You know, as we begin to talk about what will happen at Mania 21, I thought I might be fun to look back to March of 1995...Where were we then?
*Well WrestleMania XI saw a main event of a Wrestler taking on a Football Linebacker...
*Of course the most import fact of Mania XI was it was Billy Gunn's WrestleMania debut! :)
*Owen Hart took home his first Title ever when he and his mystery partner (Yokozuna) defeated the Smokin' Gunns for the Tag Titles
*Bret Hart lost an I Quit match with Bob Backlund in which we saw Roddy Piper Guest referee (note he guest ref-ed Hart's match the year earlier too)
*We were one month away from seeing the first In-Your-House event.
*We had yet to see the WrestleMania appearnces from such current WWE legends as Triple H, The Rock, or Mick Foley
But that's not all...in March of 1995 there was another company making it's mark...WCW...
*WCW was debuting it's very first Uncensored
*Steve Austin was still being "Stunning" in WCW
*To counter WrestleMania's Football Player vs. Wrestler, WCW presented a Boxer vs. Wrestler match with Arn Anderson falling to Johnny B. Badd.
*Hulk Hogan was leg dropping around with his WCW World Title...
But wait, that's not all...why don't we take a quick glace at what that little company called ECW was doing...
*ECW was not even a year into calling itself "Extreme"
*Shane Douglas continued to hold the ECW World Title, with Too Cold Scorpio ending Dean Malenko's 4 Month TV Title reign, and of course Benoit and Malenko continued to parade around with their ECW Tag Team Titles...
*ECW wasn't quite up to PPV level yet (was two years off to be exact) but we were one month after ECW's big event The Night The Line Was Crossed and one month shy of Hostile City Showdown '95...
Anyway there is no real reason to any of this, it's just fun to look back and see how far the business has come in 10 years...
