I got a used game from gamecrazy, and when I put it in, most of the time it just says "disc read error" or freezes while I'm playing it. I take it back the very next day, and the guy tells me he can only give me store credit. According to him, the policy is there so people don't just buy a game, beat it, then take it back. Which is great for them and all, but it sort of screws over anyone else who actually buys something that doesn't work.

I had the same problem when I a game from a Gamestop that's like 5 minutes from my house.
But I came back in like 30 minutes and they gave me another copy :o

Yeah, just exchange it for a different one. What is the problem here?

We have the same policy at EB Games, if the game doesnt work and we have another copy, we can only give you the other copy; if we don't, we can only give you store credit.
We do that because we'd rather keep the money in store and due to copy right laws we don't have much of a choice.
That isn't the games fault, it's the systems. Your game is fine.

Maybe he's saying he doesn't want his PS2 fixed and wanted to get the money back he spent on buying the game?
I dunno, only other thing I could think of.

Sony should come to my house and fix my playstation and give me $220, for making a shitty system that breaks.

Exactly. Also, the reason I just don't get another copy is because that's the only copy they have. And I rarely buy videogames, so store credit is kind of useless to me.

If your PS2 is getting DRE problems, just call up Sony and tell them. They send you an e-mail with their address and you can just ship it into them and they'll repair it for free.
On anther note, I have to trade in a ton of my old games because I have no room in my house for them anymore. Too bad some of them are 2002 sports games which I'll only get, like, $2 for. :-\
If you're only getting it some times then it just means the lense is dirty. Just buy a lens cleaner and you wont have to worry about any of this.
