here is my interpretation of it. if you haven't seen it I guess I should warn you that this contains "spoilers."

only gonna talk about the last like 30 minutes really.

I feel like when he is traveling to Jupiter in the pod, when he is traveling through all of the lights, he is seeing the future of Earth. the colors are in complete disarray and make no sense while he is traveling through them. but later on when he reachers Jupiter, the monolith projects those colors onto earth. so kind of confusing but those colors really mean something. they are what is happening on earth, they just haven't "occurred" yet.

when he reaches Jupiter he finds himself in a room. you see the him eating dinner, and then him old man lying in bed. to me, it seems like he is in the future of earth, and he is aging very fast. while he is lying in bed, he sees the monolith. by pointing to it, he is really saying "recreate me." the monolith responds and turns him into the baby in the bubble. then he comes back down to earth as the baby.

so I guess it means that life is just a big circle, really.
