I think they are leaving him on the shelf for the rest of his contract.
Pity, I really like Steiner.
I had heard that Steiner was released a while ago. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I remember it.
Edit: Posted at a forum found on Google, credit to PWInsider.
WWE has bought Scott Steiner out of his deal and he’s now completely gone from WWE.
Also, the trademark for "Big Poppa Pump" is abandoned for obvious reasons.
Steiner's last appearance in WWE was as a participant in the 2004 Royal Rumble. Afterwards, he was put on the injury list for a hip flexor. WWE decided to keep him off TV instead of bringing him back, despite suggestions that they should have used him on Smackdown to put over Eddie Guerrero.

He's been gone awhile. I still think they should have switched him over to Smackdown.

He should have never been on Raw in the first place. I'd like to believe if he did n;t have such a bad match first match with Triple h then he could have been still a top midcarder. But the fans saw that match and Steiners fate was sealed.\
Remember how long it took the WWF(E) fans to forget the Booker/Buff match? They looked down upon Booker T for months and months. He was getting heat but it was never because he was being a good heel, it was because they remembered how shitty that match was, imo. Then he showed the fans that it wasn't him who sucked... if was all Buff and Fast forward to now and he so fucking over... i wish the WWE would give him the title.

Steiner hasn't been good in a long time. His drop foot syndrome severly limits him in the ring, and his muscles are so big, they limit his mobility.

I thought his team with Test was ok and they probably could have had a tag team title run.
