Also wtf @ Mike Holmgren. Maybe I am bias but Shaun needed 82 yards to have the rushing title. He rushed the ball 18 times for 81 yards. On the one yard line. Hasselbeck sneaks it.

I was happy when my Broncos had it won and were in the playoffs. Then when I heard they were gonna play the Colts I was sorta sad. Sure they beat the colts today but the colts didnt have the good starters in. I just hope the Broncos have saved there good plays for this game.

QB sneak is the right play to make at the 1 yard line as far as I'm concerned. I don't see how giving it to Alexander would've been better strategy, especially since they Seahawks picked up the last 20 yards of that drive with Alexander rushes.
I think its fair to argue that he should've gotten more carries in the game but they made the right call at the goal line.
The Outlaw
01-03-2005, 02:21 AM
I know I know it's not an individual game. I should know that considering I played offensive line and a little DE. And I guarantee you that Shaun does not care about it and is happy with the home playoff game. BUT, he is the main reason they are there. He doesn't get enough carries. He is not appreciated in my mind. That MIGHT have been the right call strategically...but ya know, it just would have been...good to have seen him rewarded for carrying the load even with minimum carries.
Meh...oh well

Was it the final play of the game that you are talking about? Because if its there then you can't really do it for a guys stats, but if its just a random play in the middle of a game that you are talking about thats different.

Haven't really followed college this year, but if there's a top QB they'll go QB, not RB.
You don't get many shots at a franchise QB and look at how many RB move around, plus they have a decent RB.

Alex Smith, Jason White (Chris Weinke 2005), Stefan LeFors, Jason Campbell, and (maybe, dunno if he's declared yet) Aaron Rodgers are the top QB's this draft. Colts worry me this year, I am more worried about them then the Steelers honestly. I really think the Patriots will beat the Steelers if they get there. Colts worry me though because they are "due" for a win againest the Patriots. Plus the secondary is banged up which plays right into the Colts hands. I don't know, Law will probably be back. And Gay is probably playing at the same level as Pool as this point. It will be intresting to see Law if hes back in the flow or whatever. I am hoping the Colts lose in the 1st round somehow, get them out of here

I keep hearing they want to trade down, also heard Mike Willams (see: Jerry Rice).

Well, that all changed this weekend a QB sneak was the right call. why risk a handoff where you can fumble the exchange plus you step away from the line. Plus there was plenty of time left. The simple fact is, they were 1/2 a yd away from OT against a team of backups in a game that decided their division and home field in the first round of the playoffs. So the "We were going to win anyway" was crap.
1-10-SEA40 (10:07) M.Hasselbeck pass to R.Hannam to SEA 48 for 8 yards (D.Hall, B.Scott).
2-2-SEA48 (9:38) S.Alexander up the middle to ATL 49 for 3 yards (K.McCadam).
1-10-ATL49 (9:05) S.Alexander left tackle to 50 for -1 yards (T.Hall).
2-11-50 (8:20) M.Hasselbeck pass to B.Engram to ATL 27 for 23 yards (A.Rossum).
1-10-ATL27 (7:36) S.Alexander left tackle to ATL 27 for no gain (B.Scott).
2-10-ATL27 (6:57) M.Hasselbeck pass to J.Stevens to ATL 16 for 11 yards (B.Scott, B.Smith). ATL #91 Smith injured on play - walks off the field.
1-10-ATL16 (6:31) S.Alexander right tackle to ATL 14 for 2 yards (M.Stewart).
2-8-ATL14 (5:55) S.Alexander right tackle to ATL 3 for 11 yards (C.Draft).
1-3-ATL3 (5:13) S.Alexander up the middle to ATL 1 for 2 yards (C.Draft, B.Scott).
2-1-ATL1 (4:32) M.Hasselbeck up the middle for 1 yard, TOUCHDOWN.
They started at the Seattle 40.
Alexander got the ball 6 out of 10 times... Gaining 3, -1, 0, 2, 11, 2.
So, out of those carries (6) he had 1 good run 11yds.
Plus there were still over 4mins left.

For the past 3 years, this one included, I've picked Ram vs Colts.
I'm gunna stick with it . I have a feeling the Rams are set to go on a roll offensivley. Lets face it. Anyone who gets hot will come out of the NFC. I dont see one team in the NFC that can sack it up and take down a red hot team.So i'm thinking the Rams are about to get hot.
I'm die hard Colts. This year looks like " The Year". I havent seen a better Colts team in my 14 years of being a fan. Honestly i think we can handle the Broncos. Hell Jim "friggin" Sorgi was torching there defense. Pats vs Colts could be one for the ages. The QB sneak was the right call, much safer play. What wasn't a correct call was to only give him 19 carries or whatever. I don't agree with Shaun publicly bitching about it. We gained some momentum by beating one of the top teams in the NFC on a goal line stand that won the division and a home game against our rivals. No need to create any controversy or slow anything down right now. And who cares if he didn't get the title, everybody knows he's better than Curtis Martin. Adrian Beltre hit more home runs than Barry Bonds last year, but everyone knows Barry is the best power hitter in baseball.

