Mister Sinister

Okay...it has been debated and discussed since the early days of The Rate The Wrestler, Why Is A.J Styles ahead of Ric Flair? Who The Fuck is Hayabusa and why is he rated so high, CM Punk has the same score as Hogan...WTF
All thoses I have heard, and well, in the words of Gene Snitzsky....It's not my Fault!
sorry, I had to get that out, it was us, who voted the superstars where they were, wheither or not, they deserved to be there or not....I mean, as I have stated a million times, not everyone grades things the same way as others...Some do it strictly on Potential and Talent (Which is why Styles scored so High) Some do it, based on Archivements among other things....So here is your chance, Since I'm interested....what is everyone own personal Top 10? Try to avoid shouting and bitching at each other....
I'll post mine later.

Here's my list. As you can tell, I'm not basing it on ring skills alone, my own mark-out-ism comes in to play.
1. Chris Jericho - My favorite wrestler of all time. Period.
2. Ric Flair - Could carry anyone to at least a 4 star match, provided the opponent went with Flair's formula (hence why Flair's matches with Dusty Rhodes were kinda crap because of Dusty's unwillingness to use it)
3. Mick Foley - Possibily the greatest hardcore wrestler ever with undoubtedly the biggest heart in the business. He put his body through complete and utter hell just to entertain the fans, and he getss the utmost credit from me for it.
4. Shawn Michaels - Had the flash, style, charisma, and ring skills to make him an instant favorite among most people, myself included.
5. Kurt Angle - Quite possibly the greatest natural athlete ever to compete in the squared circle. One of the two heroes of WM19 in my book, wrestling the main event against Brock Lesnar with a broken neck, and putting Brock over no less.
6. Steve Austin - As annoying as he was in his later WWE days, the man is a legend and well worthy of the title. Great on the mic and managed to still be a very entertaining worker up until his final match at WM19. Speaking of WM19, I consider him to be the other WM19 hero, as he went out and wrestled a great final match with The Rock despite being hospitalized on the same day as the show.
7. "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig - Was an AMAZING competitor with more charisma and talent in his left pinky than most had in their entire bodies. He is and always will be sorely missed in the wrestling business.
8. Owen Hart - A great competitor who's life was taken in a tragic accident. Owen had insane amounts of charisma and talent, and I still firmly believe that if he were still alive, he would have held the WWE Championship by now.
9. Diamond Dallas Page - Great, talented wrestler. Didn't get the push he deserved until past his prime, but that doesn't sop him from ruling. Owner of one of the most out-of-nowhere finishers in history, the Diamond Cutter.
10. Goldberg - OK, I'll probably get a lot of crap for this, but as I said, my mark-out-ism factors into my scores. Goldberg was the first wrestler I have EVER been a mark for (I started watching wrestling regularly in 1998). I still consider a myself a mark for him to this day, even after his WWE run. Also, I never thought he was as horrible in the ring as everybody made him out to be.

1. Ric Flair - I've always defended him and I always will. Ric Flair means to me in wrestling, like Eddie Vedder means to me in music. Ever since I was a little kid, Flair drew me in. He and Sting were the two that got me hooked into the NWA/WCW, those two kept me watching...not the nWo, not Hulk Hogan. Flair was always the guy that could make you hate him within in two seconds of him opening his mouth, but by the end of his promo you just had to applaud him. Not because he sucked as heel, but because what he said was the truth. He wasn't the type of heel to make lies and try to beat around the bush, he was honest and straight forward. And when he got in the ring, he really did give the fans their money's worth. If it wasn't for Ric Flair and the Four Horseman, then Jim Crockett would have gone down the shithole a lot quicker. You may hate him for who he is backstage, but I love him for the man he was in front of the camera.
Tie 1. Sting - Along with Ric Flair, the guy who got me hooked on NWA/WCW and wrestling in general. He may have not be the best wrestler in the World, but his overpouring of charisma and passion helped overshadow any shortcomings he had in the ring. Unlike Hogan, Sting's character wasn't pushed over the top. Sting managed to be the most popular wrestler in WCW for at least untill early 1998. He meant everything to WCW for years, while Flair was either not active or in the WWF, Sting carried WCW on his back.

