that. What does it take to get a position on your writing staff?

Seriously, that Coach segment had NOTHING to do with current storylines. They could have had Randy in a tag match, or in a singles match, or in a promo. Hell, they could have left him only as part of the main event run ins. But noooooOOOOooo, they had to degrade him by putting him in a match with that douche.

I beleive there was a contest a while back, where in collecting enough Nabisco snack points, you get to write for WWE.

I guess they were trying to get over Orton by beating up on someone who is somewhat hated. But, I thought the whole thing was kind of lame. I would have rather seen him just come out and save JR and beat the crap out of Coach instead of making an actual "match".

The whole thing was about as thrilling as an even shorter match would be between "Good Ol' J.R." & Snitsky. :nono:

I think the JR trip was hilarious, and all three guys showed a lot of character in this. BTW, I love the way Randy raises his imaginary goblet to himself as he recovers from the intensity that overomes him during the match. He basically goes wild babyface, then he slows down to "in-character" Orton and he gets ready to hit it.
I think they need to give him actual character developement sometime soon. Like maybe have had Triple H ask Maven if Orton is really happy now he's been kicked out of Evolution. Maybe make references how he would go home with women, get plasma TVs, expensive furniture, have someone watching his back and all that jazz, but now he's got nothing. I think it would have been interesting to see Triple H maybe imply Randy Orton goes home and drinks himself under the table. Then after that Maven/Randy Orton promo, Maven could ask Randy Orton is he really "happy" now he's got noone but himself, and if he's really "better off" now he doesn't have Evolution paying his bills, or souping up his lifestyle? Then when Maven leaves Orton can have one of those sympathetic in-thought looks on his face while staring at the ground. If Orton's really talented, maybe he could even appear to be close to tears?

I agree! Why should we care about someone we know virtually nothing about? All we know is he's 24, his dad was a (debatable)legend, he is hungry to make a name for himself, and he used to be in Evolution. Definitely some character development needed. Don't really know where they can go from here though. Maybe once the Triple H feud is done with, a feud with a heel Benoit would work? If Orton pulled off a clean victory against a very agressive and angry Benoit it would make him look great.

Are you insinuating that the writers who have such a lack of intelligence to not be able to combat the world's crappiest reality shows actually put something as good as character development into the show? Come on. It took them an entire week to think up how to fill that extra minute with the pillow fight.

Speaking of pillow fights, I watched Wrestlemania XIX last night, god that Miller Lite Catfight Girls segment was a complete waste of time... :nono:

interesting points regarding character developments. I mean, almost everyone in the WWE has a character, like:
Jericho - King of the world
Christian - cocky, arrogant, funny, charismatic
Trish - bitch
Snitsky - Deranged
but Orton...wtf is up with Orton?
i guess he's like the rock, except he doesnt wear sunglasses and isnt in the movies...so essentially, Orton has no real character.
maybe thats why he sucks :shifty:
btw, it pains me to say i dislike orton, but i do. i mean, after backlash, i was like "all the way with RKO", but since then, its been very :-\

Yes, he takes a stature where he is toasting the legends he has killed, as he makes the motion for his opponent to rise. That is the type of thing that makes Orton great. A getting up gesture is what Shawn Michaels does when he is setting up for the Sweet Chin Music and he has his arm flapping up and down frantically.

Orton is a cocky bastard who doesn't need help in the sense that he is talented enough, but he needs it for bragging rights, and for the encoragement that comes with having allies. He's seen what guys who stand by themselves get. Mick Foley had only The Rock to help him. 3 on 2 at WrestleMania, and they fell. After that, Orton picked up the scraps and retained his IC Title, which he held for the longest time in the last seven years.
Without Evolution, from the outside Randy should appear unscathed, but there could be little hints dropped that he's depressed and that he wished he never won that World Heavyweight Championship. Orton should be trying every trick in the book to make Ric Flair & Batista lose faith in Triple H, so he can take the role as Evolution's figurehead.
That's just my opinion, but Orton is a guy who shouldn't be just "one of the other faces". That's what his whole heel character was essentially based upon. Come his night to run RAW, I hope we see Orton upstage all the other GMs, and actually book some good matches that could rshake the foundations of RAW. Maybe even some trades? Maybe a few matches on Heat? I dunno, but I hope they let us see into the passion (or lack of it) filled Orton, and I hope it sets him apart from the others on the roster.