I picked a Seahawks - Colts Super Bowl before the season started.
Nevermind THAT.
Chargers over Jets
Seahawks over Rams
Colts over Broncos
Packers over Vikings
Steelers over Chargers
Eagles over Seahawks
Colts over Patriots
Packers over Falcons
Colts over Steelers
Packers over Eagles
Colts and Packers play to 17 Overtimes over the span of three days until the game is finally just called off and the Lombardi Trophy is split in two and given to both teams.
Really, my dream Super Bowl right there. I can't bare to chose sides though.

I didn't see the article, but I think it was the NY Times had an article that the Yanks are losing money. But it's because they don't factor in the YES network.
I guess the Sox report the same way, reason being if they start to count there networks as "team profits" theres a chance the rest of the league may try and latch on via revenue/tv sharing.

Come on, how overrated are the Green Bay Packers? They will probably beat the Vikings this weekend, but they aren't the fucking Patriots. I had to drive my parents to the airport this morning so I had the talk radio on and now I'm watching Sports Center and they talk about the Packers like they are practically unstoppable. Sure they are probably the best team of the four NFC wildcard teams, but they do not live up to this hype.
They had a big win over Minnesota on Christmas Eve, but it was far from what I would call convincing. The Vikings have quite possibly the worst defense in the NFL this season and it took Green Bay a field goal as time ran out to win. Thats not very convincing. Just the week before that they were manhandled AT HOME by the Jaguars. The Jags are definately a good team, no doubt about that, but the Packers losing that game tells A LOT. Why that game was so telling is because it was played in 5 degree weather with strong wind. For those of you not not familiar with a wind chill, look it up. If the Packers can't play against a non-playoff AFC team at home in those conditions, what makes these people so confident that they will beat the Eagles?
Ohhh, right its that time the Packers played the Eagles a few weeks ago...yeah that game where the Packers were pretty much shut out. I'm sorry people but Terrell Owens doesn't play defense, meaning that the same defense that completely stomped on Green Bay's first team is ready to go. Green Bay, on the other hand, has a bad defense. Even without TO the Eagles could slice through it like a hot knife through butter.
Lol, as I finish let me quote the guy on Cold Pizza...
"They are the suprise team of the season, I really think they have a chance to beat Philadelphia"
How are they surprising, because they underachieved against good teams but made up ground in the absolute shit NFC North? Come on. They won't beat the Eagles in the second round, and you can hold me to that.

The Packers are consistently the most dangerous team in the playoffs. Don't underestimate anyone on that team, especially one Ironman Favre when it counts.

In the NFL I don't count any team out until they have a 0% chance. That is what is great about the NFL. One week a team could get blanked 40-0 then come out next week and be the one putting up 40 points. Without T.O. the Eagles are essentially the same team that has lost 3 NFC Championship games + and - a couple players. None of those players, with the exception of T.O. could change the face of the game either and he isn't playing.
The Eagles aren't going to go to the Superbowl and I think the Packers have a damn good shot at being the one to take them out.

How does the Packers inability to penitrate a good defense fit into that though? Look at their games against Phily and Jax, they couldn't do a thing. Beating Minnesota when they are as low as they are really isn't an accomplishment. Its possible, of course, but its not as likely as they are making it seem.
The Eagles losing of TO isn't as devistating as we are told to believe. They still have one helluva defense, and don't bring the lost cornerbacks into this, because they haven't been a factor and the addition of Javon Kearse on the d-line has been huge. I don't believe that the Philly team is the same as all the others, in my opinion the team as a whole has grown, but even if not the NFC is so weak that the Eagles of the past three years could still waltz through it.
I don't think any team is going to be pulling off major upsets in the NFC, but my gut feeling is the Rams. They have the explosive offense with Bulger back, and that win over the Jets last week showed some character for that team. They have been really inconsistant all season, but it seems like they showed up for big games and left some slack on the other ones. Once again, I doubt it will happen, but if a team is going to break out I predict the Rams over the Packers.

FYI - TY Law was put on the IR, he's done. Seymour might play but isn't 100%.
The one thing that really helped the Pats the 2yrs they won the superbowl was being healthy. W/ the exception of Drew which worked out well, they stayed injury free.
Still rooting, but the betting/logic in me, can't see the Pats as much of a threat now.
But we'll see....
