The cereal that I eat has an offer where you can send in UPC's and get a free DVD, so I figure that since I already have them I might as well get the movie. There are seven options and none look very good, right now I am leaning towards The Man in the Iron Mask, but vote away.

I'd never heard of it, so I assumed it was some mid 90's Hulk Hogan type film

Kellogg's...I think the ones that have the offer are Corn Flakes, Mini Wheats, and Raisin Bran. Dunno, I'd be eating it anyway so might as well.

Must read threads next time.

If I can get 12 Angry Men on DVD for free, I'll start eating said cereal as well.

Last semester I was in a course called "The History of Film Pt. 1" in which we watched films from the very beginning up until the early fifties. If I could sit through "Birth of a Nation" I think I can handle this anything.

On that tangent, has anybody else ever seen Birth of a Nation? OMG it is death. We also watched Traffic in Souls, equally as deadly.

Racist pile of boring silent movie shit.

On the other hand, we followed it up with the genius that is Charlie Chaplin in City Lights. That movie single handedly made me want to seek out all that is Chaplin. Gonna get The Charlie Chaplin Collection Vol. 1 for my birthday.

I should make a topic out of that.

Birth of a Nation is really boring, an overtly racist. However it clearly deserves its place in cinema history for its innovative film techniques.

12 Angry Men is good. The Man in the Iron Mask I liked because I was always into the musketters."All for one and one for all" Plus John Malkovich had a strong acting performance in it

Exactly. I just wish they didn't force us to sit through the whole thing, but rather specific parts. Have you seen the Trafffic in Souls one? I think that might be worse. It is hard to beat the painted black guys in Birth of the Nation though.

Watch Bamboozled. It's a Spike Lee movie, and it will make you hate both white people and black people at the same time.

Come on! Choose Hackers, it's fun seeing them get excited about a laptop with a 28k Modem in it.

And also how the world of hacking seems to be like a combination of the lawnmower man and the mtrix

Yeah, and not to mention that its the first ever feature length film. But the thing about the innovative film techniques, they were innovative, but I don't think Griffith did well with them at all. Perhaps its just my personal opinion.

Was the "pan shot" developed before Birth of a Nation? I think it started in The Great Train Robbery, but I can't remember when that was.
