I personally think Edge needs to go over HBK at WrestleMania. I would LOVE to see HBK vs. Angle (with Garrison Cade making his return to the WWE, alongside Angle), but I think it could easily be done at Summerslam.

This is what I was talking about in another thread (on here I think?). If you do HBK-Angle what purpose does it serve? They will have a great match, but it wont get either guy anymor eover than they already are. On top of that, I dont see HBK vs Angle drawing any extra buys. I dont think its a match on par with Hogan-Rock or Lesnar-Goldberg that casual fans will see and go "I gotta see that".

They need new stars, and Edge desperately needs a big win, so this seems like a logical step. Of course I thought Jerihco should have beat HBK in Seattle, but that didn't happen, so maybe this will be pointless as well.

Angle should also put someone new over, but I have a feeling he might still get Taker at Mania.

I agree with what's already been said, Edge needs a win that can make the fans go "Woah, he's good.", that can be used for Edge to keep going until he reaches the World Heavyweight Championship.

A solid main event win at WrestleMania against a credible main event wrestler is one thing Edge is lacking, and one reason why you could have ruled him out to win the Elimination Chamber right from the start. They've got him in that main event slot, and they should keep him there, he just needs to earn that nail so he could hammer himself in there, and be a viable regular contender for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Angle was seriously hurt when he wrestled Brock at WM XIX and it was still a 4 star match (5 star if Brock hit the SSP)

Because we are two years later, and Shawn Michaels is realising he is getting on in age. If Michaels could pass the torch to anyone in the WWE, it would be Edge or Jericho, and seeing as one has more heat than the other at the moment, it seems smarter to have Edge go over HBK.

Logic does not apply in the WWE: backstage, or on screen.

HBK doesn't want to lose on the biggest show of the year, and because his best-friend is holding the booking reigns, he won't have to. And even if he DID lose to Edge at WrestleMania, no way in hell would it be clean, so it wouldn't serve any purpose as far as getting Edge over goes.

HBK is willing to put people over as long as it doesn't hurt his credibility. How many strong jobs has he done to put over the next generation of superstars since he returned in 2002? Given, he did help get Jeff Hardy out of his ditch during his face-paint bullshit, but that served relatively no purpose because Jeff was a waste to begin with, and even still, it didn't hurt HBK what-so-ever. HBK jobbed to Benoit at Backlash in 2003, but it was in a Triple Threat match; a mere silhouette of the WrestleMania match a month earlier, so it didn't elevate Chris Benoit either. And who can forget him beating Jericho at WrestleMania XIX, which, if done correctly, could have been the defining moment in Chris Jericho's career and could've pushed him into the World Title scene after Mania. Instead, I believe Jericho jobbed at Backlash in a 6-Man tag match, before jobbing to Goldberg on two consecutive PPVs.

The closest HBK has come to elevating talent since his return was a one-night only World Title match against RVD after he won the belt at Survivor Series 2002. RVD hit HBK with a 5 Star Frog Splash across his injured lower back, went for the cover, only to be broken up by interference and the match called a DQ. The near-victory helped RVD a tiny bit, but because he was never given a rematch or elevated into a strong feud with a heel (I think he jobbed the IC Title later that month), the end result was nothing.

To end my tirade, if Edge vs. Shawn Michaels does indeed take place at WrestleMania XXI, I will be very, very surprised if HBK does the clean job and puts over the overdue Edge.

where did you here HBK refused to put over Jericho? That's called the people who control the outcome of the match. HBK might of refused to do jobs in the past, but his hands were clean on this one.

This will be the first time I've not been for putting over the next generation. I hate Edge (as a worker) with a passion and turn the channel anytime he's on. I'd be oppose to Moe of Men on a Mission doing the job for Edge, much less HBK.
