I couldn't find an old thread, but I had to say something about Mizzou beating Gonzaga tonight.
We had a slow non-conference season, which was expected because we had a few decent teams and a lot of freshman, but now it looks as if things might be coming together and we may have a chance at getting into the big dance. Gonzaga was on a 7 game win streak coming into today with wins over OSU and Georgia Tech, so this is a pretty big game. Also we hung with Illinois a few weeks ago.

Let down game for Gonzaga tonight. After beating two #3 teams, they probably thought they wouldn't have to show up and still could win. They were almost right too.
Turiaf is a beast though. He kinda looked similar to the godfather haha

He was shut down last night though, only 6 pts. I don't know if you watched the game, but the last three minutes or so were so poor on the part of both teams. I don't think any FGs were made.

6 points? Yeah I think it said he shot 2-15 or something, crazy.
He's usually dominant. He scored 40 earlier in the year. He's pretty nasty.

Rutgers/Cuse was some straight up bull stuff. Rutgers top two scorers had 4 within two minutes into the second half and had to sit. They were beating the crap out of CUse too.

There was a poll on ESPN.com asking which undefeated team would be the first to lose, and BC was overwhelmingly the choice. I voted for Duke, in my opinion BC would probably be the last to lose. Kansas plays in the Big XII with OSU, OU, UT, MU etc. Illinois would have been more likely too, Wisconsin, Michigan State etc, personally I voted for Duke because you can't go undefeated in the new ACC. I was wrong it turns out, but just because BC is the worst team doesn't mean they are going to lose any time soon. They already have the best of the Big East done with.
Jesus Shuttlesworth
01-26-2005, 12:21 AM
Nobody is giving Boston College any credit because they usually aren't good. It's not like all those other teams are head and shoulders above BC. BC is pretty solid all around. Upfront with Smith, then in the backcourt with Dudley.
BCWWF
01-26-2005, 01:07 AM
The big thing about BC is that even though they aren't the best team in the Big East (by most peoples opinions at least), they could pretty easilly win it outright. They already upset UConn and now have Syracuse and Pitt at home.

Haha yeah I saw that too. I never really had an opinion on him, so I kind of felt for him, but meh. Pretty good game by Maryland.
The Mizzou/Oklahoma game today was so much fun. I felt sick so I wasn't sure if I was going to go, but I ended up and it was so worth it. The first half OU broke away and went up by like 14 points, then we came back and it was crazy, then we went down by 10 again, and came back again! After Jason Conley jumped the scorers table the crowd got crazy and totally messed with OU. We should have won it in regulation, but OT was just as good. I rushed and got onto the floor, they have these elderly people who just stick their arms out and don't do anything. By far the most fun game of the season (I wasn't there for the win over Gonzaga). I think next year we will have a shot at making the tourny. It was also kind of cool because OU has three Minnesotan guys, one, Lawrence McKenzie, is pretty good and I saw him play when he was a senior at Patrick Henry in 2002. So that was cool too.
I just can't wait for March Madness, I am dying to fill out the brackets and sit watching games all day. I hope we get ESPNU here too, that will be huge for Championship Week.

Ok, rushing the court has lost any kind of meaning to it. If it's an upset I see the point in it, but when the #6 teams beats the #9 team, it is pretty pointless.
BCWWF

You only rush if you are unranked and beat a ranked team, or if it is a big rivalry, ie Missouri and Kansas. Which one are you referring to?
Jesus Shuttlesworth
02-20-2005, 02:03 PM
Referring to BC beating Syracuse last night
It was the biggest win in BC's history at home. Classic shit though, BC solidifies itself with a big win and people are instead talking about how the fans rushed the court. Haters

Boston College is a hockey school so that was a huge win. Not to mention the fact that 'Cuse knocked the BC football team out of a BCS game last season. So it was some payback.
I really though BC was going to lose to Syracuse. They had so much trouble with Notre Dame's zone I figured they would be toast againest Cuse's since Syracuse is probably the best in the nation when it comes to zone defense. I guess that ND game was just a fluke.

I dunno, I just don't see a #6 team beating a #9 team an upset. Especially 'Cuse, they have been struggling and underachieving this year IMO. I didn't mean to make you think I was picking on poor BC or anything, it was just an example but since that was their biggest win in history...
But yeah, fans have been rushing the court like crazy this year. That's why I thought it was pretty cool Duke didn't rush the court when they beat NC. #9 beating #2, biggest rivalry in basketbal, etc. etc.

John Chaney is a piece of shit and should get fired.
If you didn't see it, Chaney was upset at the refs for not calling illegal screens against St. Joe's so Chaney sent in this big fat scrub to send a message. He then fouled out in 4 minutes and broke a guy's arm that he outweighed by 30 pounds by grabbing him in the air and throwing him on the floor.

