View Full Version : Who do you HOPE to see win the Royal Rumble Match

Batista is pretty much a lock as the winner of the Royal Rumble this year, but do you want to see him win it? Who would you like to see outlast the other 29 men, and walk away with the title shot at WrestleMania?

BTW, who do you hope to see take the last spot for SmackDown! in the Rumble?

From RAW I'd like to see Jericho take it. Y2J has been billed as the main eventer who is just tehre for decoration, and thus far that description has been 100% true. The last title he held was the IC Title, because they wanted someone to shatter Jeff Jarrett's record, and needed someone to warm-up the belt.

Chris is over, he's a great wrestler, and I think he's still got the gas to really launch himself into the spotlight once more. Maybe he could even become the top face of the WWE if given the chance?

I didn't even see this guy in WCW, but watching the videos posted in the Official Wrestling Videos thread you can just tell this guy was meant to be something. "Oh my God, I killed Juvi!" is one of the greatest things I've ever heard come out of a wrestler's mouth.

Jericho vs. Triple H at Mania would make it the second WM headlined by these two, but with Jericho as the babyface, and with Triple H doing the clean job, it would make one of the greatest WrestleMania moments ever, IMO. And I'm not even that much of a Jericho mark.

I'd personally like to see Jericho do that stomping walk taunt, which always cracks me up, eliminate Christian, and have him really be the star of this Rumble. The next few weeks we see the old Jericho revive itself, with Jericho getting lots of mic time, and really cutting loose. Then at WrestleMania, Jericho battles against Evolution, before Jericho puts Triple H in the Walls of Jericho, Liontamer-style. The ref is down, Batista is up, he sees Tripel H calling out to Batista. Dave hops on the apron, then just shrugs and lets Jericho keep the hold on. The ref comes to and Triple H taps.

From the SmackDown! side, if they really want to go that route, I'd have Eddie Guerrero or Rey Mysterio win the Rumble. I'm not the biggest fan of either guy, but in Los Angeles, you have the power to make either one the top face of the company. I'm leaning towards Mysterio because he's never won the Rumble, never been Champion, and WrestleMania is almost a hometown crowd. If the WWE are serious about seperating Mysterio away from the Cruiserweight Division, they may as well use this opportunity, because it is probably going to be the hottest reaction Mysterio will ever get.

So Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio are my picks, but I personally will rejoice if Batista wins the Rumble even though it is EXTREMELY predictable right now.

Its hard for me to answer these types of questions.

I always see things in terms of wht makes sense and what would be good for business. I would like to see Chris Jericho win the Rumble and win the WWE and/or World Title. But if that were to happen it would be bad for business because Jericho has been treated like Mr Mid-Carder 4-Life.

Dont get me wrong, I know the point of this is to be fantasy, but just for me its hard to think along those lines.

So that said, I dont think there is a problem with Cena or Batista winning.

I can see reasons to have each guy win.

With Batista he could use the Rumble to look dominant, get his first high profile win, and get rolling towards Mania vs Hunter. However, they could just just as easily have Batista get screwed by Hunter and Flair, and set up the exact same storyline without having him win. They could even do something on RAW where they have a "RAW Rumble" and have Batista totally dominate that.

Which would lead to Cena winning. I kinda lean towards Cena winning, only because I think he's more over now, and I think he has a much better chance of still ebing over 8 months from now. With Batista I'm not totally sold that he can do business outside a program with Hunter. I just dont know if Batista is Sid or Goldberg.

Back to Cena. I think a win at the Rumble would be good because it would catapult him to the WWE title picture. He has never really mentioned the WWE title as a goal of his as he's been concentrating on the US title. By having him win the Rumble, he right in the middle of the title hunt, and they have a little over 2 months to build up a program with JBL.

In the meantime, while JBL continues to fued with Show, Cena could use Angle to get him ready for Mania. A match between the two for Cena's title shot at Mania at NWO would be great, and having Cena go over clean would give him that main event credible win that he needs before Mania.

But like I said, either guy is a good choice, for no other reason than they are the most over guys on their brand.

I can see where you are coming from. Cena and Batista have been groomed for the win, but for that same reason I think they should probably skip them.

