Yeah, it's been done before, but I'm doing it again.

As the topic title suggests, what are your greatest triumphs when playing sports video games?

I got Madden '05 for X-Mas and was playing my dad this morning. I was the Falcons and he was the Bengals. He scored with 53 seconds left in the 4th quarter to take a 5 point lead (don't remember the exact score).

So I get a lousy kickoff return and am in my own territory. I set up a running play, but then remember I have no timeouts and end up audible-ing into a passing play and I pressed X twice by mistake, because I was running out of time, and ended up wasting the play. 2nd down from the shotgun I send my receivers out and I pull right. I manage to hit my guy for a 1st down at my own 48 yard line, and I use the hurry up offense to spike the ball and stop the clock.

I basically waste the next 2 plays with incompletes, which brings me to 4th and 10 at my own 48 with under 20 seconds left. I go for the WR Streaks (which is basically a Hail Mary). The play starts and I veer left, looking for an open man. And not only can I not find anyone, but they are all too deep for me to throw, so I press L2 to get Vick scrambling and I just start rushing forward next to the sideline, planning to run out of bounds if someone gets close to me. But to my shock, I had a clear lane straight across, and nobody even touched me, and I scored the game-winning TD on a 52 yard run with 6 seconds to spare.

My dad and I were both sitting there in shock afterwards, and after the extra point, he ate up 3 seconds on the kickoff return and then threw an incomplete pass to end the game.

That has to be my best triumph.

I was playing NFL Blitz on PSX with my cousin...he was the Pack and I was the Broncos... and he was leading after a score with like 5 seconds on the clock. So, I get the kick off with T.D. (who was the man) and we both figure, shit, I'll go down and lose. But I ran down the right sideline and barely shrugged off the last tackler for the game winning TD :D.

Was playing NFL Fever 2K3 with my dad, it was the 4th quarter and the score was 21-21, he kicked a fieldgoal with like 7 seconds left making it 24-21 he started talking shit saying I suck and all that. He kicked the ball off and I returned it all the way with Chris Chambers, that sure shut him up... :D

Bringing this topic back from the grave to see if anyone has any new triumphs...and also to brag about a ridiculous comeback I just made

Madden 2005, me vs. my dad again using semi-updated rosters, I was the Lions (home), he was the Chiefs (away)

I managed to shut Holmes down most of the game, so he brought in Johnson and totally destroyed me with him.

He had a 38-28 lead on me after the 2 minute warning, so he brought Holmes back in and managed a TD, bringing his lead to 44-28....in a fit of rage, I moved my guy offsides on the EP and destroyed his holder...but he declined the penalty (meaning he didn't get an EP) and we just looked to finish up the game

Anyways, I actually managed a Harrington to Pollard TD , and got a 2-point conversion to make it 44-36 with 46 seconds left....whoopdee doo.

Then on the onside kickoff attempt...he called for a normal kickoff return by mistake (he tried calling a timeout but I had already started the kick meter) and I got the onside kick....managed to get several long Harrington passes and eventually a Harrington to Jones TD pass with 23 seconds left...he starts to panic...and on the 2-pt conversion Rogers was wide open but one of his LBs barely managed to block it....making it 44-42

So of course, I go for the onside and he calls the right kickoff team this time.....but I GET IT. So I have 23 seconds to get downfield. Harrington gets two incomplete passes......and then a 27 yarder to Rogers, and I call my 2nd timeout and bring out Hanson for a 51 yard attempt with 4 seconds left to win it

He calls a timeout to distract me, and not gonna lie.....I was afraid I was gonna fuck it up....that heartbeat pressure thing is going on to distract me further.....no wind indoors, I start the meter...99 Power, 99 Accuracy, still BARELY clears the bar to end it, with me winning 45-44....my father and I were both shocked :|

Amazing how far one extra point can go

My dad was beating me 42-3 at the half in NCAA 03 with USC vs. UCLA. I was UCLA and came back to win 43-42 at the end.

