I mean do any of you realize how genious that name is. When you look at the move. If the guy who has the hold put on him is flailing his arms to the sides. It look exactly like a FRIGGIN SCORPION. BRILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLIANT!

Sting's moves worked well together, the Scorpion Death Drop & the Scorpion Death Lock looked great when you look at Stings character they suited him so well.

-edit-

Most of the matches Sting wrestles, his face paint is just about disappeared when the match is over :D

I miss Sting and Bret Hart being in the ring :/

Bret Hart owns Sting, and the sharpshooter owns the deathlock. Sting needs to just get his own damn move. Owen also owned Sting.

If Stu calls it a sharpshooter, then that is what it is. Sting leeched from Bret. Sting was a gimmicky, surfer, high flyer. What the hell is he doing with a move as brilliant as that? Yeah that's right. The leech.

Technically, it was called the Scorpion Deathlock in Japan years before Sting and Bret took it. Stu didn't invent it.

But yeah, Bret's Sharpshooter was definitely better-looking than Sting's Scorpion. Even though just about everyone else who does it makes it look like crap.

I call the sharpshooter no matter who does it. I dont think once Ive ever called it the Scorpion Death Lock. Its always been Sharpshooter to me.

You do know that the Sharpshooter/Scorpion Death Lock was done in Japan long before Bret "invented it" right?

I just found out that it was created in Japan yesterday.

It's tough to get an overall answer for who's is better. I think the Sharpshooter is a better name and I think Bret did it the best. However I grew up watching Bret Hart and WWE so I'm bias. Just like someone who grew up watching NWA/WCW is going to say Sting.

I do. Hence why I'm only playing around whenever I see a topic such as this. But yeah, Bret applied it like no other.

Just for the record, does anyone know who actually did invent the move? I keep wanting to say it was Inoki, but I'm not sure.

Of the two, it is Bret. However, the creator of the move is a Japanese guy named Riki Choshu in the mid-70's. He called it the Sasorigatame.

That should give you the answer.

Sting is Shelton Benjamin's favorite wrestler of all time, and if Mr. Benjamin says it, it must be true.

But yeah...

Scorpion Deathlock>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Sharpshooter

Yeah, it's the same damn move, but it's just better when Sting does it.

Sorry, oh and:

Sharpshooter (x1000) > Scorpion Deathlock

I grew up on Sting and the Sharpshooter (Bret's) just looks better. Also, the Sharpshooter gave birth to more ripoffs and classic moments than the ScorpDeathlock. The Scorpion Deathlock has its moments, but they don't have a "WrestleMania 13" moment now does it and whenever anybody uses it, they don't ever say " So-and-So with the scorpion deathlock!"

They do just about everywhere outside of WWE. 9 times out of 10 when I'm watching an indy match I hear 'Scorpion Deathlock' insted of Sharpshooter.

Didn't Sting try and put more pressure on the legs, while Hart worked the back more? I dunno, I never sawy much of either guy. I like the name Sharpshooter, though, and I prefer the move when it looks like they can bend you right backwards and snap you in two (Hitman's). The Rock's is pretty shitty, but it seems to be more of a leg/lower-back based version of the move.

It's hard to decide which is better, considering Sting used two finishing moves and Bret only used one.

I'd say Bret's Sharpshooter is better, simply because he was more famous for it. Sting's splashes were his trademark, but then again, I think Benjamin does it better.

I'm not sure about The Rock's, but Benoit slaps in a good one occasionally. And I've heard Matt Stryker has a decent modification of one.

Sting's sharpshooter ;-) is better than the Rocks's.
But the best is Bret Hart's, then Owen Hart, then Benoit, THEN STING, then the Rock

Rock's sharpshooter sucks.

Half the time he fucks up the turn, and when he has it actually locked on he gets this look on his face like he's recieving a rather large anal probe. He should stick to the People's Elbow - much better move.