The Outlaw

Chaney has been suspended for the rest of the season including post season play I thought? Yeah that was pretty sad, I mean I've seen that happen quite a few times (and been sent in to do it a few times), but never to such an extreme extent.
Also, I don't really see why I should explain why I am a fan of Duke, but if I must...I have quite a few friends that goto school there and a few that are involved with the basketball program who I met through camps, so I have been rooting for them a lot more lately. I've always been a hardcore Bama fan but Duke just get my props for having class and having such a great atmosphere to play in and whatnot, but now that some of my friends are up there I have been watching them a lot more lately. But then again, they are "gay" and I shouldn't like them since I am not from the NC area. :|
Also, let's take a look at the teams I like and how long I have liked them:
Braves - Late 80's
Packers - Early 90's
Alabama - Birth
Duke - Early 90's
Colts - Ever since Manning has been there :$
Most pro sports I don't really have teams that I just cream over (BCWWF - Minnesota, Stima - Boston) because I actually don't care for pro sports. I watch games when I have time but I would much rather watch college football/basketball than pro football/basketball any day of the week. In pro sports, I have favorite players rather than teams (Favre, Shaq, Jones, etc.), and the only ones that I really root for no matter who is on the team is Atlanta and Green Bay.
So, if you claim I am a bandwagoner, that's cool. Badwagons only last so long and like you can see, I have been a Braves/Packers/Bama/Duke fan for quite a while. You can say I jumped on the COlts bandwagon, but I don't really see a bandwagon yet...
Yeah, people that LC described should be slapped though...I have a few friends who wear NY hats because they look cool...:-\

Just in case anyone hasnt seen
I can't see what my future has in store
but I move forth with the strength of a condor
The courage of a warrior
The commitment of an American soldier
Despite this weight on my shoulder
my inner forces circulate to form
a nucleus of an unbreakable bond
These words describe the soundtrack to my life's song
My mind and body united like the Colors of Benneton
My destiny isn't told by the creases of my palm
A sharp thorn once cut my soul
The blood flowed
But no bandage would cover the wound
I couldn't help but stare at the distant moon
Waiting for a resolution to come at an instant soon
I asked the Lord, "What am I to do?"
He said, "Son, I made the sky blue
The rain falls because of me
Leaves change colors on a fall tree
I was the inspiration to Martin Luther King
I'm the reason Ray Charles could sing
I've changed others through and through
And my son, I'll do the same to you"

Ten minutes pass without a notice
Nine times in my life I've felt hopeless
Eight friends I've lost on purpose
Seven broken bones my skeleton felt were worthless
Six days of work, but only one day of worship
Five ways I feel pain, but that's only on the surface
Four corners of the earth, all touched by God's churches
Three sisters have influenced my poetic verses
Two years that I completely lost focus
One brother for which I wrote this
Ten minutes pass without a notice
My life story is read in poetic stages
I was once weak-minded, now I'm courageous
The cause and effect of a thousand actions
The mathematical breakdown of micro-fractions
It's difficult to fathom the coming of the rapture
What if I awoke in an empty pasture?
Suddenly every ounce of passion had been depleted
And all my determination had been defeated
The rain pours, my tears fall
The pain subsides, I stand in awe
A lightning bolt strikes, I feel a sudden energy
Thunder clouds approach, I can't run from destiny
A tornado tears me down, but I will stand again
My life is a hurricane, but I'll weather it to the end
No bandage can cover my scars
It's hard living a life behind invisible bars
Searching for the face of God
I'm only inspired by the poems of Nas
Because the truth has carved my life's patterns
The reality of pain, and the joy of laughter
My hopes and dreams shattered
by the miscalculation of my own situation
It's difficult to keep my nerves patient
Facing the forecast of fears
that none of my peers have ever been faced with
I wanna reach the top floor, but I'm stuck in the basement
With not enough juice to burst through
the chains that have shackled my brain
It seems my dreams have carried me to a separate peace
apart from reality
Society is allowing me to grow into the man I'm destined to become
But how can I move when my entire skeleton is numb?
Numb from the obstacles that I've been given
Suddenly the bars connect to walls
and I find myself contained inside life's prison
As I decide to fulfill my life's strategy
The devil insists on trying to battle me
I meet him in an empty field on the high plains
He throws temptations my way to inflict internal pain
Life and death matters, this ain't no game
It's mind over matter, the power of my brain
He thinks I'll give in if my muscles start to strain
He believes I'll submit to the evil of society's frame
And benefit from notoriety's gain
He says I don't have to properly train
and that he'll give me all the fame
and everyone will know my name
But I think he's insane
'Cause I know the truth- to gain is to give
To have pain is to live
So I call on my heavenly Father's name
And slowly watch the thunder and rain subside
I'm finally able to push the temptations aside
I went blow for blow, I went face to face
Now the devil knows, I'm able to escape
Not by a back door or an alternate route
I saw the middle high ground and I ran right through
