I defintely agree that Blanchard was rated too high.

8.5 for Sarge though, he was such a great heel. You better give Sarge a high rating, you maggots!

Just like Flair was rated too low...

I give Slaughter an 8.5

He was always a good character as either a heal or a face and there haven't been many that could pull that off well in my opinion.

lol @ Flair being tied with Raven

Also.... Tajiri is better than Flair in accordance to this list...

If you think Blanchard was rated too high, you should have voted accordingly, ass. You people make these ratings what they are.

Lara Emily
12-16-2004, 01:05 AM
The thing with this system is that certain wrestlers ie Flair, Benoit etc... have people who love them and people who despise them. As such the ratings usually end up lower then they really should be. It`s why honestly I`m suprised Hart managed to get past that problem.

With People like Blanchard have less people probably voted because few of us have seen him, I am lucky to be one of those who has, and like I those who have seen him are probably more inclined to vote high.

WHAT THE FUCK!!!! 96!!!! I'm sure he was good but I'm sure he's not a Bret or Kurt

The Sarge gets a 8

Well I agree with Lara, but if you're a smart person, Bret should have been voted that highly. Tully hardly got any votes therefore there was less chance of his rating going down as only those who are not ignorant about him voted.

Personally I know of him but I didn't vote..I would have given him no higher then an 8.5

As for Sarge he gets a 7.8 from me.

KingofOldSchool

Exactly what Lara said.

This thing totally reeks of bias, because if we were actually rating the "Wrestler" then some of the wrestlers would be rated higher and others would've been rated lower.

I mean I'm not the biggest Bret Hart mark, but I respected his work enough to give him a 10. Likewise with Hulk Hogan just because of what he did for wrestling.

I think most people need to actually step outside of their own personal bias when rating and not just give 10's because they are a mark for the wrestler.

^ yes. I'll never understand how a wrestler like AJ Styles has a higher score than HHH and Ric Flair

And it is interesting to note sometimes I was fuly guilty of voting high because I was a mark for a certain wrestler: Disco Inferno being the prime example.

That is the other flaw in this system. There is no standard form of evaluation. Some have created their own, others (like myself, I fully admit) have not. In fact I will even further admit that the reasons for my ratings vary from wrestler to wrestler. With Disco it was soley based on just how much he entertained me, with Blanchard it was because he was fucking fantastic in the ring, even if isn't one of my top 10 favorites of all time.

Also another flaw is that there is no guarantee each wrestler will garner the same number of ratings, nor does each wrestler get the same raters.

I'll even further analyze my own rating practices and note that generally I only tend to rate wrestlers I really like. When it comes to those I don't like or generally don't care about I rate sporadically and usually only when bored.

I'm not saying that Blanchard isn't a top 10 talent, because he is. Believe me, I think Blanchard was better than Austin and/or Pillman. but top 3? Heavens no.

Anyays on topic.

8 and that's about .5 more than I would have given him if it wasn't for his title win, which contains some of the best digusted reactions from announcers (Piper and Monsoon) ever.

Tully being in the top three is fucked.

KingofOldSchool
12-16-2004, 02:08 AM
Yeah I'm a lot shocked that Tully was rated so high, but I don't take back my rating for him because I've probably have watched more T.B. matches/promos than anyone else here.

That is why I'm so partial to Ric Flair, I've seen probably more of his stuff than anyone here. I have tons and TONS of tapes full of NWA footage. I've looked at them and I studied them, not just as a fan, but as hopeful writer.

I try to be as impartial as possible when rating this. I wasn't there to rate either Flair or Bret, and even though I am a Bret mark, and I absolutely hate Flair, I still would give 10 to both of them. Hell, I even bought his DVD. Bias shouldn't come into play for this. And I would also give Tully a 10. As a wrestler, he can be one of the best ever. The lack of exposure shouldn't punish him.

Anyway, 7.5 for Slaughter.

Is secertly very happy that Tully is a Top Three...as he is one of my top three ever :shifty:

Sgt. Slaughter was a tough one for me to call. I never liked him. Not as a child, not now. I don't find him entertaining in the least, but I do realise his extreme popularity, not to mention his gimmick is one...that for whatever reason...got over with the crowd. I don't think anyone who has been in a WrestleMania Main Event should get lower then a 7 for just that reason. So with that in mind I hand Sarge an above average 7.0.

Oh Slaughter gets an 8.4

When was Blanchard good, in WCW or something? I only remember him in the 80's when he tagged with Arn Anderson. I didnt think he was anything special.......

Arn and Tully in WWF was a joke. Go back to some good old NWA (WCW) matches, he was a master at the time.

And as for Looseys comment about playing heel...no he never played face, but you don't need to be good at both to be deserving of greatness...Angle played face for 8 months, and was terrible at it (IMO) yet he deserves to be top 3 as well.

Yeah, Blanchard was an awesome singles worker. Check out his matches against Magnum T.A. and Dusty Rhodes. That guy can work a match and the mic and if Ric Flair wasn't around, then it would've been Tully every one talked about. He was THAT good.

Anyway i give the Sarge an 8.5

and congrats to Tully. He was good so i havent got a problem with him being there.

If on the other hand somebody like Giant Gonzales, Bastion Booger or Zeus were to somehow get on there then id be pissed. Cause you always get 1 idiot giving someone like that a 10.
