View Full Version : So How About Maven

Here comes one of mine gloating threads.

Man, Maven was dam awesome on Raw. I thought that was some of the best heel expressions and tactics I've seen in a while. I've never seen that before when Maven tripped himself to get an outside manager removed. I mean, I've seen Guererro do something similar, but this had a much better effect. Shows the smart side of heel Maven. Then when Regal come in, he rolls out and when Regal turns his back, he grabs the belt and WHAM. Another smart tactic. That reminded me so much of HHH back in 2000 as the "Cerebral Assassian.

And then at the end of the match. Wow, check out those "Maven Sucks" chants. And he did a great impromptu (not scripted) heel expression to counter that. He puts his arms up to the audience, saying "What?" and then does like a "Screw you" kind of gesture. I thought that was great. I'm telling you, the kid has the personality to be great and I'm a bigger fan of personality, character, and expressions more so than wrestling skills, especially for the heels. He will need to amp up his wrestling though.

He can talk on the mic as well, as we saw from when he did Raw not to long ago. Very Rock-like.

Didn't you think he was terrible last week? Or at least his heel turn?

No, not Maven. The turn itself. Why turn a guy during a low drawing segment after he could of turned as part of a main event angle? His turn was out of nowhere last week.

I loved his heel turn. I was like, finally. Having a feud with Regal will really do good things for him.

Maven's main problem since being in WWE is that most people see him as just some guy who won his contract on some TV show.

I think only now are they actually trying to move him away from that which i think is the right thing to do with the new attire and all.

I think Maven should stay heel for awhile cause his definatly showing alot of Potential.

It it just me, or has Maven bulked up as well. At first he was you no, fit and cut, but now he has like bulging pecs and looks bigger.

Oh, and when he tripped himself, I was like wtf, then he blamed it on regal, that was pretty damn good.

I've never been all that big of a fan of Maven, but he has been impressing me more and more over the past few weeks. However, they really should have turned him four weeks ago with the whole Evolution, Triple H thing.

Maven did not join Evolution because the group will soon be no more. Probably by Royal Rumble time

What makes you assume because Maven helps Evolution, then he joins? Wrestling has gotten way to single-minded, just because a guy does this, then he must be doing that. I blame the writers.

How else would maven turn on that night in the M.E.? Let HHH beat him yet not join Evolution?

yeah, why not. Lots of times guys have helped out stables, but haven't joined. One that comes to mind right now is Jericho with The Anti-Americans a few years back.

He could of been helping them out, but not hanging around with them

That angle was just used to tease a Maven turn to gauge the crowd's reaction, and since he got heat that night they used another angle to turn him last week on RAW.

They did the same thing with Batista a week later, and now it looks like he's gonna turn face anytime now.

But why LC? Why would he throw his biggest shot yet away? He would need a pretty good reason if he did not join HHH.

Man, i love what the WWE or whoever is writing this is doing with Maven. This is the perfect time to do this too..the WWE doesn't have as many upper-mid card heels as they should and Maven has the "juice" IMO

I personally think they should throw Maven into the IC title hunt and have him and Shelton fued for a little while. Then I would have Maven actually get the title and hold it for 3-4 months.

Yeah I really hate Maven, but I have to say he was very entertaining as a heel.

I dont want to compare him to The Rock, but its obvious he ta least paid attention to some old Rock as a heel tapes. Which of course is a good thing.

Hopefully they run with this, and hopefully he can continue to improve.

He pretty much did nothing as a face except sit and job once in a while. At least now he's getting some attention, and doing a damn good job with it. He looks good as a heel, whereas when he was a face, he didn't really do much of anything. I'm liking this new Maven. He'll be one of those characters you love to hate.

Most people will now have a reason to hate Maven, that is if the writers pull this off right. He could be the biggest jerk and hell, anything he does as a heel would come out better than anything from his face days.

He needs to change his look, attire, entrance, and maybe incorporate how he won the contest and that makes him the greatest since all he did was win it and got the job. Whatever cocky things he does would help but he showed he's got something after that week as GM.

I never saw RAW this week, but I'll have to disagree on this point.

I think the fact that Maven did NOT join Evolution a few weeks ago (yet turned heel last week out of frustration) adds DEPTH to Maven's character and storylines in general.

To me, it illustrates how Maven is frustrated because

a) He missed an opportunity to join Evolution
b) He failed in his attempt to win the world title
c) He hasn't gone "anywhere" in 3 years.

Besides - it looks like Evolution will be disbanding fairly soon (Evolution seems a bit dead anyways).

On a semi-related note, I'm glad to know that Maven looked impressive as a heel.

As I stated this past summer, Maven would be FAR better off as a heel.

That's actually a really good point. "Missed Oppurtunities" do get people frustrated, whether it be in wrestling or the real world. Now Maven's pissed because he should of listened to HHH when he had the chance and backed out because he would hurt his fans.

GOOD POINT :y: :y:

Maven is going to be a great heel. His charisma and ability to play to the crowd are excellent; however his in ring ability isn't the greatest yet. A couple of great mid card feuds as a heel will help him get much needed experience and this guy could make it into the ME scene in a few years :y:

I'm looking forward to seeing Maven involved with William Regal, the World Tag Titles or the IC Title headed into New Year's Revolution. I have high hopes for 2005 (I don't know why), but I feel that if Evolution broke-up, heels like Edge, Christian, Maven, Jericho (or Benoit, if they choose to turn one), Randy Orton and Triple H will be much better off (from an exposure point of view).

This is exactly what needed to be done with Maven. He hasn't been this interesting (or even close) since his feud with Taker.

Maven did a good job as a heel. That trip was priceless.

But man.... is it just me.... or is Maven just so.... femenine looking?

I've always liked Maven, and I'm glad they're finally doing something decent with him.

I don't think so. He sorta looks more gentle than most, but that can really work to his advantage. The gentle guy who doesn't have that edge, gets a different kind of edge.
