I'd appreciate help on this:

1. When Hogan leg dropped Sting and got the pinfall, was this supposed to happen? I've always wondered if they panicked and sent Bret out there ect., because maybe Sting missed a cue or something and didn't kick out... I dunno

2. Does anyone know a place where I can get old WCW tapes from 1997 *namely Starrcade and some of the Nitros (especially that one where there was like a hundred Stings that showed up and the nWo was taking them all out until Buff Bagwell punched the real one and then got a SDD, oh the memories)? This has always bothered me because I remember that when I was little and I (my parents) ordered Starrcade '97 I pratically worshipped Sting and waited like a year to see him fight Hogan and then after it was over I noticed that my VCR was on SP and not SLP so I only got the 1st two hours :( I cried all night. That still bothers me to this day.

1 - There was a fu</>ck up. Basically it was meant to be a two count but Hogan botched it and the ref counted three making Sting look like a chump. Bret was always coming out for the finish to count the final fall.

2 - Some people have them but you'll struggle to get them on release tapes. Best bet is to ask around message boards or go to Sledgehammer or NoDQ and request that someone posts matches you are looking for.

What did Hogan do to botch it? I thought they were just taking the piss out of Bret being screwed or something. I might watch it again.

I believe the way it was supposed to go was that Hogan was only supposed to get a two (like Rob said), and Bret was going to come out, back and forth with Sting & nWo, bing bang boom, and Bret makes the call of Sting over Hogan.

I may be foggy on that, as I don't really recall 100%, but I think I'm right / close.

Also, you may want to try tape boards at: www.KayfabeMemories.com or www.ITSCWrestling.com - both have quite a large group of people who trade. As far as KayfabeMemories goes, I think you're allowed to ask for tapes like that on their board, but the other boards can only talk about Kayfabe-Era related things.

Actually, what I've read from repeated sources on the Sting versus Hogan thing at Starrcade '97 was that Hogan was indeed supposed to have pinned Sting leading to a Bret Hart involvement, just like that...BUT...

it was supposed to be a fast count, and Nick Patrick didn't count much faster than a normal three count, thereby making Sting look weak.

Yeah, that's what it looked like to me when Bret says it was a fast count, it doesn't look fast at all.

Thank you, I knew it was something like that.

Best WCW momment is when Sting steals DDP and then powers him up into the rafters.

DDP mighta been hoisted up a time or two as well. I don't think Mach was the only man to ever get a ride to the rafters courtesy of Sting at any rate.

No Sting also took DDP at least once, I have a clip of it, here is the link. It is very grainy but the announcers say it is DDP.

And for those wanting a nice Sting memory here we go, Sting in the rafters with the bird on his arm and that freaky child voiceover being said about him.

I'd really want an mp3 of the theme song for Starrcade '97. It was nifty.