Acctaully I'm going to redo:
10. Mic Foley - The King of Hardcore. The greatest garabage wrestler ever, and the only one to mainevent a wrestlemania.
9. Chris Jericho - Sure he wasn't the first heavyweight champion to be under 6'4" and 240 lbs. But he is the first man ever to be the undisputed heavywieght champion of the world. Think about that, not only was he well below the normal size of maineventers, especially for Vince McMahon's promotion, but he got to be the first undisputed champion, which garuntees him a spot in the hall of fame.
8. Goldberg - He was that man that could have turned WCW around, to bad no one in charge saw that.
7. Sting - See Rock.
6 The Rock - Well duh.
4&5. The Outsiders - I'm rating Nash and Hall together because the pair forced a new era in wrestling. Sure Hogan may claim the nWo was all him. But if it wasn't for Scott Hall just showing up on WCW, and then Nash joining him, the wrestling world wouldn't be the same.
3. Stone Cold Steve Austin - Biggest draw ever. He was also one hell a wrestler. He basically redefine wrestling.
2. The Immortal Hulk Hogan - Sure he is a politcal, backstabbing, manpulative asshole that killed WCW. But still, the man is the living, breathing embodiment of all that is wrestling. Flair and Sting best represent WCW. Austin and Rock best represent WW(F)E, Hogan is wrestling, non-donominational.
1. Ric "Mother Fucking" Flair - A true icon. And after reading wrestlecrap, Death of WCW, and just everything else, if anyone can go through that many god awful angles, and still come out on top, he must be doing something right.

Runners up would be guys like (I'll do 5 runner ups in no particular order), Ted Dibiase, Owen Hart, Arn Anderson, Bruno Sammartino, and Bob Backlund. AJ Styles would probably be my go ahead for 16, with Taz (note the one 'Z') hitting 17.

The Problem (in my opinion), is that this thread shouldn't be about who is your top TEN wrestlers............on a WWE message board. The WWE is in the Sports-Entertainment business.........not wrestling business.
With this in mind, I would try and use qualities such as "fan popularity", "overness during their respective era", AND overall wrestling ability in determining who was/is the greatest of all-time.
Honorable mentions: Mick Foley, Hall/Nash (as a duo), etc.
10) Kurt Angle
9) Undertaker
8) Triple H
7) Shawn Michaels
6) Ric Flair

4) Andre The Giant

1) Kurt Angle
2) Dynamite Kid
3) Shawn Michaels
4) Bret Hart
5) Chris Benoit
6) Eddie Guerrero

8) Ric Flair (would be higher, but I also feel that Bret Hart made very valid points about him in terms of in-ring pyschology)
9) Mr. Perfect
10) Ricky Steamboat
The One

