Okay, I realize that the reason WWE can't use 'commercial' music on their DVD's is because they'll have to pay a shitload of royalties to whoever owns them, however there are some inconsistencies in their DVD's when it comes to what songs they have/haven't used. For instance:

On the Benoit DVD in his match against Booker T from GAB98, they did not use Booker T's usual Harlem Heat entrance theme. However in the Guerrero DVD in Chavo Jr's match against Stevie Ray, Stevie came out to the theme. Also, Chavo comes out to some weird song instead of the "Viva La Razzza" song which I thought WWE now owned.

In the new ECW DVD, in the extra match with Taz against Bam Bam Bigelow from Living Dangerously 98, Taz comes out to his WWE entrance theme. However in the easter egg featuring a promo fpr their match, Taz's ECW entrance theme (KISS "War Machine" instrumental) plays in the background. Also, in the Dreamer vs Raven Wrestlepalooza 97 match when Taz comes out at the end, they play some new weird theme instead of his ECW or WWE theme.

That's all I got for now. I guess maybe those were overlooked by WWE's DVD crew (though I doubt it). BTW, the way they change the music in the ECW DVD really takes a lot away from it IMO. The fact that ECW was using "real" music was one of the things that made them seem "cooler" than WWF and WCW, IMO. Does anyone know if they do the same thing to the ECW DVD's released by Pioneer?

The Booker T thing may have been around the time he was feuding with Stevie Ray and lost the rights to Harlem Heat, meaning he couldn't use the music

ECW didn't own the rights to their music unless it was produced by Harry Slash so they broke the laws originally. It would have cost WWE millions to get the rights to that music.

Can't explain the WCW stuff though since they should own all that.

What about the games, did they use the "stolen" music?

As far as I could tell, on ECW Anarchy Rulz, the only real themes were Paul Heyman's "Extreme" theme and Pantara's Walk in as RVD's theme.

Do the ECW DVD's released by Pioneer include wrestlers' entrance themes that were made by popular musicians?
