So now Bree's is finally playing like he should have been, the problem is though is that they have a 40 million dollar back-up... would you let Bree's walk next year? re-sign him and try to move Rivers? I dunno they're kind of between a rock and a hard place where as maybe Bree's is gonna be a one year wonder... If they let him walk go and he leads a team like Baltimore, Washington or Dallas and Rivers is a bust then they'll look like idiots. However if they get rid of Rivers who is unprooven and only get like next to nothing for him and he becomes the next Marino, Favre or even Manning (not saying he's that good but who knows)

so what would you do if you were the GM of the Chargers and people saying that they're gonna keep both are full of shit cause no one is gonna have a 40 million dollar back-up and I don't think Bree's is gonna be cheap next year.

The rumor has been Brees doesn't want to come back, and I think he's a restricted free agent, or they could tag him, and they'd probably get a 1st round pick for him as compensation.

Franchise Brees and sign him, the money actaully works out and what do they care if they have 40 millon dollar back up..they are finally winning. I think they are willing to eat that contract on the bench for one more year since they are winning for the 1st time in a long time.

I would keep Brees and get rid of Rivers. I don't know how easy it is going to be to move Rivers though.

VEL, why did you quote that?

Yeah, definately keep Brees and drop Rivers

yeah I think he can be tagged. I also read he wouldn't mind staying but I mean San Diego also has 2 first round picks next year so they can always give one of the guys the boot.

If they are going to make other smart moves in the offseason to continue working with the success they had this year, then keep Brees, but if they don't dedicate themselves to winning in the near future then I could see Brees going right back down the shitter next year.

I don't think Ravens would pick up Brees either, I don't think they are going to give up on Boller just yet.

Weren't the Dolphins the team expected to make a move at him?

Who can walk at the end of the year for the Dolphins? Because if they can keep their core from this year, but bring in a guy like Brees they will have a solid offense to go with a good defense. Brees-Boston-Chambers connection biootch

the teams I kept hearing that were expecting to take a run were San Francisco, Dallas, Washington and Baltimore

All of those teams make sense. I like the idea of Brees in a Phins uni though, I have always been a Dolphins fan and I am still a Brees fan.

I am kind of changing my mind, I am thinking it may be smarter to just let Brees go. If Rivers can step in and know the system next year, he probably has an upside to be better then Brees. Like giving up Brees isn't like you are giving up a guy who will eventually be Joe Montana.

I keep hearing the Phins, but also hearing them to make a run at Edge and/or I think Alexander. I know James has said he'd like to play in Miami (went to college and lives there) and I thought Alexander made the same comment about Miami, not sure of his contract status.

I would like to see Edge in Miami, he would be cool there and I have heard the same rumors VEL has, but really they need a QB before anything else

the word is they have the cap room for both.

That'd be sweet. Seriously they would be really good if it all panned out.

But who are they losing on defense? Will they still have Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas and Junior Seau and everything?

VonErich Lives

dunno about Seau, but that's not a huge loss, personally, I've always felt he was one of the more over-rated players in the NFL, if you look at a lot of his tackles there down field, there not talkes for a loss, etc... he just got noticed for the number of tackles he made.

Taylor just signed a new deal I think 2yrs ago and I assume Zach will be back.

The Phins are going to be tough, I think Saben was a great choice for HC.

The Colts will Franchise James so he won't go anywhere.

Drop Rivers, Brees is their QB you can't just let a pro bowler go after an awesome season makes no sense?

Between him Manning and Harrison in the end it will take up like 60% of their cap.

Woulda been hilarious if the Chargers drafted Manning and never signed him or anything. He would be sitting at home watching Drew Brees tear shit up.

Its not a given Brees would have been tearing shit up though without a capable backup pushing him either I guess

You can't just get rid of a 4th overall draft pick. The Chargers will want more than anyone will be willing to give, and you can't just "drop" a contract like that.

aolim?

Actually, "Greenbear92" Green Bear was a nick name I got playing pickup football games, while wearing a reggie white GB jersey ("92"). Normally played DT or LB on Defense, and after a play someone on my team said "I saw the RB and was lineing him up and then next thing I see these arms open wide and it looked like he got mauled by a big green bear".

So, I picked that for my AOLIM (greenbear92 wouldn't fit or was already taken, so I abreviated and the "92" for reggie white) cause back then the only people I ever used it to talk w/ were people I played football with.

I think they'll tag him, but hope someone will spend a 1st round pick to sign him, As rain man said further down, if they sign him, then 3 players take up like 60% of their cap, they're screwed if that happens.
