Electronic Arts continued its pursuit of football dominance for 2005 today, with the announcement that it has entered an exclusive agreement with the Arena League Football organization. Under the agreement, EA will produce a brand new series of games over the next four years -- with the first title in the series being finished in time for the 2006 AFL season.

That's just crazy. It almost makes me think that EA is scared of the competition or something. The NFL deal was like cutting off the arms and legs of the competition, now they're going for the testicles.

Next thing we'll know....they will aquire the rights, to the long been dead XFL, just to make sure no company get's that....What does that leave, The CFL

LOL they probably won't even make a good game, or any game at all. They just did that so Sega couldn't get their hands on it

Before the XFL failed horribly there was suppose to be a game in the works. I hava a magazine somewhere with screen shots and details about the game. But after the XFL failed they scrapped the game.

I cant believe EA is doing this. I loved the ESPN football games. I liked them even more when they lowered the price. The hell if im gonna pay 50 for a football game every year.

EA does have a branch by the name of EA Canada that is responsible for some of their best shit, so maybe they could do a CFL game.

I watched it last season until Chicago got knocked out of the playoffs. I have no idea who won the arena bowl (or whatever its called?). I think their worst mistake is that they don't have regionally based coverage. For example I live in Dallas and they only aired a few of the Dallas games last season. They showed whatever they though was going to be the exciting game for the day and made it impossible to even care about the home team.

Depends what you're a fan of I guess.

I could care less, ESPN 2k5 was a good game but in the long run I could play Madden and be just as happy.

Not as much with football, but EA Basketball, hockey, and baseball games are all awful, so I will be pissed if they try to do this with one of them.

You should rent Def Jam: Fight For New York. If you are used to WWF No Mercy it will seem familiar and yet totally different. It is hot shit, to say the least.

Its prequel, Def Jam: Vendetta feels almost exactly like No ercy, but it is poo in comparison to Fight For New York.

Yea, DJ: Vendetta was like the exact same contorl scheme as No Mercy, it just played faster. Fight for NY is quite a bit different when you think about it. Still an awesome game though :D

This year ESPN was way better. Plus, they are implementing the dunk contest on NBA Street 3 anyways, which will kick ass.

Not like it matters, since I don't really play many games other than WoW anyway. But I'll have tons of fun playing NHL 2k5. Thanks for coming out.

Would they be able to make a NCAA Football game or does EA have the rights to it too?

Pretty sure both ESPN and EA have licenses for it. ESPN or 989. I don't remember (because I don't care about NCAA).

In game informer Magazine it says Madden gets the rights for the next 5 years starting with Madden 2006

Does this mean there wont be a ESPN NFL 2k6?
