Mr. Nerfect

At the current stage on SmackDown!, there are two main focus heel stables. Team Angle (Kurt Angle, Luther Reigns & Mark Jindrak) and The Layfield Corporation (JBL, Orlando Jordan, Amy Weber, Doug Basham & Danny Basham). These two stables have teased a power-struggle as of late, and it looks liek we may have JBL vs. Angle vs. The Big Show for the WWE Championship at the annual Royal Rumble PPV in January.
This match would no doubt be entertaining and a solid match-up, and storyline-wise it would probably lead to JBL vs. Big Show or JBL vs. Angle vs. Show in a Barbed Wire Cage Match at No Way Out.
Now for the big question, could one potential way to keep interest in this feud be to have a double defection at the RR, and have The Basham Brothers turn on JBL, as well as Luther Reigns & Mark Jindrak betraying Angle? Let's have a look at their current roles in their respective factions.
The Basham Brothers
They are currently serving as Co-Secretaries of Defense in JBL's Cabinet. While JBL has brought the spotlight on these guys, there doesn't seem to be much room for developement for The Bashams in the Cabinet. The only thing I can see is JBL turning into Caesar, and having Orlando Jordan "steal his gimmick", or having a "romantic" angle, where Danny Basham tries to win Amy Weber's love, which eventually leads to a face turn for Danny, and either a face turn for Doug (in a Broodish-type way, with JBL and Orlando telling Doug to punish Danny for his actions, which Doug promptly refuses), or a bloodfeud with Doug.
While these could both prove interesting, one may not be that successful, and one breaks up one of the only tag teams in the WWE right now (not a good thing). Trading the Bashams as Co-Secretaries of Defense for World Class Proteges is not only more of a fitting role for The Bashams, but it gives Angle "clones" under him, instead of seperate personalities, and it could be argued that Doug & Danny are closer to Angle in terms of ability.
Finally, Doug & Danny would have more room for character developement, and more room for face-turn teases, as well as growing individual personalities. his would also allow both guys to become viable challengers for the US Title without stepping on someone else's toes (namely Orlando Jordan).
Reigns/Jindrak
Both are fine in their current roles, but they seem too different to play Angle's underlings. As JBL's replacement Secretaries of Defense, they'd have more pressure pushing them towards the tag team division (a good thing for now), and they have potential decisive roles to play. To be honest, Reigns and Jindrak don't seem to have accomplished anything since debuting as "proteges" to Angle. They seem to be closer in build to JBL (and Orlando Jordan as well), and seem to fit in really well with the stable. It would be interesting to see Reigns & Weber interact as well.
So that poses the question. Are they perfect in their current roles, or could thye be better adjusted to the SmackDown! way of life in opposite roles?
