View Full Version : Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Scary?

Okay, so I watched the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the first time a couple days ago to see what all the fuss is about. I'll admit that there were a few disturbing parts, but I honestly don't see why everyone raves over it being the scariest movie of all time. I actually think House of 1000 Corpses is both scarier and more entertaining as a whole.

So, maybe I just have a bad interpretation of the film, or maybe TCM is just a bunch of hype from its cult followers. Thoughts?

Had you watched it when it originally came out, you'd think differently.

Same for me with Amittyville Horror. To this day, I cannot watch that show without being creeped out. Due to seeing it when I was like 12 and it was just released.

Yup. I remember I asked for my own room and finally got it. Then I watched this and wished I hadn't gotten my room. Nightmares and sh</>it for a month straight.

Yea, I didn't like the original TCM.

I also have to agree with everybody else, IT scared the hell out of me when I was young.

Yeah that was on the other day. But when I was younger it scared the sh** out of me. The part when the girl goes into her house and sees blood in the sink and the old lady starts chasing her really fricken scared me. THEY ALL FLOAT DOWN HERE

For some reason it was Pet Cemetary for me. It took me almost 10 years to watch it again, I did so when I was 17 and it wasn't really even scary.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre sucked dick. It was such a shitty, awful movie and I was really disappointed too.

The thing is that it has been copied so many times by now, with the killing off teens one by one storyline, that it's just like the same old crap.

The book version of IT beats the shit out of the film completely, much like any Stephen King book really.

TCM is sweet. The remake blew.

I didn't really like it at all.

But that old guy who seemed to be dead freaked me out a bit.

Excluding Wrong Turn, House of 1000 Corpses was about the worst horror movie I have ever seen. So I'm just gonna have to go with, you're a dumbass and have no idea what you're talking about :y: .

Thanks.

IT scared the shit out of me when I was younger, but watching it now, I just laugh because the guy who plays the clown has been in so many bad movies that he's not scary anymore.

And the big spider at the end kills it.

I thought it was boring as hell.

And the guy in the wheel chair pissed me off something cruel. The only time that film got any reaction out of me was when that guy in the wheel chair got killed. A sense of delight came over me... as well as disappointment that it wasn't gruesome[sp?] enough.