Probably winning the Stanley Cup in NHL 2005 in overtime 2-1. I play one game series, so it was all-or-noting. Cheechoo won it for The Habs. (I trade a lot)

Pens (me) vs Preds (computer) in like NHL 2002, without any roster alterations or anything I beatem in a full 20 minute periods game 33-0, I get over 300 shots and they got 0.

Anyway, I'm a pretty shitty 1st-half Madden player. Whenever I play my friend, I give up a lot of points, go down big early, and then shut him down in the second half and come back and win.

Other than that, dunno, don't often play other people. Tend to get a bit too haeted. Used to call my friends cheaters etc., in retrospect it was hilarious. One time I punched a cooler and broke my hand.

Wait, that wasn't me, that was Kevin Brown... :nono:

My 25 inning triumph in MVP Baseball 2005, that happened about a month ago. Amazing victory, and it was a walk off on top of it :)

Far too many to list over the years, but tonight I had a hot game of NHL 2k6. Was the 2nd game of my season (got the game last night, just started season) and I totally ravaged the Hurricanes like 11-4. Recchi had like 4 goals and 3 assists, and Tony Irvin (crated guy, "Irving" wasn't on the list of last names so I made it Irvin so the announcers wouldn't just call him "#52") had like 60 hits in the game. Enforcer 4 lyf

I torched the PAts in the playoffs 38-0 on All-Madden. Pennington threw for 400+(and 3 INT's, 2 in the redzone :shifty:,) Martin ran for 171. Coles 3 TD receptions of 94, 81, and 52. And I held the Pats to under 100 yards of Offense. It was just "one of those games"

I dont know if wrestling is a sports game but....
I had a couple of friends that could not beat me at No Mercy for the life of 'em. So they challenge me to a handicap match, I win. Then they challenge me to a special guest ref. handicap. For a whole hour I beat6 the shit out of all three of em until the guy playing ref said fuck it and counted the three for me. I had all three knocked out or tapped out (in lossing it mode) at least 50 times, no shit.

Down a goal in Fifa 2005 in the finals for the champions league and at the 87th minute I ran up the entire field (right side) with my keeper on the world class setting and crossed it in for a header scored by Adriano. I was extremely happy.

Scored the arsiest goal ever with Toure on PES4 last night. 2-legged tie with AC Milan, first one was drawn 5-5 away.

Home leg, 89th minute, 3-4 down. Throw in goes to Toure, he turns, shoots, save, deflection off a defender, deflection off Toure and in. 4-4, 9-9 on aggregate and went through on away goals :D

For some reason, my style of foosball doesn't allow for the 99 yard TD pass... instead, I had Shockey on my team, and put him in motion into the slot. Corner post, destroyed the safety covering him and jogged for the long TD.

LOL I love how a player being good makes him perfect; for example, Bettis can burn an entire team for a TD run, Anquan Boldin can catch a bomb 80 yards downfield over a 99-speed CB, or Michael Strahan can chase down Michael Bennett from across the field...

Or a stud run-stopping safety can pick it off every time.

I dunno had some crazy games in my season of Madden with the Ravens right now.

Down 17 points on all madden with 2:30 left. Quick TD but miss the onside kick. Use all my timeouts and force a field goal with just over 30 seconds left to make it a 13 points game. One play 60 yard pass to Kevin Johnson with my made up qb. Make the onside kick, like 20 seconds left so I'm just taking shots downfield. Three incomplete passes later and its down to 8 seconds. So I just run the same play to Kevin Johnson as I did before, 60 yard TD to win by one.

Then today I was playing and just could not stop the Browns, we were just trading scores the whole game. They ended up with the final drive and it was tied. I can't stop them on the final drive and they are gonna get an easy field goal. So after using up all my timeouts and not being able to stop them, I just start going offside until the CPU is at my one and I let them run it in. Like 15 seconds left, they squib it out of bounds. Next play 60 yard td to Kevin Johnson and I go on to win in OT.
