Tennessee Titans vs. New England Patriots-Titans
Indianapolis Colts vs. Kansas City Chiefs-Colts
Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles-Hardest one... I'll go with home field advantage and say the Eagles.. I'd like to see Farve get another ring though..

Mine:
Panthers over Rams (close)
Patriots over Titans (close)
Chiefs over Colts (by a long shot IMO)
Eagles over Packers (close until 4th Q)
Unless I bet money on a team, then whoever I bet on will stink up the place! :(

Chiefs over Colts (by a long shot IMO)
If they stop the run game like they did against the Broncos, there's no f'n way the Chiefs are gonna win..

Like I said, IMO
However, I usually see teams have big let downs after big games in wildcard matches. Indi had something to prove against Den, who took them to school 3 weeks ago in there own yard.
About stopping the run, all I can say is Priest Holmes!

Portis is the Man, I like him and the O-line of the Broncos
but I have yet to see a team contain Holmes since he's been a Chief.
I'm not against the Colts or anything, I just have a feeling the Chiefs blow this one away.

Hi. Team game. Think KC's 1-11 3rd down conversion may have had something to do with it. 3.9 ypc not bad. only 16 touches too. Your Welcome!

I'm still hoping for a Colts-Packers Super Bowl. I would cream my f'ing pants!!! :shifty:
Anyways...
St. Louis over Carolina. Early in the year I wouldn't put anything past Carolina but they've come back down to earth and are looking pretty average. I think St. Louis is starting to head downward but they won't fall apart against Carolina. Maybe next week against GB. *Crosses fingers*
Tennessee over New England. This one is really tough. Obviously New England is the obvious choice but I've got a feeling that McNair will pull this one off. He had a pretty bad game last week and I doubt that he'll have a second straight.
Indianapolis over Kansas City. Just like Carolina, KC looked like a lock to go far in the playoffs early in the year and then they came back to earth and started to fizzle out. This one should be the game of the week though.
Green Bay over Philly. The other three home teams this weekend are a combined 24-0 this season. Philly is 5-3 with a home loss just 3 weeks ago to San Francisco. Anyone who is taking them simply due to homefield advantage should think again. I think Ahman will have a big game too.

I'd just like to point out that if we went with your predictions of GB over Philly and StL over Carolina, then GB would travel to the EJD...where St. Louis has dismantled everyone. Sorry, you lose.

Saturday, January 10 -
Carolina Panthers vs. St. Louis Rams
Rams - Too much fire power, even against a good defense.
Tennessee Titans vs. New England Patriots
Pats - Defense and injuries... plus WEATHER it's going to be around 0 to -5, and there talking with wind chill -20 to -30.
Sunday, January 11 -
Indianapolis Colts vs. Kansas City Chiefs
KC - Vermeil finds a way to win, plus neither team can stop the run and KC has a better running game. *
Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles
PHL - I feel bad for Brett also, but I don't think even fighting for the memory of your dead father helps him here... They should have lost to Seattle and got lucky. McNabb is going to pick them apart and the Defense shuts them down.
* - Just read all the talk about how Indy "Shut Down" Portis.. They didn't.
Portis - 17 for 68, 4yds/carry
Griffin - 6 for 60, 10yds/carry
Plummer - 3 for 18, 6yds/carry

New England by a blow-out. They have shut-out their opponents 3 out of the past 4 times at home
St.Louis by a landslide.

As for STL... They should fire Martz for being a Stupid, Arogant, Prick...
Never should have let the clock run and kicked the field goal.
The guy runs and offense that everyone knows and doesn't change his game plan because "I'm Mike Martz, no one can stop me".

I don't think either KC or Indy has a shot in NE...
Weather and crowd aside.
Both teams can't stop the Run, both teams have trouble with the passing game, both teams rely 90% on offense. (Dungy is a great Defensive coach, but he still doesn't have the personel he needs).
I see Belicheck shutting down or slowing either offense, while Wies picks apart the defense, especially with the recent re-emergnce of A. Smith, but that also depends on how banged up he is... he was limping a lot at the end.

Its not like New England has much of a running game. KC has been exposed by pretty good backs, not Antwan Smith and Kevin Faulk.

Yes, Clinton did average 5.5yds/carry in 2003... but giving up 68 yds on only 17 carries for a 4yd averag isn't a shutdown... especially when Griffin torched you when he got his hands on the ball a few times.
Its not like New England has much of a running game. KC has been exposed by pretty good backs, not Antwan Smith and Kevin Faulk.
KC has been exposed by all running games... actually by almost every offense... KC wins shoot-outs... for KC to beat NE, they'd need to crack NE's defense and win a shootout, I just don't see that happening.
As for Smith, nope... he's not the best back, Smith has gotten the job done the last few games, which is smash mouth and control the clock. Plus he didn't play a lot during most of the season, so he's actually pretty fresh (although he was limping today) and Faulk, most of his yards will be off screens and such, which will give KC fits.
We'll see next week, but unless one of those teams pull a big rabbit out of their hat, I can't see either beating NE.
#1-norm-fan
01-11-2004, 05:54 AM
Yeah. KC has NO chance of beating NE if they win tomorrow. And it's not like one of those games where you say they have "no chance" and then end up pulling off the huge upset. They have NO CHANCE.
Indy on the other hand is 7-1 on the road this year. They've played NE already this year in a game that came down to a couple Bethel Johnson returns and then just 1 yard in the end. They won't let Johnson go crazy again. Indy has a definate chance. Now I'm just interested in seeing how well they perform tomorrow.

I'm not concerned about who can or can't beat NE next week. I say there is NO CHANCE of a KC win today. You guys can mock me later if I'm wrong, but if I had money I'd bet it against the Chiefs. It's not that I even think Indy is that great or anything, but IMO the Chiefs don't even deserve to be where they are.
The Colts are my Lock of the Week, Shoe in of the Week, and whatever else I can say that means they are going to win for sure. They can worry about NE after they put away KC today.

Hate to break it to ya, it's not that big of a reach... almost everyone is picking them... Heck the line is down to 3...
I still think KC pulls it out, but should be a good game either way.

If you want to base it on stats, players, teams and what not, then it should be GB all the way. If you call it on stats then check the stats for the monday night game between the two of them. GB had that game, they just blew it at the end. If you call it on players you have to take into consideration that the Eagles are missing a couple of key players due to injuries. If you call it on teams its been made very obvious that the Eagles are far from flawless at home.
For some reason people haven't given the Packers the credit they deserved this season until recently. The sad thing is that they don't credit the team, they credit it to Favre's father passing away.
It was a nice change of pace to watch Sunday NFL Countdown on ESPN this morning and hear almost a solid hour talking about how GB should win this game. The only one that really seemed to doubt them heavily was Micheal Irving.
Ahman Green is going to tear the Eagles apart today. He had no problem running on them before and he won't have any problem doing it today.
The Packers didn't just get lucky last week, the Seahawks were the lucky ones. GB should've embarrased Seattle just like they did in the regular season.