I personally think Batista can continue this slow-burn towards the World Heavyweight Championship. I'd personally like to see Triple H retain the title, then have Triple H come out and pull the ropes down on Batista about 3/4 of the way through the Rumble. Everyone in the arena and the Rumble (including Flair) stops and turns their attention towards Batista staring down Triple H on the entrance way, expecting the big man to explode. Triple H then says there is no reason for Batista to be in the match since he retained the Championship. This would be especially dramatic if Batista actually was the key player in The Game retaining.

Anyway Batista swallows up his rage and walks to the back with Triple H. Flair is quickly eliminated by Jericho.

I think more fans care about Batista getting his hands on Triple H then they do seeing Batista with the World Heavyweight Championship. I can even see the wrestlers trying to get Batista to turn against Evolution. Even Flair seems unsure of the situation.

As for Cena, he would make a decent pick for the Rumble, but I just can't see the guy leading the WWE in a time like this. Next year for sure, but right now he's like a rapping version of The Hurricane. He's so protected it isn't funny (despite him having the skills to put on great matches), and he's gotten so corny recently with his "Chain Gang" stuff.

I'd give Cena a year to re-discover himself, and his edge, before giving him the nudge. I know he's over with wrestling fans, but I think anyone who just turned on SmackDown! and was new to the WWE would be completely turned away by Cena. If Cena were to win the Rumble, I'd prefer it if he jumped to RAW and beat Triple H at Mania. It's out of the blue, true, but I think Cena is a bit of a wonky choice to lead the entire company when "Ruck Fules" is censored on his clothing.

Chris Jericho isn't exactly the wave of the future, but I think the wave needs to be built-up instead of being discharged so early.

I understand Batista winning (and maybe Cena) would be good for business at the moment, but I think that business will be there in few months as well. The longer they hold off Batista vs. Triple H, the more the people will be excited ot finally see the match.

If the WWE put Jericho vs. Benoit for the World Heavyweight Championship, Triple H vs. Batista and Flair vs. Foley on a card like Backlash, then I think there would be EXTREMELY high buyrates compared to a lot of other single-brand PPVs.

As much as I'd like to see Batista win the title at Mania, I think they can hold it off until a smaller event and really make it seem epic. How many people would buy Backlash for Batista vs. Triple H the rematch? While it would certainly be high, I think the first encounter between the two would do better than the Elimination Chamber at NYR, and with the WWE typically losing interest towards the middle of the year, I think they should use WrestleMania to really LAUNCH Triple H vs. Batista, rather than finish it.

I believe it's about 50-50 on who wins the rumble. If Cena wins then Orton will beat HHH setting up the young guns match up of Cena vs Orton. If Batista wins HHH will retain.I would rather see the Cena vs Orton match

Batista.

It would create way more interest than having Cena win it. See Cena can just easily start feuding with JBL, but with Batista he is stablemates with HHH. There for you would assume it would add more interest to see what happens between 'Tista and Hunter. Would Batista jump to Smackdown? Would he "give up" his spot at Mania? Or will he break away from Hunter and challenge him?

I'd love to see Jericho or Guerrero winning but it won't happen. I have no problem with Batista winning

I personally think Triple H retaining and Dave winning makes no sense. Batista in only in the match in case Triple H doesn't beat Orton, so if Triple H retains, I think Cena will win the Rumble.

This allows Triple H vs. Batista is the semi-main event, or for Batista to cost Triple H the title at a house show or on RAW, and have them face off in a non-title contest, with Jericho vs. Benoit or something beaing for the World Heavyweight Championship.

If you want to have Batista win, I think it should be a sly victory. Have Batista "accidentally" cost Triple H the title to Orton at the PPV, have Batista win the Rumble, then have Triple H win the World Heavyweight Championship back heading into WrestleMania.

This is the perfect setup, IMO.

I can just see Batista looking over at Triple H/Flair when he is one of the last two left in the rumble, HHH & Flair are telling batista "No!, Don't, Just jump over" etc. Batista would look at HHH & Flair, then at the last man in the rumble, then back at HHH/Flair, He might then tell HHH/Flair to get lost then throws out the last person...

have Batista go on a rant about how Triple H was always been the main person of Evolution and that he didn't have a shot to make it big it was always about Triple H (Etc you get the point)

But two months until Wrestlemania is a long time. The heat between the two could die out. If N.W.O. is a RAW ppv then Batista could tell HHH to relax, he still has a match at N.W.O. and that if he wins, he has nothing to worry about. or whatever.

I don't know it's late and I'm going to bed now :o
