LoL... I just watched this movie and I thought it was pretty funny. It doesn't really get good until the Zombies show up in my opinion. But if you're into that "stupid humor" then you'll have a blast with this movie.

I loved it. I bought it on dvd the other day and have watched it about 3 times already. The zombie-facts subtitle track is quite interesting, gives you a fair bit on infomation.

same here.....

It was pretty funny but no where near as good as some other comedy movies.....but atleast it was the funniest zombie movie I have ever seen.

it was funny in parts but it's not as funny as most people here would have you believe.

I agree with The Mask, it got too serious in some parts.
You should check out Spaced instead, great series.

Yeah it was great until they got to the Winchester, then it seemed like they tried to make a serious horror/drama movie.

When it was funny it was funny and a sick movie. But when it got serious it pissed me right off.

Thought it was awesome from start to finish, but thats probably because I think Simon Pegg is a god.

It's not meant to be a comedy though, it's a horror movie with some funny bits thrown in.

no it isn't. it's a comedy through and through. There's no real element of horror in it at all.

Bullshit, read any interview with Pegg and/or Frost & Wright.

The Mask

well, it was billed as a Zom/Rom/Com or something. I don't see how it was a horror at all. Simon Pegg even admitted they used the slower more bumbling type of zombies, cause there's more potential for comedy that way.

Nah they did that as a homage to Dawn of the Dead and the other 'classic' zombie movies which is what they grew up on

I want to see it a lot so I might rent it if I have enough time on my hands.

If you think at any point that was supposed to be anything but a comedy, well I can't say you are all that clever.

There's probably a lot of things you can't say, one of them being you know what the fuck you're talking about.

Taken from an interview at about.com:

How did you pitch this to Working Title?

SP: They pitched it to us. Well, they came to us.

EW: It was originally with Film Four because we did a show with Channel Four in the UK. And Film Four briefly went bust, but I think Working Title [was appropriate because] aside from being a zombie film, it’s supposed to be like a satire on the tradition of British rom-com of which Working Title, that’s their biggest export.

Fox billed Solaris as a love story. The publicity stuff doesn't always 100% reflect the movie properly.

Solaris is a love story, though. There's more to it, but it is most certainly a love story.

Exactly, just like SotD is primarily a zombie movie with more to it.

I'm pretty sure they wanted it to be a zombie movie that didn't take itself too seriously. Comedy probably shines in through this movie (I am yet to see it), but I've read all over that the plot was supposed to be serious, not "Scary Movie"-ish.

Right from the start they were probably planning it to be funny, but I don't think they set off with creating a comedy in mind as the primary objective.