The One's Top Ten
Number 10 - Raven
Entrancing. I don't have another word for him, everytime he is on a scene I am forced to drop whatever I am doing and watch him. His promos are incredible, and while he isn't the best wrestler...there is even something there were I just become engrossed in his matches. He is one of those guys who I just try to watch as much as possible of. (Number 10 spot was a tough call between Taz and Raven...so I guess an honorable mention should go out to Taz)
Number 9 - Billy Gunn (The One/Mr. Ass/Badd Ass)
This was VERY hard for me to put him so low on my list. As many of you know Billy Gunn is my favorite wrestler of all time. The reason he is not in the number one spot is that I can't put someone that high on my list with having only a minimal impact on the industry. I admit, Billy never ushered in a new era, never changed the way we view anything, never made history (Well the most decorated WWE Tag Team Wrestler...but you get what I mean). I don't know why, but I always just loved the guy, and I will continue to be a huge Gunn mark til the day I die.
Number 8 - Chris Jericho (Y2J/Lionheart)
Chris Jericho is a man whom I have fallowed since his time in Japan, were he was incredible. He came to America and began working with ECW, which was fine, but I don't think he came into Chris Jericho as we know him now until his time in WCW with Ralfus. Funny, annoying, cocky heel. Is was great. For as much as he has been held down in WWE, I must admit Jericho is one of the only things that Vince used well that Eric completly failed on. He is always entertaining, and no pun intended, he is the Highlight of the Night.
Number 7 - Davey Boy Smith (The British Bulldog)
Davey Boy is one of those guys who I just loved. I thought he had it all. The gimmick was great, he was really the first non-American National Pride guy to get over big with the fans as a face or a heel. Plus I jusr remember SummerSlam '92...wow. Unbelievable. Plus anyone who has seen him throughout his entire career knows how much he truly did love and give for this industry. In my eyes there was nothing that Davey Boy couldn't do. I still find it a crime against this industry that he never won a credible World Title...damn shame.
Number 6 - Tully Blanchard
I don't know why everyone had such a beef with this guy getting in the top ten. He is GREAT. The first guy to really combine GREAT wrestling with GREAT promos and a GREAT character. I view him as the original Chris Jericho...he was the first guy who could get it down in and out of the ring. Better in the ring and on the mic then Flair, just didn't have the charisma...and just about a lightyear ahead of anyone else at the time...
Number 5 - Mick Foley (Cactus Jack/Mankind/Dude Love)
Love him, love him, love him. I can recall every single time I have met him, and every single time I felt like I was standing in awe. No he isn't the image of a wrestler, but he gave this industry his heart and soul...possibly more then anyone else I have ever seen. I don't care if you call him a stuntman or a wrestler, a legend or a bum, Foley is God in my eyes. Entertaining beyond compare...and every time he won a big match, I felt like a peice of me had won.
Number 4 - Kurt Angle
I am hoping my last ounce of wrestling passion that Angle's neck is able to heal. I don't know what to say, if there is anyone who will one day be able to surpass my number one, it just might be Angle...it was a gamble for me to put him so high, but like I said I am holding out hope he can heal right and give us a decade or two...yeah that's right I am hoping for 15 or so years out of Kurt. High hopes, yes, but I think if anyone can do it, he can.
Number 3 - Bret Hart (The Hitman)
Number 3 and number 2 spots were hard for me. I love both these men, and I have enjoyed nearly every step of both of their careers. Bret Hart has given me so many classic matches, and he is just such a class act. From everything I have heard he is a perfect gentleman backstage, and the two times I met him, he was just about as personable and friendly as a good friend of mine. You can tell he loves this business, and he loves the fans, which is a true rarness not often found in wrestlers. His passion is off the charts and just is a class act. Bret is the only one who borke the Hart Blessing, and by that I mean he is the only Hart to ever be more then just a Hart Family memeber. Which don't get me wrong being a Hart Family Memeber is a blessing, but it is also an expectation...Bret met and soared above those. In a time when nothing is sacared, Bret is everything someone could hope for backstage.
Number 2 - Shawn Michaels (Heartbreak Kid)
After such high praise for one man, odd that I would put someone so opposite in front of him. This was a tough call and I will tell you how I made it. Bret is everything youl would hope for behind the camera, but in front, I don't think you can match Shawn Michaels. Vince was once quoted as saying, "On a performance level, I don't know if Shawn Michaels has a peer yet, I don't know if he ever will." I whole heartedly agree. There is something magical about Shawn, every time he steps foot in a ring it is going to be bell for bell a great match. HIs backstage polotics are well known, and while it's a shame, it taints Michaels as a man, not as a Professional Wrestler. I can really only rank these men as to my watching them perform. And the truth must be told, in the ring, Shawn Michaels is the peak of where one can reach. Bottomline, he is a living legend who needs to realise he doesn't need to use stroke to get ahead...
Number 1 - Ric Flair (The Nature Boy)
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! That's right, it's the limosene ridin', Jet Flyin', Kiss Stealin', Wheelin', Dealin' Son of a gun! The Nature Boy! Screw Hulk Hogan, screw Attitude Era, Ric Flair is the man. I can't recall anything getting me more into wrestling then Slick Ric. As a child I watched him, and a young man I adore him. He is professional wrestling. Is he the greatest in the ring, no. He is not. It he one of the greats, yes. Did he ever have the best body, no. He did not. But he was still one of the studs of professional wrestling. I am one of the few people who hated The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection, because I didn't think that 3 discs was enough. In a time when saying something like "Hulk Hogan or The Rock transends wrestling." I am proud to say Ric doesn't. He doesn't transend wrestling, he IS professional wrestling. I wont hife the fact that he is a walking ball of controversy, and actually I have been on record as saying he is a Legend For Hire...At one point or another he has said that WWE, WCW, and NWA is the greatest promotion of all time, but as I look back on it, I think he truly does beleive it. It is possible to see one as the greatest, and see another as the greatest as well...you know I am going off to somewhere where I don't need to go. The fact is without Ric Flair, NWA wouldn't have been what it was, without Flair WWF would have never had a chance to last long enough to get Hogan in there, without Flair I don't know if professional wrestling would still be around in the way it is today. Flair was the first to really transend terratory wrestling, and just embody the entire industry. The bottomline is, Ric Flair is The Man! Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
