Anyone know what his "real" height and weight was? Wwe always said 7,5. Obviously that wasn't the case though, they seem to exagerrate just about anything they can for one reaon or another. Anyway been watching through some videos tonight with andre and its pretty clear in wm3 against hogan he was maybe 2-3 inches taller than hogan, then in one of the desire videos with vince standing beside him with a mic andre must be a good 2-3 feet taller than vince, obviously he was standing on something. Then another vid with bossman shaking andres hand andre was maybe 4 inches taller than bossman, in bossmans match with bigshow a few eyars ago show seemed to dwarf bossman by quite a bit.

Why do they go to such lengths though to exagerrate the height of a wrestler? Its like saying kanes 7 feet though hes obviously shrunk about 6-7 inches in the last year or so, think his real height is around 6.6 or so.

Anyway anyone know what height andre really was? Im guessing probably slightly smaller than undertaker or around that, maybe 6,8-6,9. As for his weight they always stated around 550lbs, im assuming that would be closer to the 400lb mark.

I'd say he's about 7'1-7'2

He had by far the biggest head I have ever seen

Yeah i think thats one of the main reasons people think he was bigger than he was, because of the gigantism some of his body parts did look oversized even for a man of his size. Kinda an optical illusion i suppose.

That picture doesn't look right, he looks like a huge midget (you know cause midgets are disporotional)

Truth is, Andre never quit growing. It was the a disease that ultimately killed him. Hence why it was hard to find an accurate estimation of how tall he was. Very rare disease.

Yeah I remember seeing the A&E thing about him. (at least i think it was a&e) And he was huge, he could conceal a beer can in each hand and needed a whole bottle of vodka to even feel a buzz from drinking. Poor guy.

Well Bossman was 6'6, and the Top of Bossman's head is up to Andre's eyes. Baring in mind Andre's head was huge, I would say he is about 7'1 in that picture, yeah I heard about what HBK2K said as well, and it seems believable.
R.I.P Andre and Bossman.

Andre was about 6'9-6'10.

like others have said, he appeared larger due to the disease he had, called somehting like: acromelegy.

Big show too suffers from it, but he took medication when he was younger, as well as having operations, so it had less of an effect

I had a neighbour who was a ref when Andre started wrestling in Montreal. He used to talk with him and everything, and he even witnessed one of those incredible 100 beers in one sitting. When he started wrestling, Andre was 6'9. When he died, he was 7'2''. At least that's what he told me.

That neighbour always had cool stories from old school wrestlers.

I just saw the end of that A&E documentary yesterday. They said when he had surgery on his back, they didn't know how much anesthesia to give him. They had to go on alcohol consumption, and went from there. They only noted his weight when he died (from what I saw), which was 530lbs.

I have a question, though, while we're on the subject of Andre. Tim White was on the documentary and they called him Andre's "handler"/friend. What was that about? Was he his manager or agent or something?

Yes. Eventually, your body can no longer handle the strain. Even if heart failur doesn't get you, there's about a dozen ways that his form of gigantism will kill you.

Andre kept growing, which is part of the reason he looks different in pictures form different timeframes. Also, there's the issue of camera perspective (and obviously, his accentuated features).

Also, the bigger you are, the more of a difference a few inches can make. It's really weird how that works, but it's because your body is larger proportionately. It's why they're able to sell people like Andre and Taker as being larger than they are.
